It helped me sort out why my MATIC is showing as an ERC20 token under my Ethereum account on Ledger Live, and not under the MATIC account on Ledger Live, even though they use the exact same address. Sounds like I have to resend my MATC to an exchange that allows withdrawals using the MATIC network (not just ERC20).

U just explained exactly what happened when I transferred my matic coin from coinbase to ledger. At 1st I didn’t see it on ledger live & then I saw how much $$ the transaction cost. It hurt. Thx for the video, I sent MATIC to my Ledger and received it as a erc20 account a few months back. Now that I moved Matic from my Robinhood account it gave me the option to send it to Polygon.

Sorry for my ignorance...I want to store an alt coin (VOXEL) on the ledger but I can only sent it through the Matic network. Do I have to send it to the MATIC address? Because for alt coins on the ERC-20 chain I have the option to directly add that specific coin but I don't have that option for the MATIC coins. Thanks in advance

Hi, this is not the case with all wrong network transactions. Since USDT is not supported on the Polygon network, we'd suggest reaching out to the USDT community directly to see if there is a way of recovering your funds.
dude i sent usdc into my ledger threw the matic network tried sending it out says no matic to pay fees. Have matic but its the eth-erc version how the heck to i get matic into the ledger onto the polynetwork. If i send it to kucoin then send it back to my ledger thre the matic network will that work.

These exchanges have tons of money to make this clear yet, all they need to do is have a pop-up window with this video whenever someone goes to transfer. It would take a junior dev 1 day, if that. I was a developer for 12 years in a former life and I get terribly confused a lot of times - that's a sign of terrible UX/UI. For example, I created a matic account in my ledger, generated a receiving address, saw it was identical to the ETH address I just generated, and had no idea if the matic account was matic on eth, or matic on poly. SO, FREAKING, CONFUSING. That's why I'm here. Thanks for clearing that up!

But in the example you gave (because this happened to me) how DO you send MATIC to the polygon network on Metamask from Coinbase - or can you (or will it always go to the Ethereum network)? I have NFTs on Meta on the polygon network but my MATIC is now sitting on the Ethereum network and apparently unusable for moving my polygon NFTs. Ugh!!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! The seed determines, or derives, the public address? I thought public addresses can be any random text, as long as they don't overlap with an existing one (basically being unique)? Why are we using the seed, which I thought used for private "key" only (in the asymmetric cryptography), to "derive" to the public address? I also understand due to mathematical theories, the reverse is not possible, that is, using the public address to derive the seed, but I really thought the public addresses are generated totally in random and checked against the blockchain to see if it's unique or not!

Thank you - that's not possible unless you use the fiat to purchase stablecoins and then withdraw into your Ledger.

Yeah that did the trick cool way cheaper than eth but if you buy your matic on coinbase it will be sent to your ledger as a erc 20 token.
