Next stop in the Fate Series should be Fate Zero which is a direct prequel to Fate Stay Night. It is also animated by UFOtable. Also I think it will resolve some of your issues with Kirei’s character as you get to see a breakdown of his character until he becomes the villain you know him to be in Fate Stay Night. Gilgamesh gets a more in depth look at his character in this series as well.
The main problem with the Fate series is probably the fact that the animes are pretty poor adaptations the majority of problems you present here are properly expanded upon and fleshed out in the visual novel

Well, Fate as a battle royale of legendary heroes for the Holy Grail including King Arthur was basically Nasu's story idea since at least highschool. When it came to making it a VN a lot of things had to be changed. FSN went through so many versions of the story it isn't even funny. For starters since they were expected to include porn the main protagonist became male. Somewhere midway Takeuchi indeed suggested genderbending Arthur. But the story also evolved considerably. The first plans for the VN involved a pretty overt harem including an entire gallery of female Servants along with other characters. Then it solidified further. Sakura's story probably changed the most, especially after they merged her route with Illya's. Originally her route was more of a classic story branch but detailing a different magus family and Shinji becoming bros with Shirou once more. You can... obviously see how many aspects of that changed. The whole mystery of the Greater Grail and such was meant for Illya's route.
The genderswap being done to avoid confusion to buyers of the VN as female protagonist with male lead on the box cover will give the impression that the VN is for female audiences, when they are targetting male audiences.

Pretty much all your critisism is due to not reading the visual novel and thats not an exaggeration. Literally none of the FSN routes in anime form are a valid substitute even ufotables. And it's fair to not be into visual novels or books not holding your attention, that's why alternative media is so important. But that's also why it's frustrating because in this way most people will never know what fate itself is so good, because they are locked out of it and the adaptions do not get across a lot of what the novels do

At first I honestly didn't see where a lot of the difficulty with getting into the series comes from. Then I figured out it's from the friggin fan base. Way I see it, you watch things in the order they came out. The original Fate Stay/Night had 3 routes, so you go through and watch those 3 routes and move on from there. If your just watching the anime series and decide to skip the first animated series of Fate (Saber route) and start with Unlimited Blade Works, it doesn't really change anything. Whilst the anime doesn't go anywhere near as in depth as the original visual novel it doesn't do anything to spoil anything else, because there was nothing else to spoil at the time, and whilst Fate Zero did get released prior to the Heavens Feel trilogy. It doesn't really change anything. It's like a movie series. First Movie comes out and then a prequel movie comes out. Which do ye watch first? The original movie of course, you don't start with the prequel just because its earlier on the timeline, you start with the first movie because that's what the prequel is based off of and BUILDS off of. The second movie is made with the assumption that you have watched the first movie, and it will likely make references to things that either happened or where explained in the first movie. This also applies to Fate, whilst Fate Zero does a good job of explaining what the hell is happening, the original routes all explain it better. This same logic should have been applied to fate, but the fanbase is dedicated to trying to start things at either the earliest point on the timeline or the latest point in the time, or in same cases the middle point of the timeline
It is false to claim that Fate 06 failure cancelled the other routes . Fate 06 was A SUCESSFUL anime. It never planned to addapt more than one route, but It was well received and they even animated UBW as a movie. All the great voice actors started with the anime (the VN was voiceless) Yes some hardcore fans noticed that the adaptation was lacking, but there was no generalized hate before UFOtable entered the picture.

Like in UBW, in the part in that Rin was kidnapped and Shinji was showing his clear lecherous intentions toward her. Yet, Rin was simply considering Shinji like a "harmless person", despite to that he planned to assault her sexually. Adding in Heaven's Feels, in that Shinji was abusing sexually from Sakura, constantly, yet, when the protagonists learn about it, they only treated Shinji like a bully, than a monster, like if his actions weren't a big deal. 18:48 Adding that in UBW, when Saber was enslaved and kidnapped by Caster, the witch was showing pervert intentions toward Saber, to the point of forced her to wear a wedding dress. But when Shirou saw the situation of Saber, he didn't show a notable concern, as if the predicament of Saber wasn't a big deal, while he was more concerned only in his revenge in Archer. Being honest, the fact that the plot treats the sexual assault like if this wasn't a big deal, is one of the most notable flaws in the general plot of Fate/Stay Night.

Great video! I guess I am a Fate fan (have read the Visual Novel, watched a lot of the anime), and the obvious next thing to watch would be Fate/Zero. It's also by ufotable (2011 I believe, ~25 episodes), and tells the story of the Fourth Holy Grail War (the one 10 years ago). There is a lot of Kiritsugu, Kirei and Gilgamesh in here (and of course all the other characters). Though keep in mind that there are some small inconsistencies between the two works (Fate/Zero vs Fate/stay night) probably due to the different author (Fate/Zero was written by Gen Urobuchi).

The earth wanted camalot gone Saber did her best to not save it but to soften the crash. not burn down so camalof was not sabers fault nor does she aceept she was at fault. She acepts she did the best she could in the sitation she was in and that it was not her mistake. Saber and shirou as best to describe 2 broken coins fhat fit perfectly when togethor rather they help each other grow as individuls. 35:04 you should probably know that the results were not good yes the animation is great but there are several faults in making it a movie 1 of the main parts of this route was sidetracked and almost completly removed that is shirou and kirei dynamic it is the final battle in the VN and the most epic and important one its THE climax of the whole VN yet due to being movie trilogy it was sidetracked in favor of shirou and sakura relationship and while it was great all the build up across the entire VN for shirou and kirei final is thrown out the window its 1 of the main focuses and it was sidelined into a brief scene with kirei in a car and a short fight(the fight that the entire fandom was hyped about since it was 1 of the best one's in the VN) also the heracles vs saber alter fight that shit was EXTREMELY stupid the animation was great but there is no explanation as to how saber alter is suddenly more powerful than heracles(which she is not in the novel) nor why is his adaptation ability completly ignored as well as his own divine magical energy not being used to counter her mana bursts
I keep seeing this pop up every time I look at the Heaven's Feel movies, and while I myself believe so too, I would not go as far as to say that it's unreasonable. The thing people always, and I mean ALWAYS, forget is that Nasu helped direct these movies. So if there are any changes, subtle or not, you best believe Nasu approved that and as much true to concept.

that and the fact the movies added new scenes for the shadow and saber alter to make them look stronger than they actually are

yes the animation is great but there are several faults in making it a movie
1 of the main parts of this route was sidetracked and almost completly removed
that is shirou and kirei dynamic
it is the final battle in the VN and the most epic and important one its THE climax of the whole VN
yet due to being movie trilogy it was sidetracked in favor of shirou and sakura relationship
and while it was great all the build up across the entire VN for shirou and kirei final is thrown out the window
its 1 of the main focuses and it was sidelined into a brief scene with kirei in a car and a short fight(the fight that the entire fandom was hyped about since it was 1 of the best one's in the VN)
also the heracles vs saber alter fight
that shit was EXTREMELY stupid
the animation was great
but there is no explanation as to how saber alter is suddenly more powerful than heracles(which she is not in the novel) nor why is his adaptation ability completly ignored as well as his own divine magical energy not being used to counter her mana bursts
I keep seeing this pop up every time I look at the Heaven's Feel movies, and while I myself believe so too, I would not go as far as to say that it's unreasonable.
The thing people always, and I mean ALWAYS, forget is that Nasu helped direct these movies. So if there are any changes, subtle or not, you best believe Nasu approved that and as much true to concept.
