That ballast came out pretty well. More water would have made concrete smoother on exterior sides and easier to settle in box with a few taps with rubber mallet. Adding too much water does reduce the strength of concrete, but that is no problem for ballast. Nothing is compressing that concrete. So reducing strength from 4000 psi to 3500 psi is insignificant. Thanks for the video.
Made one based on your video. Works great. I used a draw bar for the lift.
This thought popped in my head and a search later, your video! That's the weight I'm looking for, around 750#, but I'm going to use a 2 inch hitch attachment, it rig up a quick hitch attachment. Kudos!
Hell yeah from Michigan!
Thanks Toolcat. Ha, I must have watched this video at least 12 times 😊. The measurements helped me determine where I should place the bars and top bracket in my boxed-form. Have a fine day and thanks again. I will post a video once I get my Concrete Ballast made. Wish me luck b/c I only get one try..........New Subscriber!
I need to make one. Tnx for sharing
Next time line the box with six mil plastic add more water and a squirt of dish washing liquid to each two or three bags of mix. Also use a heavy hammer drill to vibrate. Cheers.
spray oil on the inside of you form also
This could be a much better video with out the dreadfully music
Well done. Could you make a prototype of wood filled with sand, to get the placement of the things you were fretting over right?
What did you use for the side connectors and top?
Hi, great job. I would like to know the weight of the ballast?
Approximately 720 lbs.
Sorry can't looking more, that music noise 🤑 bye
Too late for you but the concrete dust you are breathing is highly carcinogenic!
Yup, a whopping 230 people per year developed cancer due to inhaling silica dust.
Most commonly as part of their job--which generally means repeated and prolonged exposure. So on his case, I'd wager he will be just fine 🙄
