- Wiesbaden is a city in southwest Germany and the capital of the federal state of Hesse. Wiesbaden, together with the cities of Frankfurt am Main, Darmstadt and Mainz, is part of the Frankfurt Rhine Main Region, a metropolitan area with a combined population of about 5.8 million people. Wiesbaden has about 273,000 inhabitants, plus approximately 19,000 United States citizens (mostly associated with the United States Army).
Wiesbaden is one of the oldest spa towns in Europe. Its name translates to "meadow baths," making reference to thermal springs.
This film was mostly taken around Wiesbaden town centre and on the Neroberg - a mountain in the city named after Roman Emperor Nero.

This video brings back a lot of memories! I lived in Wiesbaden from 1960 to 1963 when I was between 8 to 11 years old. I see many new buildings there in the video. Thanks for posting the video!

Nice camera shots--thanks for bringing back many happy memories of living in Wiesbaden.
You are very welcome, thanks for the kind comment.
I love this! Wiesbaden is where I was born. But I only lived there until I was 18 months old. Hope to go back someday. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Katrina Hawkins Hello Katrina, I'm glad that you liked the film. Wiesbaden is a lovely place. Regards.
Katrina Hawkins go back. You will love it
My home town. So elegant and beautiful.
Thanks for the view. One of my ancestors is from Hesse and I hope to visit some day.
My hometown. Thanks for posting this video. Nice memories. Too bad the air quality is so poor. Wow, can't get a good view of the Taunus.
Glad you enjoyed the film, I don't recall the air quality to be honest, just that it was mostly quite hot while I was there.
2:59 - The translation of "Landesbibliothek" is badly. The meaning is not national library. In this context "Land" is refered to "Bundesland" which literaly mean "state". So the more correct tranlation will be "state library".
Wiesbaden was/is the very top of military assignments. Some of you might still remember
APO 332. I was in European GEEIA.

SPENT 5 YEARS IN THAT BEAUTIFUL CITY WIFE IS FROM WIESBADEN GREAT VIDEO
Was there fm late 1960 to Oct 1962. Good place
it's well worth the trip - build by the Romans and has a lot of healing springs and baths, surrounded by the Taunus mountains and the suburbs such as Schierstein and Biebrich are directly on the Rhine river, from where you can take cruises down or up the Rhine and see all the beautiful landmarks and castles.
@@ruthpfeiffer2076 yep done all those things was within walking distance to the Rhine if you remember camp Pieri. Best time of my Young life for sure. Past those hot springs many nights drunk or stoned or both. What great memories ❤️❤️

Wiesbaden was only a secondary bombing target and took only one hit
from a squadron of British Mosquito bombers heading back to base.
Why is that most Americans who have been out of American were in the military...
Jentul Jay . To kill nazis
Wiesbaden was and still has American Military bases, such as the Army and the Airforce, they also used to the 101st based there and when I was young even had a River-patrol in the harbor of Schierstein, but that goes way back to the 1950's.
