Well, acknowledgement is better than nothing, I suppose. It means the game is still being developed. Would have liked more, but at least we know it isn't dead. I wonder what the odds are of a release this year, or if 2025 really is more likely. I'm just hoping that they are keeping quiet cuz they don't want to get our hopes up until they are completely confident in the quality of the product.

Slightly off topic but I’m surprised Digimon doesn’t do more games that are anime/manga tie ins. I feel like a ghost game based game was a missed opportunity and would have give them a chance to do something more plot based or feature the cut forms of Gammamon. Just seems like there was a lot of potential there that they didn’t capitalize on. Same with adventure 2020 since they had the old adventure PSP game it could have been pitched like a remake/reboot of that game.
If we've learned anything about game companies that have been around for more than 15 years, it is the routine of when to announce and when to realse their games its like clock work

We need a Digimon game that can be made in between the big games that we know will take 3+ years. We need a digimon world 3 style game, but it’s completely 2D or 2.5D. Digimon survive was suppose to be that holdover game, but it took to long to make, and they didn’t dub it in other languages. I can’t say they did everything they could to make that game a success.

My only hope for this game is they make it just a little less story grinding and harder boss fights. Just felt like with a little bit of grinding you could steam roll right through the game less than halfway through it.

the next Digimon Story game has been in development for, at maximum, a little over 6 years (it was originally announced in 2017). now granted, digimon devs have been struggling the past few years plus there have been other projects theyve been working on, most notably Survive and the Next Order port, so if we take out 2020 from that and account for the other projects, lets say its been in full development for around 2-4 years. if we check when Cyber Sleuth was announced to when it was released it took a little under 2 years from it's initial announcement in V-Jump in december of 2013 to its first release on the Vita in march of 2015, we can assume (although we dont really know the development time for the other Story games) that the average time it takes to make a Story game is around 2-3 years. so realistically the next Digimon Story game should be at least close to playable, be it in a beta form or whatever. most likely the release date will be somewhere around late 2024 to mid 2025.
There's no reason other projects would've delayed the story games development because every project you labeled (Survive, Port) was handled by different studios. The only thing stopping them would be a release cadence, so they don't announce multiple things at once
I think if they did remakes for switch of dusk dawn world they would sell extremely well
tl;dr: Based on past precedence, there's a good chance we'll see a release date for the next Digimon game this year and potentially the release is in 2025 or earlier.
I'm excited for it, whenever it arrives. 8 years though gotta be on some Unreal Engine type beat 😭😭

Honestly, if they could pull off a fall 2024 release, that would be insane with no pokemon until probably next fall it could be huge for bandai to drop a game around Christmas. However next year sounds right.
As a Digimon fan, I was extremely excited with the vpets and internally screaming when we got a whole lotta nothing for video games.

Digimoncon 2024 was like a school pep rally: It was there to help build excitement for a season that we have nothing major going on. Maybe they'll have more solid news as the year goes on, but for now, they're just trying to keep people interested. And that's... disappointing for many, clearly, but not inherently BAD for a yearly event. I'd rather they try to keep us excited and work on things til they're done than rush out a forced announcement they'll never live up to.
Each time these happen and we go in w/o expectations and somehow still feel defeated, I quickly snap back to "But you know the fact they even held that shit is crazy, right?"

After getting the same Con 3 times in a row, I've come to realize this is just what the event is.
We might want it to be something else, but DigimonCon is basically just a cute little (4 hour 🥴) vibe check and not really ABOUT new products or big announcements.
They've never advertised it as anything different. I've just ignored that and let my expectations run away with me.

i just wish they make another game that is similar in gameplay to cybersleuth, but without the shitty nonsensical story. hell, they could probably pull off a monster rancher style game but with digimon instead. that works kinda like a mix of MR and digimon world 1/redigitize.

Pokemon is in the same boat. Since the dawn of pokemon Red and Blue in the 90s, people have wanted a pokemon mmo. Here we are in 2024 still waiting.... They dont want to invest in huge projects, they just want to drip feed us low cost garbage and milk everyone for their money with minimal effort on their part.

The digimon franchise is in life sport right. now the last game was survive a game that announced in 2018 got delayed and released in 2022 that's 4 years and got mixed reviews because bandai doesn't know how to-do advertising 😑
The story game digimon story cyber sleuth released in 2015 for the ps vita the sequel Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker's Memory released in 2017 for the ps4 and we got the complete collection for switch and windows in 2019 that's five years of cyber sleuth and they announced that they are working on a new story game in 2017 but now we are in 2024 that 7 years of waiting for something may end up being mid at bast

I do think you’re right but I do not call that pattern organized. I call it stupid. To this day I don’t understand how they didn’t have a July release date for survive in February but magically have it solidified two months later. The hell kinds difference could that have made. After the first digimon con I was done with it. I will give credit where credit is due thought that 25th adventure device is top tier stuff I want it. But that’s not a justifiable reason to have a 3 hour event every year to tell us you’re not doing anything. I’ll never forget the 40 minutes game segment in 2022 of them telling us they’re not doing anything. They can’t decide to port or remake digimon world 1. How about port it then remake it. Don’t know how to port digitize cause it was two screens on 3DS. Damn that sucks if only it had another version on a one screen handheld. If your not going to do anything we ask for don’t tell us that just keep your mouth shut until you do something we give a rats ass about then talk. This game is really the only thing of the franchise I can realistically look forward to and if that isn’t going to be at these events proper why should I watch them why should any of us. Love your videos though dude don’t let my negativity stop you it gets me through the long grueling waits for the games.

I don't really want another digimon survive game. I want the graphics but I want either another digimon ps1 game or a digimon world 3. A flat out rpg like pokemon but with thousands of digimon & evolution & skills/moves & not half arsed but art style of digimon survive. Just make a big budget digimon rpg game with story & well balanced gameplay.
Well, this new story game is exactly what you're talking about. It will be the first big budget, console quality game they put out in like a decade.
Minus the pokemon part. CS felt a little like Persona. But this one is drastically different being in the Digital World...anything is possible tbh

Problem with digimon games I find is they change so much from title to title. Its like they never know what sort of genre they want to be.
I mentioned pokemon because it's always a fun adventure rpg game no matter what new title comes out.
