    This is the best review of the Dynacaster on RUclips. I had watched them all (except yours) and recently bought the Dynacaster to replace my trusty SM7b. Running through a DBX 286s for broadcast/podcast, the Dynacaster just blows me away with how excellent it is; sound quality, plosives, sibilance, handles all them beautifully. The built in Cloudlifter is super-convenient, as the 286 only has 60dB gain and sizzles a bit when wide open. That problem is now completely solved. I run mine with the HF shelf #2, because me voice needs the articulation. For broadcast, I even roll the bass off. And it's a good looker too :-)

      I bought it about 4 months ago, a great pro is that the mic doesn't obstruct your face if you do video podcasts like the RE320 or RE20. Incidentally, I sold my RE320 and got the Dynacastor not only because of the features but also the much smaller footprint.

    I think the SE Dynacaster would be a great microphone for your guests. You can set it depending on their voices and how they speak. The Dynacaster will have its place among many studios. Discovering your channel is a blessing. Thank you for this.

    Excellent comparisons, thoughts and recommendations! Thanks for making this. I have both the SM7B and the RE320, and have wondered how the Dynacaster might compare, at different settings. You have completely satisfied my curiosity about this. Now, if I had it all to do over, would I just buy the Dynacaster instead? Maybe, maybe not -- there is also something to the point you made, about the special look and appeal of the SM7B and the EV mics, and the "feeling" of using them.

    Your review is excellent. I've used the RE320 for several years and have been more than happy with its sound. That said, I decided to add an SM7B or RE20 to the mic locker. I've watched other reviews for the SE Dynacaster that started me thinking this SE mic might be a better choice than either the 7B or RE20. Your thorough review helped me decide to purchase the SE Dynacaster rather than the Shure or EV mic. Thanks for taking the time and doing the work this review obviously required. Well done!

    Nah bro, this review was very thorough and has been the best comparison video that I have seen for these particular mics.I think it is ample!I think I will be opting to the SE Dynacaster now. I live in Melbourne Aus and the SM7B is a good AUD$300+ more than both the Dynacaster and Re320. I was considering forking out the extra cash because of the warm sound that I know I was going to miss out on, which I really love. But knowing how it compares with the SE Dynacaster and how similar it can get really makes it seem silly for me to get the sm7b for 'coolness' factor. Thank you for your work! and again, amazing review.

    Respect to you as well, dont cut yourself short you do a very good job from the breakdown all the way to the editing IMO. I went from the PD70 to a AT2040 (that I LOVE the High/Mid-High/Mid tone) that if it had just a smidge more natural bass I would have stayed with. Being I'm pretty far away from a big metropolitan area where I could go and test mic's I ordered both a RE320 and RE20 and tried them out. I kept the 20 and returned the 320 the very next day. Never tried a 7B but two of the guys I livestream with have them and one has a AT2020 but he's in a treated room so he can get away with running a condenser.

      Thanks Nick! Same here, I could not get an RE20 on time but I figured since it‘s around 540-570€ around here it would not be a great comparison anyway (the SM7B is normally on sale for 350-ish €)
      I did not mean to cut myself short, I really like those channels but didn‘t want to repeat what they have already said, so I hope people get a fresh perspective. Appreciate the comment as always and hope you are getting the best out of your RE20 (shame that the fancy pop-filter that I see everyone wrapping around it is not available in Europe).

      @@PodcastMeister I like those channels too, and I'm subbed to them as well.
      I bought two pop filters for RE20's, one orange one blue. They come from a store in the Netherlands. Tom Buck hipped me to them. Reporterstore doat comma. I spelled it wrong to get past the filter.
      And I have 2 RE20's I would have mailed you one! You'd just have to mail it back when finished! 😉👍🏽

      @@PodcastMeister WOW!!!! Yeah that ain't gonna work, that's too expensive. I got pop filters that fit my RE20's you'd swear they were made for them. Perfect fit. And shipping Dutch Post to California then switch to FedEx for final shipment to Texas was around $55 if I remember correctly.

    Man, I do appreciate the obvious effort and I was so lovingly cheated in the beginning, well done. And yes, the SE Dynacaster seem to be a great sounding mic nevertheless. If I needed another dynamic mic I'd still go with the SM7B. I already have an MV7 which I'm very pleased with, and comparing the prices of the Dynacaster and the SM7B, the latter is only some €80 more expensive here in Sweden. IN that case I'd go with that one, also in order to accommodate any future guests in my productions. A standard is a standard. The RE320 goes away because of the plosives anyway...
    Thank you for a great presentation!

    • @PodcastMeister
      @PodcastMeister  2 года назад

      Thanks Mac! Yes, mic choice is an absolute personal preference and the SM7B is a standard for a reason. Don‘t you get the popping issue with the MV7? I haven‘t tried it yet but I hear it’s windscreen does have room for improvement.

    • @HomesickMac
      @HomesickMac 2 года назад +1

      @@PodcastMeister Oh yes, the MV7 isn't at all as good at rejecting plosives, but I'm angling it a bit more from my mouth and I'm careful. The value of this mic is 150% of the price, I really feel I've got more than I hoped for. The USB connectivity and the run & gun setup with the Shure app, and then the XLR reliability with the Rodecaster Pro II and the Arturia Studio Fuse, it's a great mic.

    Hello, please can somebody help me? i just bought a dynacaster + wave xlr, and only with 30-45 db of gain it sounds very much of background noise, and my voice is not too lauder in comparicion with the background noise taken. It is my first experiencdesperatee with dynamic microphones, so i dont know if this is normal, to have that much background noise, like a coundersor my im really desperate be cause i dont know if something is wrong or maybe i recived something broken and i cant notice it be cause of my no expeirience with this king of mics.
    More details: at 30-40 db of gain (40 direct from wave xlr or even with +30db preamp with phantom power +10db in wave xlr.) and with the door and windows open, there can be captured by the microphone the sound of birds, and the sound of my dogs barking from arround 33 feet, or the sound of my fan in the room, from arround 6 feet away, no treated room. My voice is not really to lauder in this setting, so i dont undertand why mi mic has the behaaviour of my old usb condensor mic. I dont see no one in videos having this problem. All personn that review this mic do not have this problem, they are well listened, and with practicle 0 background noise ¿Some body knows what is happening? ¿should i ask for the waranty of my mic or audio interface?
