  • In this video I am going to walk you through the process of creating some sort of UV Randomizer in Maya and Arnold. This work is based on a video from Entagma, that goes through the process in blender.

Great video as always. I may have to take a whole day to learn this technique though 😅

I took me 4 hours to find the right nodes too 😅

great stuff, I tried that some time ago but never managed to.. very nice, will study this carefully.

Thanks. I only managed after watching the blender video. If you try to build it and have any questions let me know. Cheers

Beware of Arnold GPU at this moment is not supporting matrix calculation.

is there something similar for 3ds max / arnold?

Hi, I think you will need to rely on OSL in 3ds max, look for Mads Drøschler OSL shaders, I believe he has done some of those for 3ds max.

This setup doesn't take care of normals rotation if you are using this for PBR texturing, right?
The normals rotation is a WHOLE new problem to solve

Yes, that is indeed another problem , I did it already but for other render engine(karma at the time). You could always use bump/displacement instead. I've seen OSL scripts for solving it in redshift, maybe worth to have a look? Cheers

@@cgsideHell, I didn't think of using bumpmaps instead of normal maps, problem solved!
If you do know of any OSL node to do that, please share.
And if you know of any other OSL forum or resources, please share them too. The only one I know is on facebook and I don't use it.
      Thanks!
