    my Ex had one of these, same color. was a pretty nice ride back then. first and only Ford we ever owned though. even had a JBL sound system. she kept it until 89 and then traded it for a Turbo Trans Am. but for 2 years, it served us well ☮

    Wow, I remember seeing a couple of these at my local Ford dealer brand new when I was 14. I fell in love with them. I remember the price was close to 20k and thought it was outrageous.

    I love the factory premium sound stereo on these, mine didnt have the upgraded equalizer option but had the sunroof...the stereo had a certain warmth sound that new stereos just cannot give no matter what, perfect balance of treble and bass...miss that rusty piece of shit...great winter beater though! One thing...i would HIGHLY reccomend you delete the pcv and egr on these as soon as you get it, route the pcv block vent to the turbo inlet nipple just like the head oil separator does from the factory...these are notorious for blowby which will push your rear main seal out! Doing the pcv delete will solve this issue and help you gain low end off boost torque due to now having vacuum under the pistons...also get the blue rubber valve cover gasket seal from a ranger with the metal in them...the cork ones will leak no matter what. Also a front mount intercooler will do you best...plus if you're running 93 octane...up the boost to 18 psi and increase the timing from 10btdc to 12-14 btdc...these arent off the line rippers but great highway rippers and cruisers...and as with any foxbody car...upgraded struts and springs and control arms plus wider tires will help A LOT with handling and make sure you get subframe connectors from maximum motorsports...without them it just takes one numbnut mechanic to jack it up at the weakest part of the front frame rail which is underneath your feet and IT WILL BEND IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SUBFRAME CONNECTORS...ask me how i know

      Also don't be afraid to lower the diff ratio from 3.55 to 3.31's or 3.27's...if you do highway driving then these cars can cruise at a lower rpm and give you even better gas mileage that way...trust me the tiny ihi turbo can handle it perfectly fine

    This Turbo Coupe was built at the Lorain Assembly Plant in Lorain,Ohio......Lorain Assembly built all kinds of mid size performance vehicles during its lifetime.....Lots of one of nones were built at Lorain(Cars that weren't supposed to be built but were anyway)....Lorain was only about 3 hours from Detroit so if a big shot from Ford wanted something built for him it was in fact built however they wanted... Lorain continued on with the "89-"97 T-Bird but they didn't sell as good as the Fox body Tbirds.....This Turbo was one of Lorain's last real performance cars before Ford pulled passenger car production from Lorain Assembly.

    The Factory Tires were Goodyear 225/60/16 Gatorbacks, Not Pirellis.

      @rocksolidmotorsports Gorgeous Car. My Mom had a Silver Blue 87 Turbo Coupe, with the Raven & Charcoal Leather interior and an Automatic Transmission. I had a Black 87 Turbo Coupe, with Red Leather & a 5 Speed Manual. Mom also picked up a Fire Engine Red Non Metallic 88 "Mach-1" Turbo Coupe, with the Raven & Charcoal Cloth Interior. Ford had to use the Mach-1 Name in 1988 or they would have lost the Rights to Use the name. So, they Used the Mach-1 name on a short Run of The Non Metallic Fire Engine Red, and the New for the 1989 Thunderbird Color, Titanium, both Only Available on these Mach-1 Turbo Coupes. They came with a set of 3 Mach-1 Decals that the Dealer was supposed to install on the Front Fenders, behind the Front Wheels, and on the Rear Deck lid, but a lot never got installed on the Cars.

      That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. These Turbo Coupes are a great car and I have only ever seen one Mach-1 Thunderbird ever but didn't know the history behind it or why they used it on the Thunderbird. It'd be cool to get our hands on one eventually.

    Wrong tires for originality, they original tires were Goodyear Gatorback tires, IIRC in P225/60VR16, of course those tires are long out of production and I wouldn't drive on tires that old so I guess the Pirelli tires are acceptable. Owned a 1987 and then a 1988 turbo coupe, both of mine were black, loved the car, the 1988 allowed for full boost in all gears.

    What the hell is an “original” mile? How about cars with unoriginal miles?

    • @05gtdriver
      @05gtdriver 9 месяцев назад +3

      It's worded that way because the older, mechanical speedometers could be rolled back by hand. Thus giving a false actual(or original) miles of the tampered vehicle.

    I went to buy one of these in 86 and made an offer. They said wait until I talk to the manager. I waited and waited then my wife and I left and were outside in our car when the salesman came out and being very rude said no to my offer and that I would have to come up. I told him to stuff it and went to another dealer and bought a Mercury. It turned out to be a POS. After 50000 miles it was having nothing but trouble.I was happy to get rid of it.
