I'm pretty sure (could be wrong) these were my boots originally---I can tell from the repaired ding/small gouge on the outer side of the right boot. They were and are amazing and you've done a fantastic job polishing them up. Lovely review too. Enjoy!
A few years ago he made some comments online that weren't so positive about bootmakers in other countries, targeting specific brands. Some people took it as xenophobic.
He also disparaged Chinese bootmakers. Additionally, he is not a bootmaker. He is a marketeer. Miyagi Kogyo makes all of his stuff and designed the lasts he uses. He is a total fraud and, by all accounts, a complete weapon.
@@aksminster1375 And yet, the boots are so beautifully crafted, shaped, and manufactured, and of impressive quality. I own an M-43 and this exact engineer in the natural CX, and they are among my favorite boots. Your words are IMHO overshooting ("fraud/weapon") and show more emotion than objectivity. I cannot remember reading anything claiming John Logren did everything on his own. Did he claim such thing?
@@olgi2068 If you believe I am overshooting, fair enough. I think my words were entirely proportionate considering the fact the John Lofgren is not a bootmaker, is not transparent about the fact that he isn't a bootmaker (look at the brand name) and has the temerity to criticise actual bootmakers purely based on his beliefs on where things can be ethically manufactured. In my large collection, John Lofgren has no place and will never have a place. I wish you all the best in enjoying your JL in good health.
@@aksminster1375 Thanks for your reply and the best of health to you too! It sounds to me you are sour about the unnecessary and rude comments made by JL on Chinese and Indonesian bootmakers, which regarding most small brands from these countries I do NOT support at all. I disliked it too! But it doesn´t make things better to call someone a fraud/weapon based on, e.g., the point that JL is not a bootmaker but called his company JLB. What you do is different from what JL did with his hashtags in that it is more personal, but again IMHO as baseless und unnecessary. I hope you can see i am only trying to stay objective and less emotional. I think it is the only way to solve problems and show a better way of communication.
@@WeltedWareOooh. Yeah that sucks. I’d be pissed too if I sold something to someone for a good deal just for them to sell it at an up charge like that.
