the most impressive thing about Chinese drones is that they also serve as a great tool in peacetime, that during several disasters, we can see drones carrying communication equipment into affected areas to provide mobile-phone service

    • @saml7610
      @saml7610 Год назад +22

Yeah unlike the US, China allows the PLAAF (and other branches) to operate in civilian airspace, which gives them a wider range of civilian applications, for obvious reasons. These drones are not just being used to provide communications, but also being used for meteorological survey, land survey, law enforcement (traffic monitoring mostly), and probably other uses I just haven't seen. China is far more forward thinking and much less conservative when it comes to the applications of novel UAS.

@@saml7610 In China it's the other way around: the PLA allows civilian aircraft to operate in military airspace (almost the entire Chinese airspace is supervised by the PLA). When the CAAC wants to set up a new air route, they have to submit to military departments for final approval.
You're right the PLA does engage in disaster relief more often than most countries. Though in this particular case mentioned, the emergency mobile communication UAV is operated by a civilian branch of the government (ministry of emergency management), not by the PLA.

The WZ-7 is probably a biplane design to increase lift while reducing wingspan. Using a pair of thinner sweep back and forward wing reduces drag while increasing speed and fuel efficiency, standard biplane configuration gives a lot of lift but a lot of drag as well. At least that is my take from designing model planes myself. And flight controller are going to used these days regardless how stable the design is, flight controllers also means fly by wire.

This is the military aviation content I've always wanted. Very likeable and professional presenter, and topics are shown in an informative, documentary-style format that is easy to watch and keeps you engaged, instead of lulling you to sleep. Ive been interested in Chinese UCAVs since the Rainbow CH-4 and its combat debut in Iraq against Daêsh under service of the Iraqi Air Force. I'm interested in the technology and end-user aspect of it and not caught in the political fervor, and this channel does the same. It's especially welcome since there is so little content, let alone professional content like this, on modern Chinese UAS systems. You just made some USAF O-4s' job easier

One good way to ping a stealth air craft without experiencing an adverse pong effect (signal scattering and or damping) is the use of an excitation frequency outside of its stealthy frequency in cm to mm wave, especially using longer wave at a lower frequency. Example: a wind span of 15m supports an antenna half wave frequency of 10MHz.
The second advantage is antenna gain, range increase is linear proportion to wave ratio.. Example : radar wave length is 1cm and wing span is 15m; range gain = wave ratio = (30m/1cm) = 3000 times.
An aircraft wing span can be utilized as an air borne half wave dipole antenna for radar application. Dipoles usually are feed across an insulator in the middle which create a structural problem. This problem is resolved with continuous metal structure through out the span and change the feed configuration as ‘shunt fed’. The shunt feed structure composing of the two fuselage and the nose canard (electrically insulated in the mid section as a feed port. The fuselage also act as electronic equipment casing.
The twin metal fuselage also help to direct radiation forward to substantiate a front back gain ratio.
Each deployment consists of plural air born copies and by triangulations method use in gps this system can pinpoint enemy planes sooner than the stealth plane can.
All dipole planes coordinates are known within the system. By their onboard gps equipment. The ping signal of dipole1 hits dipole2,,,n as well as enemy’s lead plane. The pong signal from enemy’s plane is pick up by all airborne dipoles with difference gps time stamps. All time stamp data are fed to computer1 for triangulation processing.
With built in protocol an airborne dipole can be selected to take the lead to do what the lead dipole just did (initiate a ping) in case the lead dipole is compromised.

As long as the usa keeps their pistol in their pants things will be just fine.
China is just being prudent by developing millitary capability on par with anyone else.
I wouldn't trust the usa or the west in general either if i where the chinese. We have a track record of being backstabbing troublemakers that turn on anyone for the littlest things or marginal gains.
The only way to keep the bullies at bay is by being to big and costly to mess with.
China understands this perfectly well after seeing what happened to lots of other countries that trusted the words of white folks.
The usa loves to tell the story that china developing is evidence of agressive ambitions, but in reality there is very little that actually points into that direction.
Why on earth would they want to sabotage the perfectly fine situation they created for themselves.
They are finally prospering after centuries of heartship and missery, the population is rapidly becomming wealthy and their international political power is on the rise etc. etc.
Anyone who thinks they are going to throw all of that away by starting a very costly and long drawn out conflict that would destroy everything achieved over the last decades needs their head examined. And for what? What would even be their objective? They have pretty much everything they need domesticly. Loads of resources, loads of agricultural potential to feed the population and so on.
You go to war to obtain something essential to your country that you otherwise would not have access to. China has loads of stuff the world wants, so anything they need they can simply trade for.
China isn't a threat. And have you seen the state of russia? They wouldn't even make it 25 miles into a nato country, russia somehow invading europe is nothing but a wild fantasy.
When putin gets kicked out or simply kicks the bucket things will calm down again amd we can all go on with our lives.

It makes the most sense seeing as there is no "weapons bay". also, it does appear, at least to me, to be more experimental than full production. as far as ws7, if it would be inherently unstable, maybe a disposable weapons platform. if not, and its stable, testbed for cheaper construction, composites can be expensive and time consuming. btw just gained another stalker... i mean subscriber

Something about the WZ-8 does not add up - i mean about is geometry. With the claimed performance characteristics and geometry it seems like a normal jet-engine would be way more suited. On the other hand, if it reconnaissance is only a secondary objective and the main aim would be a disposable machine... it would be very much suited as a long-range missile. A slow cruise at high altitude followed by a rapid descent. In that case the structural degradation would be a non-issue and the form would make more sense.

My nonimportant opinion considering WZ-8 is that you are generally right about its speed. If you compare it with DF-17 (it has clipped wings to achieve high Mach numbers), WZ-8 is a simple dart-like vehicle with "ordinary" supersonic airfoil and low-yield rocket engines (judging by the exhaust). Also, some sloppy details on the fuselage (uncharacteristic for the Chinese), are unacceptable for high-speed vehicles.

That high angle profile is good at speed not loitering cruise operation! If your analysis is right then it may just not be a decoy, but a HARM like missile! The 2nd example twin boom aircraft suggests it has radars or other sensors along the side of the booms! The 3rd forward sweeping rear wing is sooooo narrow that how much useful lift could it actually give? Perhaps it is there to stop the long rearward sweeping wings shearing off? ie. poor material stability ;p Sorry I post when I see an objection & not when ewe finally get there!

Military drone swarms are in their infancy and will quickly advance … much like radar technology quickly advanced during WW2. One straightforward example of where this leads is obvious by watching the video of a small amateur RC airplane pulling 40 G maneuvers at over 700 km/hr. These low cost drones can effectively become kamikaze swarms that outrun and impact all aircraft going under 700 km/hr (helicopters, tilt rotor vehicles won’t stand a chance).

I wonder if 2 divine eagles flying side by side both using c band radar could be made equivalent to 1 antenna .much larger across. This is done routinely by radio telescopes. If the bandwidth required is too great, then there may be a way to process each target independently by each divine eagle then transmit essential data about that target alone. The essential data is the reflected return signal phase shift or time delay between the 2 antennas, assuming both eagles timed and focused their radar output signal to reach the target in a combined in-phase way.

I wondered, how the Russians would flood London with a Status-6 'Poseidon' since the North Sea is mostly shallow, down to about -100m.
But there is a lot of merchant traffic that could be shadowed by the torpedo to avoid detection (the titanium hull is already resistant to geomagnetic interference detection from naval aviation).
So, if Kherson is flooded by MI6, there may be a vast retaliation upon the city of London - since the US 101st is already 'combat' deployed to march upon Odessa, anyway...
Enjoy the merch and circus while it lasts...

Of course that North Sea is the perfect spot to detonate Poseidon nuke but I don't think we're going there anytime soon.
Unless some idiots in DC decide to attack Russian forces with an excuse of using dirty bomb inside Poland.
But I believe the war is in a final stage now and negotiation will take place sometimes later in January.

"Unless some idiots in DC decide to attack Russian forces with an excuse of using dirty bomb (...)"
...and that is exactly the problem.
We already know _thouroughly_ that *there is **_not a single_** person in Washington, capapble of realistic analysis* - they have all been _systematically_ replaced in the last _30 years_ .
Neo-conservative *ideologues* and *immigrant Banderite Ukrainians run US national security policy* - reflected in *the deployment of the 101st Airborne Division* , arguably with classified marching orders unto Odessa.
That *the US NIH had engaged in illegal biological weapons research via the Gates Fundation, EcoHealth Alliance and Metabiota* proves intent to deploy weapons of mass destruction - considering the exposed cover up by 'The Lancet' and 'Nature', SARS-COVID-2 is not of natural origin, but was _deployed_ - arguably to collect data upon spread and effects with a minimal 'payload', targeting mostly Indians for now (see respective research literature).
"(...) negotiation will take place sometimes later in January."
      I do not believe so.
If You look at the map of Soviet era oil pipelines, 'South Stream' and the Chinese funded 'Eurasian Land Bridge', the Balkans are due to be lost for NATO - Germany 'flipping' into a 'Greater Eurasia' integration strategy is only a matter of time, then.
NATO will either have to dissolve as a failure or fight to it's destruction - there is no 'maybe just a little destabilization' brinkmanship, anymore.
*Unconditional surrender* has already been demanded in the Kremlin.
The 'Southern Front' from the Horn of Africa to the Persian Gulf is just an element of this _world war_ - like the 'Far East Front' in the South China Sea.
The West will deploy weapons of mass destruction to compensate for their lack in manpower, compared to a united Asia and a Status-6 Poseidon, hidden under a merchant vessel may flood London, worse than in 1953 (I don't know the physics of a conventional warhead to that end, but if sufficient it rises the probability of deployment, dramatically).

US has Iran to worry about since it involved Israel and those Jewish community in America.
As for Poseidon it contains cobalt 60 in its gigantic tsunami, a nasty substance which can contaminate and radioactive the earth soil up to 105 years. It will make that piece of land inhabitable.
From what I know, WWIII will officially declared in 7th year after gigantic tsunami swept earth (Asteroid strike) and the emergence of the asteroid will be discovered during a huge war in ME (guess who vs who) and in early September. The public will be notified a day or two before the impact. So Ukraine war is the sideshow for me ME war is in focus.

You mean after consulting with the invisible people, he shakes hands with after his speaches ?...
Joe Biden is not a politican - he is a figurehead in someone's control.
"The war momentum is shifting in Russia favor especially with the offensive in the winter toward Odessa."
Hence the deployment of the 101st - unnecessary if the intention were to negotiate, anyway - and Odessa will be on the lists of territorial demands by Russia, now.
"US has Iran to worry about since it involved Israel and those Jewish community in America."
The loss of _all of Europe_ will be more relevant than an outcry by the Zionist lobby - the religious Jews cheer for Persia, anyway...
Isreal was always meant as a bridgehead toward containing the Persian Gulf, but as a covert buclear power has now become a liability - in the end, Eretz Israel will realize that is situated in Asia...
"As for Poseidon it contains cobalt 60 (...)"
Yes - but I doubt, it will be deployed with that warhead in order to avoid international criticism by other Asian nations.
"(...) the emergence of the asteroid (...)"
Scripture aside, space is indeed part of the battlefield and the recent landings and impacts on asteroids have been warned off by Sagan for that very reason - an asteroid, manipulated from orbit, certainly fits the script (including psychological preparations by 'disaster' movies).
"Ukraine war is the sideshow for me ME (...)"
It is certainly wrong to interprete a _world war_ from a Eurocentric perspective - as I said, Israel, Iran and Syria are already coordinated with frontline in the Black Sea - hence the Russian intervention in Syria in 2015 and the 'Syrian' counter-terrorism tactics in Ukraine.
Look at it as *a global confrontation between a Transatlantic and an emergent Eurasian power bloc* and all local 'chess pieces' fall into a meaningful place.

I think their design process is close to the design process of Pokemon. Gotta catch'em all.
but on a serious note, let's remember that China didn't have its 1950s/1960s golden age of aircraft design the US had back in the day for manned (and unmanned) aircraft. The US ventured in all sorts of crazy designs back then.
Today China is in the economical and geopolitical position to have a similar drive in aircraft design, only they do it in drones mainly... does this indicate the lack of test pilots competences, the lack of interest in manned aircrafts, the costs, or simply the strategic outlook whereby manned flights are considered obsolete in their view?
The effectiveness of their approach is yet to be tested on the battlefield in a real war.

When you calculate the energie required for the same object to make even 10 rotations between orbite high altitude and ocean surface compare to their little size you realise our scientific knowledge can't explain it what ever it is !!
