The IT Crowd is a British sitcom originally broadcast by Channel 4, written and directed by Graham Linehan, produced by Ash Atalla and starring Chris O'Dowd, Richard Ayoade, Katherine Parkinson, and Matt Berry. Set in the offices of the fictional Reynholm Industries in London, the series revolves around the three staff members of its IT (Information Technology) department: technical genius Maurice Moss (Ayoade); work-shy Roy Trenneman (O'Dowd); and Jen Barber (Parkinson).

I know their shoddy basement is supposed to symbolise their low position at the company.
However the older I am, the more I think that sitting in a secluded basement with a mate who's sharing your vibes, with next to no visitors, is an absolute dream work environment. Barring WFH of course.
You will never understand how realistic this is unless you have worked in IT for a large company

@@mullythebully5557 i am working in a large corporations. Our computers often throw random errors and just dont work for no reason. And all of the problems magically disappear when i arrive to IT department with my laptop. And then i'm standing there like a complete idiot who cant push a power button. I'm sure IT people see regular users like a bunch of neanderthals

@@Mart77it all depends. If you swear you've restarted your PC while it shows an uptime of 10+ days or can't tell basic cable types from one another you might be deemed "less capable". We're well aware random issues appear and disappear on their own though, more issues than you might think are "solved" simply by making the call to IT.
@@Mart77 One of my users couldn't figure out how the scrolling wheel on his mouse worked. We also used to have this whiteboard wiper in the shape of a mouse, and I have done the old switcheroo on multiple occasions, just to see how long it would take the user to see the felted bottom. Haha good times

I worked as an IT guy a long time ago, I enjoyed this TV show then and I enjoy it now.
It’s amazing. This series currently goes down in history as a definition of goofy humour. It’ll be immortalised
Chris Morris steals the show every scene he appears.
Matt Berry was brilliant too, but Chris Morris was a level above.

I can't believe that it's still the best production to show how working in IT is. Love it!
The opening scene actually happened to me when I worked in IT. Our office manager asked me why her computer wasn't working even though it was turned on. It was because she didn't turn on her monitor 😅 God I miss those days :)

Graham Linehan can't get any sitcom writing work any more. He has been cancelled because he believes men can't become women and people with penises should not be able to force their way into female-only spaces under cover of law or political correctness.
Graham Linehan did write another pilot for a series, and I watched it. It was truly horrible. He might be out of material. He's sort of a has-been at this point.

I almost laugh my ass off when I first watched it. I laughed so much that I held my head with both hands, pressing my lower jaw to keep it from shaking because it hurt so much from laughing. The next day, I had muscle pain in all over my face and stomach.

I was called in to a computer that didn’t work. Black screen. Box was turned on.
As I walked through the door, I noticed that the power cord to the screen wasn’t plugged all the way in.
I picked up a cup of pens and slow danced around the desk while chanting and shaking the cup.. hey ya hey ay hey yaa yaa yaa…. You get the drift.
As I passed the back of the screen I pushed the plug all the way in.
My college talked about it for weeks.

On my Samsung it was jumpy crackling but casting to tv seems fine
The audio was fine. The cracking was intended, as that's how it sounded to her when she couldn't understand what he was saying about computers. 😅
