Even more amazing than their musicianship, is their ability to play everything by ear or memory. I have heard them perform for 2 hour live concerts without ever having music or a music stand in front of them.
Indeed not easy but IMHO many rehearsals and the fact that almost all the pieces are written in obvious keys for mostly familiar melodies, I think it is not as difficult as it looks, nonetheless and despite the fact that I am convinced that this is super fun to do for them, this is absolutely top sport and enforces respect.
As a non musician, I never understood this. Why do most classical orchestras or performers still need sheet music onstage? They must know the pieces they play by heart, right? Modern musicians don't use sheet music, actors or comedians don't need a script.
@@BartvanHam90 There are many reasons for this. I think this more or less comes down to rehearsal as well as different jobs. By this I mean musicians playing in bands especially professionals who play with whoever hires them that week. These are professionals who read sheet music like you read letters. Little to no rehearsal just play your gig and your good. Saying modern musicians don't use sheet music is as far as I am aware just not true. They may not need them that 1 take they are recording or if they are doing 1 solo. I don't think you will see any "modern musician" just sit down in an orchestra and wing it. It all comes down to different jobs, different methods. And just to add on to the last part about comedians; They do have scripts but by the time they are performing their set they know it of by heart, and they can ad lib as they please around that.

They're making fun of the intro tune of a German/Austrian TV show called "Heidi". It's about an Austrian orphaned girl who grows up in the alps, becomes friends with a goatherd, and feeds the farm animals. (look up Gitti und Erika - Heidi, and you'll understand).
Wittily taking their musicianship lightly, they don't betray their art. Thank you , Gentlemen.
Lovely comment, spot on. Thank you, Sir!

You're right, it seems as though it is super fun for them to do. They obviously love to rehearse and perform.
Not just the music, the memory and creativity for all their choreography is just as noteworthy in my opinion

I had the pleasure to watch them live once. Unfortunately i was very young back then and I don‘t remember much, still love them!

Performers randomly start making farm animal noises in America; people get weirded out and leave. In Europe, they start to laugh.
I don’t understand
Maybe the Americans haven't the right sense of humor...

Wich language do you want to use? Italian, French or English?
I'd love to hear more melodic yodeling like at the start, any recommendations?
I'm the first one to like this comment
listen to barbershop quartets. usually not as high of a tessitura but the harmony with overtones is still there.

So from one tuba player to another, can anyone explain what those 5th and 6th valves do?
The 5th lowers by a whole step and the 6th by a half step
In other words LOW AS HECK
It’s a Bass Tuba in F, the standard in Europe. You and I might be more familiar with the Contrabass Tuba in BBb or CC common in American school bands and orchestras. Or the Eb bass tuba common in the UK
It has those extra valves so it can extend the low range much like a 4th valve on an American BBb Tuba
This is really terrific!

Great Heidi intro xD

Sheet music 😂? So amazing...
they're really tallented they rarely use sheet music.
@@robert_trumpeteer of course they do... when learning a new piece or on rehearsels before a premiere
Oh sheet music!
Does anyone know the name of the first song and the song in the middle of this?
淡水魚 u mean the "Heidi" tune?
In case you're wondering, that little twist they slip in between is an Austrian march called "Wien Bliebt Wien" (When in Vienna)
Someone please tell me the song what they are singing 2:25
