I hope these arent dumb questions but do the parent pokemon matter in determining the egg's shinyness? im more interested in shinies then IV's and at 4:22 ur pokefinder display changes to have more options, is there a setting to change to show more options?
It switches to IV display from pid. The parents don’t matter if you just want shiny. You can skip parent part and only do coin flips for shiny
So if the first seed that determines shininess/nature/gender/ability said more then twenty advances, like thirty for instance, does that mean after the first twenty coin flips before leaving the daycare, I should flip the coin in the game ten more times and then walk to generate an egg?

Is there a way to force an encounter without advancing frames other than sweet scent? I wanted to rng a Snover in Acuity Lakefront but sweet scent only works in clear weather.

Yeah...I'm not gonna bother with the IVs anymore. Got my shiny egg, but can't figure out the correct Chatots for my desired IVs for hours. I either get the correct seed + NPC moving or one incorrect seed + no NPC moving OR something else is going on I don't understand. But still thanks for the video. As mentionend, I got my shiny egg :D
I sincerely recommend breeding on any other gen 4 version than diamond and pearl. This is a great guide if they are they only ones available to you, but the hidden power type checker and the judge in platinum will make this easier, and the RNG manipulation is much easier in HGSS due to lack of moving NPC's.
They only small nitpick I would have is it should be possible to fly to the survival area and get a lot of levels in a single battle if you don't have any rare candies. If you limit it to one battle and you don't give the newly hatched pokémon pokérus you will keep all EV's under 4 which is functionally 0 for stat calculation. This should let you verify stats even if you are out of rare candies.

Hi love your content. Question is the SID needed if I don't care about shiny status, but care about the IV's hidden power etc.
Not blisy but afaik the SID is only needed for shininess.
I've been doing this for years on and off myself and I can confirm, if you're just going for ivs, you don't need your sid.
Is there a way to know your SID? do you have a video about it?
In the version of Pokefinder that I downloaded, the features shown in your video are either non-existent or have been replaced with something else. Mainly, the "Method" dropdown bar is completely absent from the RNG Info box (I.E. I have no idea how to properly generate a shiny egg regardless of the IVs) and the singular "Advances" column is split into "Held Advances" and "Pickup Advances", making it hard to tell how many coin flips I need to do. Do you know how I can get access to the version you're using in your video?
just download version 4.0.1 or one of the older 4.0 versions and it should work
Why do I keep hatching pokemon with the right ability, nature, and gender after confirming the seed and they still aren't shiny? I have shiny categorization set to star only. Gender ratio is correct. No idea what's going on. Both parents are same species and idc about their IVs but I did input the IVs into the calculator. Help appreciated
So with the npcs turning and then moving would it advance the frames by 4 since it was 2 npcs that did so?
The issue with counting is there's TONS of offscreen NPCs that you can't see if or how much they move. It's why I jumped so far!

Hi blisy, you have a lot of knowledge about this games so Im wondering if you now how the pokemon events worked on gen 3? Im trying to get every berry in the game on my platinum cartridge but there is one single berry that I can only get from a gen 3 event (because I don't own a game cube or pokewalker). Im having a hard time trying to get the e-reader emulator to work but even if it did work im not shure if that would help because the event Im looking for is very obscure and specific. Sorry for the long comment, I now its a bit random but I would appreciate any help!

@@imablisy Its the apicot berry witch according to bulbapedia can only be found on the pokewalker, colosseum and the 2005 Tanabata Jirachi event (you can find it on the japanese gen 3 event list).

@@imablisy I don´t have a wii either :(. the only consoles I have (that can help me in this situation) are the ds lite and the gameboy (also I have an r4 for each console)

Ah the memories. This was how I got my first 'legit' shiny in a Pokemon game, actually. (Though I think I may have done a bit of 'soft' cheating to find my secret ID initially...?) Though I don't recall using Chatot. I think I was ride or die on the coinflips- albeit this was like 2009.

Nice tips for those moving NPCs. Never occurred to me to let them move first and catch up on the Chatots. Would have made a Pearl Manaphy egg pickup easier!

Hope I can get some help :( I'm using a 3DS and the second timer stops waaay sooner than the game's title screen loads. Do I have to calibrate the eon timer in a different way for a 3DS? even selecting 3DS in the eon timer doesn't help. Or do I have to choose another initial seed?
Find another seed with a longer delay (increase minimal delay in the filters)
changing the year keeps flipping which even or old delay my system is hitting so i cant hit the right seed
If anyone's thinks this doesn't work, it does!!! I like this method so much I get shiny all perfect I'vs on my platinum now its fun!!
