TWO INCREDIBLE INDONESIAN MUST TRY FOODS IN SYDNEY with GENIUSEATSS | Pondok Buyung & Ayam Goreng 99

  • Опубликовано: 14 авг 2022
  • HI GUYS! HUGE EPISODE THIS WEEK!
We try two absolutely incredible Indonesian restaurants in Sydney's suburb of Kingsford. These two restaurants are two of the oldest Indonesian restaurants in Sydney. Pondok Buyung, a restaurant selling a rice dish called Nasi Padang, and Ayam Goreng 99, which serves incredible grilled chicken (ayam bakar) and fried chicken (ayam goreng). These two restaurants are beloved by locals and Indonesians across Sydney, so much so, they would travel all the way here to get their fix!
And we have a SPECIAL GUEST! Genio, a.k.a. Geniuseatss, is a great friend of mine and he grew up in Indonesia before relocating to Sydney Australia only a few years ago for study. This food means a lot to him so I had a great time learning about Indonesian cuisine and culture through his eyes!
Both restaurants are actually very close to the University of New South Wales (UNSW), which was where I studied! I regret being too stingy back then to explore different foods in the area. Don't be like me! Imagine all of the amazing lunches I could've had haha!
I HOPE YOU ENJOY TODAY'S VIDEO! If you haven't already, I'd love if I could get your support by SUBSCRIBING to the channel and hitting the NOTIFICATION BELL ! Also give the video a BIG THUMBS UP so I can keep the videos coming!

@@SydneyFoodBoy that was not Spinach, you got either Cassava leaves or an Asian type of Watercress, I forget the name.
I live in Kingsford, and I go to Pondok Buyong regularly, I like the Goat curry, Eggplant and the little fried fish.
You may have seen them? Whole fish, with or without chilli about 10 - 20cm long.
Glad you enjoyed the two restaurants. As you correctly said, the restaurant is always busy!

I’m VIETNAMESE, never try Indonesian foods.
      But INDONESIA IS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY.
As Asian, SOUTHEAST ASIAN IS BEAUTIFUL BLESS BY EARTH, LANDSOILS, TROPICAL SUNNY ALL YEAR LONG, BEAUTIFUL ISLAND & BEACH, JUNGLE & VARIETY TYPES OF TROPICAL FRUITS & VEGGIES.
Asian ppl have 1 things similar no matter what part Asia is we have families values & hardworking people!!
Vietnam foods is different, mostly cause we just cooked each foods separately alone. Like a bowl of green veggies soup, veggies stir fries, meat dish,etc.. something like that.
The first dish they show is not my type.
But 10.18 the dish somehow similar to what I mention, each dish is cooked separate. Lookung good & yummy 😊

Im a Singaporean and i studied at unsw in 2011-14. This vid brought back great memories at Kingsford. There used to be an extremely popular Indo restaurant called Fajar (I heard its not there anymore) with super sick nasi goreng! Certainly the best time of my life was spent in Sydney! Subscribed for more food ideas as I might be heading to Syd later this year! 🙌🙌👌😊😊

Thank you so much for subscribing mate! My relatives live in Singapore so I visit quite often 😁 I also studied at UNSW and I really wish at the time I had been more open to trying the food in the local area. I missed out on so much Indonesian food and spent all my time eating fast food!!!

@@SydneyFoodBoy That's awesome. U should do a Singapore food series when you're here! I bet you're a commerce student (me as well) as you're Asian like me LOL. Just kidding 🤣 You should do a hotpot series in Sydney cos the hotpot culture is pretty big as there're many Asians! 🙌👌

    1. Try Bakso Mercon from The Growers at Top Ryde in the cafe side (it’s a flavourful noodle soup with handmade beef balls) (they also sell a huge selection of Indonesian desserts on Saturday and Sundays!)
    2. Martabak Manis w/ peanut, chocolate and cheese (the OG) from Rosebery Martabak (back in Kingsford, it’s a super decadent Indo style pancake but with a texture of crumpet made with lots of butter and condensed milk and your choice of toppings but the trio I suggested is the original which is the best)
All these are approved by my Indo partner and myself (non-Indo) more like an ABC hehe!

While on the way to Cabramatta we chance upon a Malaysian food "fair" in Guildford. Mamu Penang Coffee Stall. 312 Railway Terrace, Guildford. Open hours are Thursday to Sundays 4pm to 11pm. Plus Saturday and Sundays 8.30am to 12.30pm. There are a number of stalls there. The owner said the best time is Saturday 7.30pm when most will be opened. We went there Saturday at 12pm so we were quite late. They only had Nasi kandar left. You might want to check it out.
