Working in a high-performance bicycle shop along the coast of Northern California, inventor Dezsö Molnár is building the second model of his gyrocycle. Yep, this rocket scientist is making his own flying car--all by hand. This is something we had to check out!

What I like most of this video is that the guy who was a motor cycle guy turned into a highly knowledgeable aviation engineer not because it was his job but because he developed a passion for it.. love it!
Genius. This is idea/concept shows real promise especially interesting putting the engine with the prop oriented fore instead of aft solving the dangerous pitch-over situation.
Amazing build in the garage, I am so digging it. This guy seems like a really cool cat.
What a great show and what a great episode, thanks!
Totally AMAZING!!! Please make more awesome videos/interviews like this!
great video cant wait to see the new version in action
Impressive! Gotta respect the ingenuity and engineering behind these crafts
Amazing. Always had a soft spot in my heart for Gyros.
0:41 1:11 2:01 3:22 3:33 3:53 4:21 4:36 5:09 5:14 6:29 6:49 8:43 8:46 9:32 10:38 10:51 11:42 12:19 12:41 14:32 14:46 15:07 15:41 That was 23 basically
Brilliant! I never thought about what would happen if parts came off the engine. But your idea is inspired. I am planing on building an ultralight Gryo Copter, I might take this idea of yours to heart. Very good, keep it up.
Dezso is a very smart man using the smartest angle to bring this into the market.
I love reading watching about gyroplanes, and to see this development is a great thrill. Good luck Dezso.
Good job. Amazing work.
Sok sikert Dezső!
Aloha.
Putting the Piaggio MP3 front suspension on that was genius.
I ride the Piaggio MP3 250ie & 500ie, and the handling is amazing.
Fantastic video!
Innovative and very very creative !!!
Awesome overload!
Szép munka.Gratulálok.
Ez nagyon komoly gép gratulálok!Remélem láthatjuk teljes desing-el is!
This is why I love tested!! :)
Very cool project.
i also like the twin wheel version,as a enclosed motorcycle with some body panels,it makes a nice cruise vehicle. He might want to shorten the wheelbase and develop it as a kit along side his gyro copter.I love the long length for stability in the air.
This is an excellent idea, remarkably innovative, leave no stones un turned and it may be successful.
Awesome design concept.
That thing looks pretty badass, just as a motorcycle. Great feature, Norm.
More on this. DEAR GOD MORE!!!!
Szép munka!
Wow! Very nice, looks heavy, but it looks strong. His second version looks much better. We might be witnessing the birth of a new company in the aircraft industry. I'd love to be involved in something like that.
Its amazing guys, you can take your time to your working place and do not have to worry being caught in highway jam. The only facility needed in open space to land.
great man!!
This is a very sharp guy with a vision.
Awesome dude!
For all of those critics out there, this is the closest I've seen to a roadable aircraft aside from the Pal-V, and his "engine behind the propeller" idea is not something I've seen, even on airplanes. The problem with gyroplanes is scaling them up without jeopardizing the COG. This is a novel attempt to get around that. I am excited to see where this idea goes. Obviously, the flying stability will make or break the success of the design. This guy isn't just some hack in a bike shop.
The P-39 Aircobra had an engine pretty far back. My biggest worry here would be weight distribution. If they can keep it from being massively tail-heavy, then I don't see any reason it wouldn't be a perfectly viable aircraft.
I thought most airplanes had the engine behind the propeller
kdjhsdfhdslfkj They do, but not with the engine itself behind the pilot.
Touche. I meant to say, "engine behind the propeller in a pusher configuration".
I am not a fan of cars too! So nice to hear that come from someone else.
I like this guy alot! makes me think about my brother. Big ideas are what this world needs. not profitable ones...
:)
That is very cool!
Excellent
This is interesting. As in vary. I am moving to the Philippines where innovations is welcome. I can see your bike with modified bench seats on the left and right sides for passengers . When water is in countered the benches swing downward to become snow skis and the mounts for Full Lotus floats for travel to any beach. Extra passengers travel in ground effect but when only 2 passengers then take to the air. Each float would be divided into 2 per side.
did you mention Kenya? I love this. you are a great inventor. Take me for a tour once you are here in Kenya Nairobi Masai Mara.
I love this . multi thinking
GREAT VIDEO
I like your job, well done. I wanted to participate in this act.
you guys get to go see the most badass people and stuff!
Very nice
the most awesome thing ever.
I want one of those so bad!
Amazing!
this dude sees it. the gyrocopter is such a great way to get the masses flying
really I was just looking like ''dude where are the downsides to this?? ''
Matevž Kaplan not many, I think. although the heights may be a problem for some
@@187warlordthere’s far too many obstacles for this vehicle. It will never achieve an FAA clearance or be able to operate on roadways, the costs would be astronomical and resistance would even be greater. The Gov does not want us having autonomy
The pitch problem he is discussing is usually solved in Autogyros by extending the rear tail to change the center of gravity. I am not en engineer, however, I believe that is what many modern push Autogyro manufacturers are doing, extending the rear tail and adding winglets.
Love it!
Awesome I love it
Thats really cool.
Igazán megkapó elképzelés és kivitelezés!!!
Awesome 👍
Good job!,i like it :)
Love this car plane!! The only thing since it is with all gyro planes the rear propeller, I don't see it on this video. I really do love it. You said it was built near in 10 years, is there anyway you could tell me the final cost to build it??
makes sense and is cost effective and proven practicality!
passionnant !
spulling?
man that is an amazing name
really want this
I like this alot
love the gsx-r morrors :))
The butterfly autogyro, you guys and one more readable autogyro and you got a race!
Ez nagyon Jó!!
This, is awesome :o
Amazing builds but i must say the 2nd one has a beefy looking belt, When you see the belt on the 1st one it looks dangerously thin in comparison. I would say that if there were no nasty accidents so far with the 1st design then they should probably beef that up before they break a belt in a bad situation. However if testing! they should be in a safe zone and the good things about autogyros is that they can autorotate and land without power.
Now someone must combine the jet pack with the wingsuit, it would be super compact and super cool.
very cool
6:15 Why does he cut him off when he's saying how much a mail-order rotor set costs?
This is sick
props to Norm for getting very close on the Hungarian pronunciation!
Kenosha Wisconsin is near Oshkosh (which has one of the largest airshows in the world) and Harleys. It would make sense to fly around there to get Harley Davidson interested and others in the flight industry.
I love the design considerations, brilliant! Take a look at the thought/design process on the dymaxion car by buckminster fuller, they would be good to add to the mix on this "flying vehicle" design: aerodynamic body and undercarriage and 3 wheel design (film/video of the car exist) The 3 wheel dymaxion was designed to be a flying car however the technology to realize the design didn't exist in 1932. I am merely suggesting that the "ideal" design notes that Bucky Fuller had for the Dymaxion apply, not the actual car that was built. By the way a Brit recreated a working Car, good You Tube video.
kutomba wewe na maoni yako kijinga. kwenda kuua mwenyewe tafadhali =)
Awesome! Question: Will the motorcycle engine be starved for oil at steep angles of attack?
Would anyone happen to know where I can order the same a similar rotor head assembly that Dezsö is using?
Wow. Mister expert. Such insight.
Before you bash, built yourself. Also internet expert to start a project you always start with function. When you work for someone you do form first and fit function in. Doesn't work the other way round.
Király :D
my man!!! u so right rated you and sub you .
Holy shit! I didn't even know such things existed!
This dude is a real life Tony Stark. Dezsö Molnár MAKE AN IRON SUITE!
Nice!
Nice design. But I also want to know the beginning of the video, the two host behind the towering tree is what the tree
bro can you please help me how to make this mention the parts of this copter
I am interested in getting one.
sir IAM from India can we use ordanery 200 cc air cooled bike engine for auto gyro can it gives enough thrust to generate lift sir please replay me sir
I heard that the all the upper part could be bought somewhere, but where?
Kiráály!!
That Gyrocycle is bitchen! This is just the beginning; it will get more compact and cleaner once dedicated components are developed and utilized. In the eighties, I thought my 900 Ninja was the best thrill until I flew my Buddy's Cherokee -whoa!
Sweet!
amazing😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
SWEET!!!
Pretty fly for a rocket scientist.
What a great I inovation on a 80 year old design. Before being skeptical about the non powered rotor, be aware that it spins be simply moving forward. Lift is the result.
See 'ya at Oshkosh.
With the prop so close to the pilot. What are the chances of a body part coming in contact with it? Especially the 2nd seat.
When will the second prototype be ready for flight??
Weight-bearing propeller chaft is interesting idea.
I wonder what happen with this amazing project now in year 2022.
Bill breadlove son Bill was my motorcycle mechanics teacher and he is working on a new land speed car he is a great teacher and I'm sure he could help with your design
OK, this video is now over 5 years old - any updates?
What about puting to fan motors in front to give you hover on your gyro copter.
