Even more amazing than their musicianship, is their ability to play everything by ear or memory. I have heard them perform for 2 hour live concerts without ever having music or a music stand in front of them.
Indeed not easy but IMHO many rehearsals and the fact that almost all the pieces are written in obvious keys for mostly familiar melodies, I think it is not as difficult as it looks, nonetheless and despite the fact that I am convinced that this is super fun to do for them, this is absolutely top sport and enforces respect.
As a non musician, I never understood this. Why do most classical orchestras or performers still need sheet music onstage? They must know the pieces they play by heart, right? Modern musicians don't use sheet music, actors or comedians don't need a script.
@@BartvanHam90 There are many reasons for this. I think this more or less comes down to rehearsal as well as different jobs. By this I mean musicians playing in bands especially professionals who play with whoever hires them that week. These are professionals who read sheet music like you read letters. Little to no rehearsal just play your gig and your good. Saying modern musicians don't use sheet music is as far as I am aware just not true. They may not need them that 1 take they are recording or if they are doing 1 solo. I don't think you will see any "modern musician" just sit down in an orchestra and wing it. It all comes down to different jobs, different methods. And just to add on to the last part about comedians; They do have scripts but by the time they are performing their set they know it of by heart, and they can ad lib as they please around that.
Als ehemaliger klassischer Berufsmusiker muss ich sagen, dass dies hier wirklich als grandioses, musikalisches Musik-Kabarett auf aller höchstem Niveau zu bezeichnen ist!!! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!!!!

watched this as a kid but didnt recognize the song they start singing in the middle. 10 years later i've become an anime fan and i am brought full circle.......
Been search for this song for years, can someone pls tell me the song name at 1:44? I last heard it 15 years ago played by a band in the movie, believe it’s a UK band.
The tune had changed to Wien bleibt Wien and then at 1:44 it returns to the William Tell Overture. Regarding the movie I’m pretty sure it’s played at the end of the film Brassed Off?
it's called "wien bleibt wien" and it is an old march from the k.u.k. monarchy of austria. here you can look it up: ruclips.net/video/uGSym7oeSbo/видео.html
It’s a Bass Tuba in F, the standard in Europe. You and I might be more familiar with the Contrabass Tuba in BBb or CC common in American school bands and orchestras. Or the Eb bass tuba common in the UK

You're right, it seems as though it is super fun for them to do. They obviously love to rehearse and perform.
Not just the music, the memory and creativity for all their choreography is just as noteworthy in my opinion

I had the pleasure to watch them live once. Unfortunately i was very young back then and I don‘t remember much, still love them!
These guys are hilarious and superb musicians. Two thumbs up!
The insanity at the end can be summed up in one word:
Trombone
Wittily taking their musicianship lightly, they don't betray their art. Thank you , Gentlemen.
Lovely comment, spot on. Thank you, Sir!
Diese Jungs sind unvergleichlich...
This just gets better every time I listen to it.

To be so talented and crazy at the same time is very rare and very special. They are wonderful in their own unique way.
That yodeling was heavenly
That ending is glorious!
In case you're wondering, that little twist they slip in between is an Austrian march called "Wien Bliebt Wien" (When in Vienna)

Wow! And I thought the 4 horns in Bill Chase’s band was special! Just kidding, these kids are remarkable.
Thank you for sharing. :)
Amazing!!!
Their combination of music with comedy is astounding. If I were to do exactly the same, it may not be very funny.
Someone please tell me the song what they are singing 2:25
And, if you know lyrics of the song, tell me please 😔

Thx a lot :-))
I enjoyed this several years back but didn't give it a thumbs up. I don't know why.
This is a certified Me and The Boys moment
Oh my goodness they are terrific
Magnífico!
Performers randomly start making farm animal noises in America; people get weirded out and leave. In Europe, they start to laugh.
I don’t understand
Maybe the Americans haven't the right sense of humor...
@@uschilenk6684 youre right, most of us Americns are boring business men/women
@@DantheToonMan that's a pity!
Can't even spell right Americans HERB NOT ERB
I'm American and I found it funny.
Fantastisch!! Alles Gute weiterhin!! Josefine
They are amazing.
How on earth does Wilfried keep playing without breathing????
Circular breathing maybe?

Fantastic !!!!!!!
This is really terrific!
Extraordinaire ! 👏👏👏👏
Does anyone know the piece they are playing at 1:32? It's bothering me for quite a while :D
it's called "wien bleibt wien" and it is an old march from the k.u.k. monarchy of austria. here you can look it up: ruclips.net/video/uGSym7oeSbo/видео.html
So from one tuba player to another, can anyone explain what those 5th and 6th valves do?
The 5th lowers by a whole step and the 6th by a half step
In other words LOW AS HECK
It’s a Bass Tuba in F, the standard in Europe. You and I might be more familiar with the Contrabass Tuba in BBb or CC common in American school bands and orchestras. Or the Eb bass tuba common in the UK
It has those extra valves so it can extend the low range much like a 4th valve on an American BBb Tuba
Ils sont si géniaux :D
👏👏👏👏👏👏Genial
They are so good
Fantastici...arrangiamento geniale!
I'd love to hear more melodic yodeling like at the start, any recommendations?
I'm the first one to like this comment
listen to barbershop quartets. usually not as high of a tessitura but the harmony with overtones is still there.
@@michaelmcdermott6340 That's the first time I've seen someone refer to Barbershop as melodic yodeling and might be my go to from now on.

What was the name of music played at 03:30?
Saw them at the 2008 ITG Conference in Banff, Canada (remember when Americans could go there without getting arrested ;) )
What's the tune at 1:32? Sounds familiar but I can't place it...
