- CSX stores its unused locomotives in three places, in this video I visit one of those, the Huntington WV shops. The storage tracks here hold plenty of locomotives, some await possible rebuild, others have seen their last revenue service. Plenty of railroad history sitting here. Hope you enjoy this drone flyover!
Drone used for this video is the DJI Mini 3 Pro
If you'd like to look up information on any of the locomotives in this video visit www.rrpicturear... just type "CSX ####" into the search bar to find out info and see pictures of the engine when it was out on the high iron.
This simply cool and sad at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing.
I Agree 100%
I wish CSX need to rebuilding all their locomotives and put back in service. I Have really missed them
Currently rebuilding the flared SD70AC’s and returning them to service

Emotional, interesting, exciting!
Glad some of these will be rebuilt and return the mainlines.
Thanks for this fly by…
Thank you so much for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it!
There's also a bunch of SD70mac's in there as well.
Yes From what I have been told 25 of the ones with the flared radiators will be rebuilt this year.
@@eastkentuckyrailfan But not 4500. Due to part shortage that engine is going to be scrapped.
Excellent video. I enjoy what you post and appreciate your efforts!
Thank you so much for the support! Glad you enjoy them
8:11 What happened to CSX 4500
Using it for parts
With all these units sitting around the different places, it makes you wonder what CSX is still using
They have plenty still active
First time watching one of your videos and I have got to say it’s been one of the best! Really nice seeing all those older EMDS like the SD60I, all the faded macs and the YN2 40-2! Keep up the great content man, you gained yourself a new sub!
Thank you for the kind words and the support!
Awesome
Thank you
I got CSX engines on my wallpaper on this device...think its the Rice yard.. hundreds of engines some of them still look pretty good.
Have you been to the russell shops. They have rare loco's. And prlx shops
I have been but it was before I got the drone. I'll be going back soon to fly over that yard
The majority of the Flared MACs will be getting rebuilt. The first batch of 25 will be done this year, with 17 already confirmed for rebuilding Huntington. I'm really glad they're coming back! Also, I'm hoping CSX decides to bring back that SD60M and any others that they still have left on their roster, although I see the chances of that as very slim.
Csx needs to care about their dash 8s and 9s and rebuild them + put them into service again!
Great job covering the HLS dead line! To me, it's sad seeing all of these stored units, many of which will never turn another wheel in revenue service.
Same for me. Especially some of those EMS some of which aren't even 20 years old.
The deadline can be a sad place. As for an idea for a video, locate yourself uphill and out of sight of the crew. (No crossing)
Theoretically you could have 3 or so trains hammering uphill at run 8 with no horn to drown out the engines.
Save the space of filming downhill trains.
I'll look for some uphill areas to shoot, Thank you for the comment and the support
Where’s this located in huntington? I lived there back in the 90’s.
