  • With the promise of going to one of the best restaurants in Atlantic City, two friends agreed to hop in my Cirrus SR22 G6 for a nice dinner. One of them, John, was a student pilot, owned a 1977 Piper Cherokee, didn't finish his pilot's certificate and hasn't flown in over 15 years. The other, Steve, always had the perception that small plane is just that: small, cramped and uncomfortable. After they got in, both couldn't believe how modern, roomy and comfortable the Cirrus SR22 is. John is even thinking about finishing his pilots certificate.
    So please join us on our flight to Atlantic City for an amazing dinner and back.

      @@SlowAsianDriver Not at all! Many of the things you do in the cockpit are what I have been teaching them (they are primary) - and we fly in a Cirrus SR20-G6 which has the exact same colors as the one in the flight. Really excellent demonstration of radio skills, IFR technique, safety, checklists, landing, etc. Not only is your video a great example for them, but it also shows how fun it can be to have the freedom to fly somewhere like that with friends. Atlantic city is a perfect airport for our cross-country flights, so we'll have to do something like that. I'll need to remember that restaurant.

    Man it reminds me of flying with my friends to dinner at Scottsdale and coming back in Scottsdale at night over the huge Valley of the Sun Phoenix with the lights as far as you can see. Sometimes it would be dead calm and we just fly right over the runway midfield after 9 o’clock and the tower was closed hang out left which would put us on a left downwind for runway three Scottsdale. Those nights I was flying diamond star DA 40 witch had incredible visibility. Double canopy that came almost all the way down to your waist. Had a stick instead of a yoke which I loved and a G1000 set up.

      Thanks Jose! I have a GoPro Max in the front and Hero 8 in the back. Hero 8 is mounted to the Oxygen Port through an adapter.

      Stay safe this weekend my friend. Btw the adapter was made by someone on the Cirrus Forum. Just do a search on COPA and you’ll find it. If not, please hit me up on IG and I’ll see what I can do.

    Does the SR22 series have an autofeather feature or any way to feather the prop after an engine out?

    • @SlowAsianDriver
      @SlowAsianDriver  7 месяцев назад

      Prop pitch is controlled by engine driven oil pump. If you lose the engine, the prop is automatically feathered.

    Does the plane record communications with atc or is that a device you have in the aircraft when you played it back?

    Interesting thanks, control check you didn’t actually look at ailerons etc, I was trained too do so…? Laurie NZ.

    • @SlowAsianDriver
      @SlowAsianDriver  Год назад +1

      We do too. Both pre flight and pre take off we physically inspect aileron attachment, counter weight and make sure it movement is free and clear. I may have already did it and was just checking off the digital checklist.

    • @LWJCarroll
      @LWJCarroll Год назад +1

      @@SlowAsianDriver Hi, yes I understand the preflight physical check but I think the idea of looking when moving the controls in the cockpit meant I was seeing if I had full range on control surface movement and in the right directions. You could have a partial jam on either side etc which the walk around check doesn’t pick up. Then its not until near or at lift off that you find out there is a problem. I have found in another area related to flying that these safety habits do pay off. I would rather see your flying channel continue thanks and not be a statistic. Best Regards. Laurie

      @@SlowAsianDriver fyi I once forgot to set take off flaps on the Cardinal RG I was piloting and didn’t notice until during the take off run and cant recall now if I carried on for a no flap takeoff or popped them down. 3 POB btw…I hadn’t done the pre take off check methodically as I recall…

      Agreed & appreciate the feedback. Our field is so busy, there’s no run up area at the end of this runway and there were a few jets behind me. Just wanted to be considerate. ✌️

      @JohnandDiane Fitch I mean, as long as you have a good crosscheck. How do you think charter, airlines, military, etc. function? As long as you're in an uncontested area... Different strokes for different folks I guess...

    It always amazes me when people get an opportunity to fly somewhere in a private aircraft be it prop or jet and yet nearly always can not put down their mobile phone, not to take pictures but to scrawl through messages or to text someone. FFS put the bloody thing down, get a life and enjoy the experience that many of us can only dream of!
