It's quite underrated I feel. It's got pretty much everything that you'd think would be in a Bond film. Yeoh is fantastic and has great chemistry with Brosnan.
This is the most “formulaic” Bond movie in the best possible way. Every box gets checked and the energy/fast pace of the film makes it one of the most rewatchable in the series IMO
Yup! Like it or not, sometimes formulas work for a reason. It’s like a pop song. Maybe it’s artistically devoid but it’s a song you still hum 25 years later.
UNDERRATED!!! Not to mention David Arnold's INCREDIBLE SCORE. One of my favorites I strongly recommend that everyone go listen to "All in a Day's Work". A tremendous piece of closing music
This was my favorite of the Pierce Brosnan James Bond movies. The remote control car chase though the parking deck and the motorcycle chase was my favorite sequences. It's too bad the movie was overshadowed by Titanic.
That car garage scene was badazzz, S Crow’s intro song was my fav modern day intro, and the scary premise that felt sort of silly in the late 90s but is a living nightmare in the 2020s….. I give it a lot of props today than yesterday. Tomorrow? Well, imma go dump a mag into tomorrow 😂 jk. I rem the movie was in theaters, and felt like a couple months later it was in the bargain bin at Blockbuster so I bought it 2nd time seeing it is when I realized how silly bad a lot was, that fight scene in Michelle’s turf, the bike scene, the skyscraper scene were baaaaad
Tomorrow never dies is the Bond franchise firing on all cylinders and finding its niche in the action blockbuster era. Its realizing what its incredibly good at from the elements that were being appreciated in action thriller blockbusters and putting them all to work. Imagine if they had the time to finish it properly with a later release date. Probably still the fastest shoot as Bond movies used to start filming in January to premiere in November and this started filming in April 1997. Absolute crazy filming pace and incredible that its as good as it is.
I just finished a complete Bond marathon and I was surprised how Brosnan movies are still fun and better than I did remember, while some of the Craig movies are really boring and confusing at times.
It wasn't Craig's fault at all, though he was miscast IMO. The real fault lies in studio execs seeing how well Jason Bourne and 24 were doing and deciding to veer in that "dark, gritty" direction, when 007's always been at its best when it's tongue-in-cheek fun. You're supposed to *want* to be Bond, and nobody in their right mind would want to be the dour, brooding, miserable character Craig's playing.
The greatest Bond Opening credits. I saw Tomorrow Never Dies (in 1998 at 8 years old) I saw Golden Eye, this movie made me a James Bond fan and Pierce is my favorite bond.
I did step out of my unconditional love for the series when Pierce Brosnam was booted out (his words) from the role. It was the end of The Classy Bond era.
Tomorrow never dies one my important favourite childhood life favorite James Bond movie adventure TND AKA tomorrow never dies entertaining enjoyable action pack excited bond movie
The first Bond film I saw at the Cinema. The gadgets are cool, the car chase is excellent. The Bond girls look gorgeous and the soundtrack is top notch. Jonathan Pryce gives the villain an OTT feel that just chews the scenery. Tomorrow Never Dies is a great sequel to Goldeneye. It’s a shame the next two sequels didn’t hit the mark as well.
This was the very first 007 movie I had ever seen in my life. My earliest memory of watching it was watching that awesome parking garage sequence. So partially because of this film, and aside from him just being awesome in the role, Pierce Brosnan is my favorite Bond of all time.
This was my first James Bond movie my father brought me. We both dont know English back then. Never understood anything, but the action itself hooked me to be a lifelong James Bond movie even when my father stopped watching.
another gr8 vdo from Joblo, only they can do such stuff and this movie was almost butchered by the Titanic "wave" having been released nearly the same day and I opted to watch this first...and can tell u it's sadly the last great Bond movie Brosnan did... mainly due to the script being ahead of its time, the sexy locations and of course the action. Love it...gr8 soundtrack too...
Wow amazing behind the scene story drama behind the scenes making the movie 🍿 tomorrow never dies still entertaining enjoyable action pack excited bond movie adventure of my favorites James Bond in pierce brosnan James Bond movie era tomorrow never dies fun type Bond movie
We all played the Goldeneye game when I was at Uni, then this movie came out at the perfect time for us, we all went to see it three times in the cinema. I love the S.Crow opening song.
I like Tomorrow Never Lies better because it fits in with the stories narrative because the media corporation is called Tomorrow and the plot is they’re creating lies to profit off of.
I always loved this movie when it came out… it was my first new Bond film after I became a fan with Goldeneye both movie and game. Carver is my favorite type of Bond Villian he’s up there with Drax for me
My favourite Brosnan outing, just beating Goldeneye by a hair. Action packed, fast paced, a plot that resonates more as time goes on. Brosnan (my weakest Bond) is fantastic and IMO finally plays James Bond in the scene between him and Dr Kaufman (shame he was in only one scene) Pryce is OTT, and the action scenes are some of the very best of the series. The same goes for the score, one of the very best of the series.
A solid watchable Bond film with an amazing score and some great action. Arguably just as good as a '90s' Bond film as Goldeneye, but Goldeneye is far superior in story, performances and pacing.
It's my favorite Brosnan Bond film, great story, great villain and great action, plus Michelle Yeoh, Michelle Yeoh, Michele Yeoh!!! Did I mention Michelle Yeoh?
Wow, never knew anyone thought badly about this movie. I saw it the weekend it came out and thought it was amazing and still think its one of the best Bond movies.
Growing up I thought this movie was cheesy but when I rewatched it last year man it was prophetic in how the media is used. Or the media was always like that and I just became more aware of it. I love Brosnan’s Bond so much except for the last one he did.
As mentioned in the video, and also by several users, this gem of a film is full of great phrases that have unfortunately become reality in these 27 years, in fact one doesn't even know which one to choose to quote: Carver: Mr Jones, are we ready to release our new software? Jones: Yes, sir. As requested, it's full of bugs, which means people will be forced to upgrade for years. Carver: Outstanding!
The kd lang end credit song Surrender was meant to be the main theme. The score references it often, the brass motif. Way better song than Sheryl Crow’s one.
Goldeneye is anti-Cuba dishonesty. The Cuban govt prioritises people above other things way more than other countries, while that film pretended that the notoriously warmongering UK govt is humane & Cuba’s govt are terrorist war mongers.
i saw this at the movies in 1997 when I was 10 it was my first movie I saw alone :) my brothers and sisters went to go see titanic and since I didn't want to see that my brother bought my ticket to see this which was a pain because I had to wait in the movies for like an extra hr 1.2 because titanic was like 3hrs long
By the time 'Tomorrow' came out, I had already seen LA Confidential twice. I was not happy. I was very concerned how bloated it looked. This of course would only be the beginning. Later it did grow on me quite a bit after the DVD came out. Goldeneye is still my fav of the Brosnan Bonds. The best Bond of course is sitting next to your son, watching his first Bond.
I'm sorry I have to disagree with the entire premise that TND turned in to a great movie decades later, that's utter nonsense. It was great at release and is still great to this day.
I like this film more than any other Bond film since Licence to Kill. I like the fact that a western agent & Chinese agent joined forces. I dislike films that portray the countries targetted by US imperialism as “evil”. I.e. I’m not into films that scapegoat the targets of US imperialism and try to brainwash people into supporting cold wars and kinetic wars.
I would say this was the last really good Bond film. The later Pierce Brosnan movies were fun, but a bit too silly. Despite some great performances in other films, Daniel Craig just hates the character so much that he sucks any fun out of his movies.
Never would have regarded it as a key film in the franchise... Best to worst Brosnan: Goldeneye The World is Not Enough Tomorrow Never Dies And a long way down, far far far away, Die Another day. Which if not obvious, is complete 💩
This villain feels too close to possible to enjoy it hypothetically now. Just the idea of wars being literally started with intent by a megalomaniacal media billion just to stimulate news engagement with his media properties feels a little scary. Even the GPS spoofing thing feels freakishly realistic.
This James Bond movie wasn't that great and Teri Hatcher was wasted in this movie she didn't do anything but has a small role or a cameo she may best as Lois Lane but there's no Superman to save her in this movie.
One of the worst 007 movies. Bond turned into an one-man-army with dual-wielding machine guns in the lame finale. Carver was cingeworthy, Stamper was lame. Overall, it was just a "let´s check all Bond tropes"-movie and have nonstop action without heart, character and depths.
“Words are the new weapons. Satellite’s the new artillery” is pretty prophetic
“There’s no news like BAD NEWS!” 💯💯💯💯💯💯
It was 25 yrs ahead of its time telling us what would happen in real life is what.
come off it... rupert murdoch was never THAT bad.
@@RoverIAC its about misinformation so yes it is accurate to what is happening in the world now
It's quite underrated I feel. It's got pretty much everything that you'd think would be in a Bond film. Yeoh is fantastic and has great chemistry with Brosnan.
I agree and still better than most of Craigs films and it is spectacular in its 4k release
This is the most “formulaic” Bond movie in the best possible way. Every box gets checked and the energy/fast pace of the film makes it one of the most rewatchable in the series IMO
Exactly. I love it and I generally don't like OG overly formulaic Bond (i.e. directed by Guy Hamilton)
Yup! Like it or not, sometimes formulas work for a reason. It’s like a pop song. Maybe it’s artistically devoid but it’s a song you still hum 25 years later.
Has one if not the best opening of a james bond film ever
That was stealing the plane right? Jesus I forgot about that, that scene was legit 💯
He's going for the bombs! 😮
@@gregofcanada4494 oh yeah the missiles? Legit
back seat driver.
UNDERRATED!!! Not to mention David Arnold's INCREDIBLE SCORE. One of my favorites
I strongly recommend that everyone go listen to "All in a Day's Work". A tremendous piece of closing music
He really created a masterpiece with that score
100% agreed
This was my favorite of the Pierce Brosnan James Bond movies. The remote control car chase though the parking deck and the motorcycle chase was my favorite sequences. It's too bad the movie was overshadowed by Titanic.
It might also be my fave PB bond.
That car garage scene was badazzz, S Crow’s intro song was my fav modern day intro, and the scary premise that felt sort of silly in the late 90s but is a living nightmare in the 2020s…..

Mine, too.
The most underrated Bond movie. It’s my personal 4th favorite on my Bond list
Tomorrow never dies is the Bond franchise firing on all cylinders and finding its niche in the action blockbuster era. I agree that it really took the best parts of the Bond formula and dialed them up to 11
Also the score is one of the best in the whole series IMO
remember when James Bond was fun and escapist and had fun gadgets without any politics?
Michelle Yeoh was fucking great in this movie. Just fantastic role and presence
I just finished a complete Bond marathon and I was surprised how Brosnan movies are still fun and better than I did remember, while some of the Craig movies are really boring and confusing at times.
Unfortunately, Casino Royale wrote a check that the rest of the Craig series just couldn't cash. And it's not the fault of Craig.
@@michaelmiller3012 Indeed. I gave up after "Quantum of Solace" - I didn't bother with the rest.
Craig had two good movies and three crap ones.
Most underrated James Bond movie IMO! Banger opening scene, cool gadgets, great villian and a great plot! Awesome!

Hey, I'm a James Bond fan, so JoBo, You can revisit 007, anytime and I'll watch it. 👍🏾
Judy Dench gave that whole Brosnan/Craig cross over a very weird continuity....
I remember when this movie came out, and how excited my Bond obsessed uncle was...and how upset he was after 😂
People in 1997: "Starting a war for ratings....oh please"
People in 2024: "Yep, that would definitely happen"
I still play the Sheryl Crowe song from time to time. 😊
Pierce bronsnan is that bond! Such a good movie just too far ahead of its time indeed. Elliott carver loved webtv lol who remembers webtv?
While many call TND by the numbers, it always felt like a return to form to me. Plus a far better soundtrack by David Arnold than Goldeneye’s.

Admiral: What the hell is he doing?
M: His job.
I always dismissed this movie, then I remember watching it after the Ultimate Edition dvd sets came out and it was super enjoyable.
It's my fav bond film. Perfect balance of everything Bond. And the villain and concept are extremely memorable.
Wow amazing behind the scene story drama behind the scenes making the movie 🍿 tomorrow never dies still entertaining enjoyable action pack excited bond movie adventure of my favorites James Bond in pierce brosnan James Bond movie era tomorrow never dies fun type Bond movie
The Ericsson JB988 is my favorite gadget of all
Wow, TIL that Anthony Hopkins was originally attached. Luckily for them, Jonathan Pryce nailed the Carver character and was so memorable in that role.

They even held an international competition for Bond song, in which sadly Swan Lee’s ‘Tomorrow never dies’ lost to Sheryl
A solid watchable Bond film with an amazing score and some great action. Arguably just as good as a '90s' Bond film as Goldeneye, but Goldeneye is far superior in story, performances and pacing.
The second best Bond movie in the Pierce Brosnan era
It's the sort of Bond film I'd love to see again to be honest. Craig era was draining and makes you realise how good Brosnan was.
I liked what Bo Deitle on the Don Imus show had to say about this film back then.
It's my favorite Brosnan Bond film, great story, great villain and great action, plus Michelle Yeoh, Michelle Yeoh, Michele Yeoh!!! Did I mention Michelle Yeoh?
This is my second favorite Bond movie and I would’ve NEVER thought there was this much trouble. I only knew of Brosnan getting his face busted up.
Wow, never knew anyone thought badly about this movie. I saw it the weekend it came out and thought it was amazing and still think its one of the best Bond movies.

Perfect timing when there was a new mission, impossible trailer out today
Whoa, Robert Maxwell!!!! I had no idea!
It's kind of hilariously nostalgic to go back to a time where a guy with a cable news and print media conglomerate was a worldbeater.
As mentioned in the video, and also by several users, this gem of a film is full of great phrases that have unfortunately become reality in these 27 years, in fact one doesn't even know which one to choose to quote:

Fun fact: The bmw bike was designed by my dad and his team 👍
It's my favorite Brosnan Bond film. The plot to bring Britain and China into war was hella interesting
How bout What Happened to Total Recall (2012)?
Hands down my fave bond theme song....sherry crow absolutely was stellar
*The Empire WILL Strike Back*

I need to give this another chance especially because of Yeoh! Saw it in cinemas and maybe one home viewing since then
The Island of Dr Moreau with Val Kilmer has some really good WTF stories 😵💫
The best car chase in the entire Bond series. I think this movie holds up rather well and has a story which could easily apply to today's society.
One of the best EVER
Love that film 🎞 great review!
back when James Bond was a escapist entertainment with gadgets, great quips a charming leading man and just fun.
Ironically I watched this 2 nights ago lol. I always did like this one, it's formulaic but it's a competent entry.
I'm sorry I have to disagree with the entire premise that TND turned in to a great movie decades later, that's utter nonsense. It was great at release and is still great to this day.
One of my JB personal favorites.

I've always been a fan of this film, heck I thought it's the best Bond of the Brosnan's era. I wasn't a big fan of GoldenEye, shocking I know. 😅
I would say this was the last really good Bond film. The later Pierce Brosnan movies were fun, but a bit too silly. Despite some great performances in other films, Daniel Craig just hates the character so much that he sucks any fun out of his movies.
a good, fun Bond movie - Moby did the best Bond soundtrack ever!
What happened to it? It still exists and sits in my DVD collection. Click baity thumbnail.
The movie was solid, I think it was more disappointing that we never got an n64 follow up to goldeneye 007
Back when Bond movies were fun. Back before they tried to shoehorn pointless arcs into everything and just did great standalone movies.
1:21 What you talking bout Willis??!!
Never would have regarded it as a key film in the franchise...
Best to worst Brosnan:
Goldeneye
The World is Not Enough
Tomorrow Never Dies
And a long way down, far far far away, Die Another day. Which if not obvious, is complete 💩
Producer “Michael G. WILLIS”? Who’s that
Never Say Tomorrow Never Dies Until Another Day
They'll print anything these days
When this movie came out I thought it was trash
I watched it again recently, and it’s…not as bad as I remember. And relevant as well?? 🤔😬😅
It's a pretty perfect Bond movie.
Calle me when you do Die Another Day, now *that* will be worth a “what happened”.
Tomorrow died.
I thought it was great back then. My co-workers at that time thought i was nuts. I thought Bond formula applied and executed well.
My favourite Bond movies are the ones where he has a female counterpart (Tomorrow Never Dies & Die Another Day).
👍👍👍🎥
What do you mean what happened?
It got filmed & released many many years ago
why is this even a video?
This villain feels too close to possible to enjoy it hypothetically now. Just the idea of wars being literally started with intent by a megalomaniacal media billion just to stimulate news engagement with his media properties feels a little scary. Even the GPS spoofing thing feels freakishly realistic.
Now we know it was visionary. I think someone like Elon Musk with his X has become the villain of this movie.
Sure. Musk is trying to control the world by allowing free speech and trying to stop censorship.
Delicious

Not watching this video. From previous experience, it says that it's a bad Bond film. And it's wrong.
about time 007 got dat asian fever...she is only good part of that movie
😂😂😂😂😂
This James Bond movie wasn't that great and Teri Hatcher was wasted in this movie she didn't do anything but has a small role or a cameo she may best as Lois Lane but there's no Superman to save her in this movie.
