I'm the type of person that would rather spend several hours trying to figure things out on my own than watch a video longer than 30min so your tutorials are a lifesaver for me you have no idea
Love your tutorials. Never boring, and they're always simple and straightforward. Question: Is there a way to apply more control over the color so that you can, say, create a pattern in the 'rug'?
Hello Monica, very useful info as always. For some reason my density multiplier is not working ok and scales up extremely fast, even when I type "2" it takes it to 2000, any idea why that might be?
Hi, I am using a file texture to create a pattern on my carpet. I have it plugged into the base mesh aiStandardSurface, as well as the HairPhysicalShader in both the root and tip. The carpet looks really dark. I can up the exposure on my skydome light which fixes the carpet colour but then my background textures get blown out. Do you have any idea how to fix the lighting? thanks!
Thank you for awesome tutorials! :) Tried to do furry stuff, but arnold render wont do any good resaults using GPU. only CPU? Is there some kind of setting or connection with Xgen?
Hey I have a question! So I want to make my carpet into a layer so that I can hide and unhide it, but when I try to hide it it does nothing. I know its connected to the layer because when I choose "select objects" on the layer drop down, it selects my carpet. Just can't hide it. Any help appreciated
if you are using GPU render please let me know how to render those things in Arnold cuz when i try to render they give a error message like this " ignoring shader hairPhysicalShader1, node not supported on the GPU "
My first language is not English but I can Understand all your words in this video and do the same for my school project thank you for all of your tutorials
the tutorial is nice but as soon as i start to change the density to 2 xgen says "you need 2000.000".... after 3 hours of trying and trying again i gave up and will try again in a few days... but very good explenaitions an error on my side does not change the greatness of this tutorial
Hey! So I'm trying to create a soccer field with grass with xgen, but need to move the plane to a new location, but the xgen fur doesn't move with the plane object, it stays in place. How can you move objects and have the xgen fur follow?
Hai Monica , thanks for the video and I have question , what to do if we want some kind of texture or image in that fur/rug/carpet Ex - A Polar Bear Textured fur rug/Carpet Please reply and thanks
Thanks for watching! If you want to add texture to fur, you have to attach a texture to the xGen node. here is a video tutorial where I go over that. I hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/VHgj7WrjT7M/видео.html
Can u say me how to fix polygon fill bleed in substance painter ... When I try to colour using polygon fill it's gets jaggy edges bleed (Not able to fill perfectly inside the box)
I know it's a late reply but I was having the same problem. I found by experimenting (idk if it's the right way to do it but its works) that if you subdivide your square (I used like 20 subdivs on width and length) it will take the full shape of your square
xGen only works in Maya. I think you'll have to convert the fur into geometry. Modify>Convert> Convert xGen to primitives. I personally haven't tried it, but it might give you A LOT of geometry! Good luck!
@@AcademicPhoenixPlus Always Monica, Your videos really helps a lot and ur concept of learning others is phenomenal 😊. Really glad to have a channel like u.

Hi, I am wonder why are the fur not showing when I render them, thanks
This is a great Xgen tutorial, thank you.
Furs aren't showing on Arnold render
