I go to a culinary school up in New York that has its roots in French cuisine. Halfway through my first semester I was a little worn out from eating campus food, didn’t have a car, and didn’t know the area that well. After bringing it up with my friends multiple times that week, a mutual friend of ours that had already heard this multiple times said “Well my favorite deli is 5-10 minutes away, you wanna go get something after class?” I couldn’t help it, the first thing that came to my mind was this John Pinette quote and I screamed it at him. Our whole group died laughing.

Growing up, I watched a ton of stand-up comedy after school, on the weekends, during the summer, etc. By day or early evening, I'd be watching Comedy Central Presents, and by night, I'd be watching HBO's One Night Stand, or an old Young Comedians special, or various hour-longs by all the greats, you name it. The clip comes from one of these. For me, John Pinette was, truthfully, just one of countless extremely talented comics I enjoyed, but this bit right here was absolutely one of the funniest goddamn things I've ever heard. Both the jokes themselves and Pinette's flawless delivery had me in stiches, I thought I was gonna die from how hard I was laughing. I saw his episode a couple times, I believe, but even then it's been between fifteen and twenty years since then, but this bit stuck with me the whole time. Pure gold.

I am grateful I have never seen any clips of John Pinette in which he used bad language. When I started watching him I was amazed at how funny he was & noticed he did not need to use profanity to make people laugh.... that is why I loved him so much. He reminded me of the earlier comedians who I grew up with. I miss the guy! He was the best! Gone too soon!

Yeah. Why does all those "comedians" have to use bad language! John Pinette was always funny without all F words.

I agree. I will say, though, when I watched one of his "Get out of the line" skits where he dropped the B bomb, I could not help but laugh. "Oh Good! She has coupons! You B!tch." lol

John RIP but I bet you are enjoying more Italian food in Heaven than you ever had on earth.
Can you just picture all of the lil old Italian women cooking for John and friends.
OK now picture HIM listening to JOhn comic routine and then breaking bread and sopping up the gravy *pasta sauce
One of the cleanest and funniest comic ever given to us for such a short while.
Thanks to all on RUclips who keep John and so many great comics alive for the next generation.

Actually, in the latter years of his life, he lost a lot of that weight through diet and exercise. There is a RUclips video where he does an interview on a radio station a few weeks before his death. He says in the interview that he lost over 200 pounds. He wasn't exactly slim and svelte in the interview, but at least he wasn't morbidly obese.
