1) What happened to cause that CSX GP to be put in the NRT/ACE’s consist and for it to wind up between two of the Genesis units? 2) This is some fantastic footage mate. A job well done. 3) Where was that shot at 3:34 taken? I’ve seen roughly the same shot in a video that the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society posted to their TubeYou that was shot in 1986 and 1987 but I can’t remember the name of the town. Is it M-something?
They wouldn't run the GP40 Long Hood Forward for the return trip so they moved it to the middle. Amtrak 203 was suppose to lead West but had PTC issues so thats why the CSX engine was added. The location at 3:34 was the overpass off the interstate exit in Marmet WV I believe. Fun fact: That church on the left was built in the 1860s i think before the Railroad was put in. It avoided destruction as the railroad didnt need to go through it when building the line. Then avoided destruction again when the interstate project came through half a century later. I call it the luckiest church in America.
@@Thecheaperguy I see. Gotta love that PTC. And I knew it was M-something! It was right there on the tip of tongue/fingers but I just couldn’t remember it. I never knew that about that church. If I ever manage to make it up that way from my abode in North Carolina, I’ll definitely have to go stop by that church.
@@Kanawha_Railfan i knew it was old. I couldn't remember how old my dad said it was right off hand. Thanks for correcting the date. A 200+ year old church. I bet its got some stories to tell.

@@Thecheaperguy That church was built back in the 1820s. 50 years BEFORE the railroad came through.

@@Thecheaperguy You can still see where it got hit by a cannonball during the Civil War!
