    Thank you for this! I'm just starting of in Daz3D in the hope to implement the program in the future in my workflow. You had me the moment you said: "there are a lot of people out there who spend 20 minutes on videos that don't teach you anything." Informative. As it stands I've been primarily using DAZ as a character creator then exporting those assets to either Maya or Blender for posing an animation. Mainly blender because I prefer real-time rendering and that's basically what blender's eevee does. Interestingly nearly all my characters are originally models from other sources that I used a 3DScanning/retopology software to convert into morphs for the DAZ figures. I saw this is a quick and shortcut alternative to trying to rig the models from scratch myself, that or the original model's rig was absolutely broken. Ultimately my use of DAZ was to bypass weight-painting.

    Very well said :)
    I would probably add that when it comes to Daz...
    11. Limit yourself to a budget of no more than a hundred bucks to pick up an environment, a good model (the ones released by Daz themselves), and a few prop collections, then just focus on learning how to light scenes. I spent way too much money in the early days accumulating all of these assets, focusing on composition, posing, buying premade scenes etc. But all my renders were utter trash until I figured out how to light.

    • @VIKDR1
      @VIKDR1 4 года назад +2

      I also spent a little too much, but most of that was during a big sale. I was surprised that I was getting bundles for the price of the basic asset, and I grabbed a gift card at 25% off, saving even more.
      One thing I have learned to do is to put the assets I want into a wishlist, then I put a note as to what the price is, and when. I would update it often and get to know what a good price on the assets are.
      A lot of those assets are for a project that I doubt I would get to until next year, so I am using the wishlist as a holding place for the items and slowly adding the assets if they seem to be at a good price.
      I also joined their platinum club that keeps the prices lower on items, and give out 2 monthly coupons. But I don't jump onto those coupons at the beginning of the month when the coupons come out, waiting for something in my wishlist to go on sale that fits the coupons. I am convinced they drop sales at the beginning of the month hoping people use up the coupons on higher prices.

    • @JMF611
      @JMF611 4 года назад

      @@VIKDR1 great strategy! I tend to use the wishlist quite a bit. Anything I'm not desperately needing goes on there and Daz generally have sales after sales so you can usually pick up what you need for cheap if you have a little patience :-)

    I stopped buying any pose packs after spending virtually the same amount of time adjusting them to fit the body type I was using as creating the pose from scratch. You have to be using the exact model they used without clothing and not using any morphs otherwise you need to adjust a lot to prevent clothing overlapping, body parts sticking into each other, etc.

    Adding to some of this I would also say if you want renders to come out looking good, a photography tutorial will be more helpful then anything else. Learn how they light their subjects and what they do in the post process. Daz's official tutorials are less than useless, especially the ones you buy, they are really just infomercials on other products.
    I would also say for the store never ever buy full price for anything, get what you can in the free department and find trust worthy third parties you can trust. Don't just look at the picture really look at what comes with the product and what the product can do.

    For a minute I thought the lack of a decent manual on how to actually use Daz was just my imagination, because every time I brought it up in forums and the like, people acted like I was asking for the impossible, however you can find good instruction as well as well outlined courses on practically any major software out there. Although it should be noted that there are several software packages out there seemingly aimed at hobbyists and independents like DAZ ( vocaloid I'm looking at you ) that are so slight in instructions on their use and that have such a steep learning curve you have to wonder who their target market actually was to begin with.
    Number two is also a really major point. Even the best computers today quickly become dated, and Daz is a really resource hungry program unless you are doing the simplest of renders, and assets and with higher polygon counts and 4K Hd are only making it moreso. Unless you a tech chaser always staying up to date with the latest graphics cards and the like you can quickly find out that a new update of Daz has taken you out of the game.

    The point about pose sets is sadly true. It's rather ironic considering how absurdly conservative they are about nudity on the site. LOL The range of clothing sets have improved quite a bit, especially with Genesis 8. Sure, there's still no shortage of short skimpwear, but they do have a decent selection of other styles too. It's still heavily slated toward womenswear though. Genesis 9 is pushing towards a unisex figure, not that helps much...

    as you said the animation potential of daz is not good, so is it possible to use the assets from daz to make animation with another program? I hope i have explained my question correctly. If i have to say it otherwise, i have invested 3-4 months and not small amount of money into daz and i plan to use it for the renders at least (visual novel/sex games), so if the animations are shit i either have to try to do the best i could using daz for them (toster porn) or find a way to connect the assets to another program or something cause i dont wanna learn a new program from the beginning (if i have to switch completely and do the renders and the animation on new program with new/different assets). @@GameDeveloperTraininghello, I know this is a 2y old video but I was wondering something similar. I have no prior experience and only just downloaded Daz Studio and have been binging your videos. Thanks for this extremely useful content btw!
      So my question is what is the best way to create a game (vn) if you do want to include *those* animations? Is it best to use mostly Daz for the normal renders and then export into a different software like blender to create animations? How would that work if they are in a scene, do you export the whole environment? Or if you start out would it be better to just do the whole process in blender from start to finish? Hopefully you got a moment to give me some advice, I really don't want to spend a lot of money on assets only to find out later I'm gonna have to switch to a different sofware entirely.

      @@daanw6270 I recommend deciding what you want to do before you choose the software. If you plan to have animations in your game, just don't use Daz for anything. Daz productions deliberately make it difficult to use their assets in other more versatile apps such as iClone. Also it's far easier animating a character that is native to the software that you're doing the animations in. Blender, Maya, iClone all have their own custom character creation, and although they take a bit more time and effort to learn, the results will be far better.

    Hello mate I’m not sure if you answer tech support questions here. I recently got Daz Studio because I want to get into 3D art. Immediately I learned how much the tech support and instructions Daz provides are little to no help at all for a beginner. The website says due to the pandemic it could take up to 4 to 6 weeks for a response to a submitted help ticket. The problem I’m having is I can’t get a preset morph I purchased to show up on the figure it is supposed to be compatible with. I select fe figure then go to shaping and double click the preset. Nothing happens. The figure does not display the morph. I’m trying to figure out a solution to this problem on my own but if you or someone in the comments section can help I would appreciate it. I find the UI is a cluttered mess. You need to be a Boyscout with GPS to find your way around. Content is not easy to install and to actually find what you need can be nerv wrecking, time consuming and plain frustrating. The Content management is unnecessarily compartmentalized in dozens of similar confusing Interface components which do not always do the things you are expecting them to do. I consider Poser to be easier to use than Daz Studio. But I don't use either or the other. I use something else. Good Video about DS. It may put off some creative Artists but geeks do love a challenge. Aren't they. Thanks for the honest vid.

      @Yash Saindane Well.. what you make character creator is more akin to making something in Photoshop or with pencils and pens it is yours your creation. Anything you make with Daz unless it is completely custom you're going to have to pay for in the future or have licensed each thing you used and if you haven't licensed it cam be a big problem. I'm heavy in on Daz and it's really unfortunate that that's true. I'll probably have to scratch remake a lot of the characters in my game but at least Daz has gottn me to a point where I know what I want and perhaps I can get there on my own with variations obvious enough that it isn't from Dad. I don't know actually... Once you make enough changes. I actually honestly don't know how they can always say this this is from that and that's from this as there is so much possibility for variation...

      Daz is just easier to use for rendering still images. It's interface is tuned specifically to make it easier to use because it only does one thing. It's not designed for creating assets, which Blender is.

    This doesn’t seem to be helping daz, should I just use blender or maya instead just making them sound like a much better choice over daz.

      Depends on your ability level. Daz Studio is an entry level 3D program but ultimately limited. If you can grasp Blender or Maya they are far superior

    I wish I knew that Iray render costs lots of time and I had to pay for new GPU.
