I was just thinking to myself, yesterday and today, I wish somebody like Jay would explain how LIEs work, because I'm really not sure I understand at all. So, thanks, Psychic Jay! 🙂
Does Daz delete the files inside the temp folder again? Otherwise this sound like it will fill up my memory real fast. If not, what happens if I delete the temp folder myself? Will it break my object surface? Or will it recreate the combined image on scene load as long as I have all the layer images?
TL;DR : Edit Preferences Interface : Miscelleaneous, Layered Textures: slide all over to speed/size instead of compressing everything now that everyone has Terabyte SSDs
Thanks for the explanation of the new option, didn't know about the compression either.
Thanks Jay, I'm clueless about LIE so this is really helpful. Great video.

Telepathy!!
Nice tip Jay! Thank you, very useful!
I love this a lot! You explained it very nice and clearly to understand. A very important information shared!
Awww thanks Horizon!
So that's why LIE presets have been so slow up till now, even after some major upgrades to my PC. It's the on-the-fly compression.
Nice video Jay on LIEs this might be handy.👍
L.I.E. has always been on the slow side. Makes sense considering what it is. But with G9, it really slowed down.
thanks for sharing jay..

Indeed, the temporary files are deleted when you exit Daz Studio. It does tidy up after itself.
I do wonder, is there any advantage to doing L.I.E.s this way, vs just doing it in Photoshop and loading the maps in the surfaces?
Photoshop is powerful, but not everyone has it. LIEs are an easy way to distribute/apply additional surface detail without the need to external tools.
