    You covered EXACTLY what I needed when I need it. I was stuck on motor/blower swap and you showed exactly how to gently swap the motor into the captive blower fan setup. THANKS!

    Pretty funny that just before you said it, i said to myself, "this is way harder than it should be", except I added in, "i'm sure it's by design". Great video. Thanks for making it.

    Great video, I'm going to tackle this job myself on my Trane furnace, after I got the blower diagnosed as bad after they ran power to it and motor was a no go. The motherboard was working fine.. They quoted me $1905 for parts and labor, plus the $95 for the service call. I declined, the oem trane motor for my furnace is about 1k new with the module included. I couldn't justify paying $900 for labor and motor mark up on a 1.5 hr at most job. Thanks for the helpful video

  • @stevem9369
    @stevem9369 Год назад

    Sorry for this. Probably get it all the time. I have a trane xl80. Model tdd080r936f4. And I think my blower went out. But I have no idea on what model number the blower is. I've looked but cant get a definitive answer. Furnace kicks on. Can hear the heat going. But when it's time to push. No air. And I'm no electrician. So im afraid to get that deep into it

    That motor mount looks antiquated for that furnace. Never seen that type of mount on a furnace that looks fairly new. It’s a total different color. It’s usually a belly band. The resilient mounts are usually used in a cradle mount situation. I don’t think that is the original setup. Motor sounded like it strained starting up. Did you leave the old capacitor in? Maybe you have the wrong capacitor. Did you check the amp draw on the new motor? That motor sounds like the 32 year old motor in my 1990 carrier.

    • @diyhvacguy
      @diyhvacguy  Год назад +1

      It was a new capacitor that came with the motor, correct size. Sounded fine to me.

      Totally. Just be safe and make sure to turn your breaker off before you touch anything! This job was $600 with materials and labor. It was an oem Trane motor though.

    Can you explain the symptoms they were having ? And how did you know it wasn't a sensor or a furnace pressure switch? My York is old and just stopped blowing. Will light up, get hot, and then shut off. A motor is 300 bucks, sensors are much cheaper. Can you show how to test so you know which one to get? Also, it's a down draft furnace I think. Are those super weird? A little different to work on.

    • @diyhvacguy
      @diyhvacguy  Год назад +1

      In the video you may have saw it but I tested between neutral and the heat pin and I was getting voltage 120 V to that pin so I knew the fan was getting power but nothing was happening. The symptoms for this one was that the flame would light but the fan would not turn on. downdrafts are the same thing but the components will be oriented different. Hello @@diyhvacguy Nice video. I had two techs checking out when the heat did not come from my Trane. One recommended draft inducer motor replacement the other said blower motor. I tried draft inducer motor, pressure switch to get the heat working with very low heat coming for few days. It stopped with a humming noise then I replaced the run capacitor the same low heat came out for a few days then heat stopped with the same humming noise, I tried run capacitor changing but this time it did not work , same humming noise again. Does it sound like a blower motor replacement ?

    What about they work on cold but don’t want to work in heat ?

    • @wasatchmotoco
      @wasatchmotoco Год назад +1

      I’d try swapping the heat wire on the terminal labeled “heat” with the one labeled “cool” and see what happens. If the fan works then you probably have a bad fan. If it still doesn’t work it probably is a bad board.

    Hey Buddy, one quick question, looks like you are certified Hvac tech, so why the channel name DIY HVAC Guy?

    • @diyhvacguy
      @diyhvacguy  Год назад +3

      Because a lot of people aren’t certified but that doesn’t mean they don’t have the capability of repairing their own furnace or air conditioner. So a lot of my videos help DIYers whereas a lot of other hvac channels kind of frown upon the idea of a homeowner fixing their own system. Obviously someone who doesn’t know basic functions of a furnace or how to use hand tools probably shouldn’t be fixing their system but alot of people can totally fix or replace their system and save a bundle. I also explain in my videos where to buy products and parts, what kind of warranty a homeowner can expect etc.

    • @diyhvacguy
      @diyhvacguy  Год назад +2

      Are you sure there isn’t something stuck in it? Your best bet is to pull the assembly and manually spin it and see what’s going on. I’ve had the mounting holes get stripped and cause it to wobble around.

      @@diyhvacguy don't know about anyone else, but my blower motor on an XV80 TUD100R95K4 has gone out twice in 14 years, but everything else on the furnace is like new. Also had to replace the Trane evaporator on AC after only 12 years. A little disappointed I didn't get at least 20 years out of all of it considering the initial system cost.
