Can't thank you enough for these videos... Look forward to them.. You are my vacation this year....Since my hubby passed in Dec. I will not be going anywhere very soon... Thanks Again..... Stay safe...
Holmes county is the largest Amish community in the world. My farm was behind the old Alpine Alpa cheesehouse . That is where the largest clockwas originally at.
I always love when I find these country markets / stores with all the local produce and handicrafts. The food and products are unique and natural and of the highest quality. Thanks for sharing a little from that bologna market.
I am so happy to see you showcase this beautiful part of the state. I grew up just on the edge of Amish Country, Daddy still lives in Richland County. I'm in TX now but go back every year and we make a day trip out of visiting some of the Amish stores. Miss everything about it - except the winters. If you are still up there in the fall, you should visit Springhill Fruit Farm/Orchard in a little town north of Mansfield named Ganges. Best apples EVER!
Thanks Russ for all these videos of areas I'd also like to see. Thanks especially for the info and videos of all the campgrounds you stay at. For some reason it really makes it more personal, fun and complete. Stay safe & God bless.
Near my hometown Russ. But I would like to say that the middle of Amish country is in near Middlefield Ohio in Ashtabula County. And Ashtabula has the most covered bridges as well as the longest covered bridge called smollen bridge. Locals still call it the gulf. Lol. Take care.
Any time we pass through Amish Country on vacation we always stop at one of their Bakeries. Homemade breads, Pastries, pies.... Gain 5 lbs just on the drive home.
Mohican State Park by Loudonville has a covered bridge over the Clearfork River below the dam & not far away in Knox County the Covered Bridge of Dreams, 370 feet long & no vehicles permitted. Only Amish horse & buggy, bicycles, hikers etc. Glad you got some great weather to explore our area.
My wife and I often go to Lancaster PA, We love that Amish food. Our favorite restaurant is the "Bird In Hand" As always another great video. Safe travels 🙏🛣🚐
This looks just like back roads of Maine. We can’t tell any difference watching this route😊 Green grass and trees, no Amish buggies though😉 Drone shot at end is Beautiful!
I love covered bridges. One of my favorite movies is The Bridges of Madison County which has a lot of covered bridges. The garden looks really nice, a lot of work because they can get weeds real easy. Beautiful horse 🐎. If happen to come to Michigan you want to stop at the town of Holland. It is on the western side of the state. It has the Dutch windmills, tulips and Dutch wooden shoes.
I love living in this area. Been here my entire life. Amish dolls never have faces on them, by the way. Tell ya what, the winters here are not that brutal. It can get cold for a short while, but seems like its getting warmer every year here. Another peaceful good vid.
I can't wait till it's our turn to take the drive through. In the meantime, we've got an RVrTV sticker on the back of our car and the carrying rack on top. We're ready to go and wish you well on your continued adventures.
We were just in Sugarcreek a couple of weeks ago! NuCamp, a great company that builds teardrop campers held their annual uCamp Tab rally at Winklepleck Campground in Sugarcreek. The factory is just over the pastures. A group picture taken at the clock! We had a great time. It was nice to see your visit to the area! We're enjoying your trip!
Wife and I luv that area, live about an hour away, go twice a month. Walnut Creek cheese, which is near that covered bridge sells a lot more than cheese, I buy local ground beef there, and believe me you can tell the difference, it makes great burgers, nice butcher shop, fresh produce and lunch meat, great store, Der Dutchman has the best breakfast buffet I have ever been to and I believe it’s $8.95. Thanks for the video.
🙋♀️Hello Russ! I even thought the brick art was unique in that town with the Cuckoo Clock. I loved it! That covered bridge was huge. My favorite covered bridge was in Mingo Park, Pa. Loved the craft fairs they held every year. Really nice campground you picked out. Hopefully you'll have a restful night. The flower gardens are really pretty, the bench warmly welcomes one to come rest. The drone footage of the area was beautiful. Lush green as far as the eye can see it seemed. The last time you got cheese with me was at Tillamook in Oregon. You made my mouth water, & low & behold our Food City store in Galax, Va. did start carrying it. I loved the cheddar. Enjoy your Trail Balogna & cheese sandwiches. Love your giggles! 👍
We stayed at the very same campground June 10, 11, 12, and 13th! Love visiting Amish Country. The antique and thrift shops have so many beautiful items and just driving around and taking In the scenery makes for a great trip! We met so many nice people. Can’t wait to see the next video! Our favorite restaurant is in Berlin. It’s called Boyd and Wurthman. Loved you video and we can’t wait to go back again soon!
I have noticed alot more Amish use the electric bike. $29 a night? That's awesome. I have paid alot more than that for a tent sight. I hope you got a chance to stop at Heinies cheese house.
That was a beautiful ride, Russ. I enjoyed seeing the horse drawn buggies, very beautiful horses. Am I the only one who wanted a glimpse of your bologna sandwich? I haven’t had a bologna sandwich since I left Pennsylvania in 1974!
1:43 Road apples. Saw plenty of them while living in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Must tell you, Russ, that's the first covered bridge I've seen with an outside walkway. Usually one passes through inside while praying that some maniac doesn't come flying along in mow-down mode. Neat. First there was The Galloping Gourmet on television. Now there's The Traveling Gourmet Galloping Through Ohio's Amish Country. Good thing The Beast has that heavy-duty suspension system, right, Russ? Continued safe travels, sir.
Beautiful landscape. So much green and that classic old bridge. But Trail Bologna, eh? Very interesting but I'd be game to try it! Looking online it appears to be hickory smoked and that sounds good to me!
Wow Russ, you are pretty close to my home in Lewis Center. I was hoping to meet you, but I guess another time. Stay safe and enjoy Ohio. We stopped at the Der Dutchman this past Saturday and got two chicken dinners to go. We love their food.
Hello Mr. Russ. I love your videos and watch them daily. They are so relaxing and informative and they remind me of the videos I would watch of the Artist Bob Ross who enjoyed painting Mountains & Barns and the Countryside. I wonder how many wonderful ideas he would have gotten by watching your travel videos. Be well Russ. God Bless you and Mr. Bob Ross. Victor in Quincy Ma. USA
If you're continuing west, the indiana amish area around topeka Indiana is worth a look. Especially the drive from Lagrange south west towards Topeka (Hawpatch road?) then that puts you square into RV assembly plant country and Ben's soft Pretzels, as well as a trip back into the 70's if you happen to go to Concord mall in Elkhart (it's now mostly vacant but what a time capsule of 70's mall)
Thanks to mr. Yoder and mrs. Ruth my experience of camping at either one of their campgrounds was ruined very very very very bad experience with those people
Hahaha 10 lbs if you get out the first week. 🤣 awesome always Russ, don't matter how many times you go your never disappointed , and the food is always so good.
I lived in Millersburg from 1977 to 1981. I would ride my motorcycle on Rt 62 or Rt 241 back to Massillon and Canton Ohio, When I wanted to go back to be with my friends. I lived in Canton Ohio from 1971 to 1977 In 1981 I moved in with my sister in Massillon. A year later I moved back to Canton, Ohio. I met the girl of my dreams in 1976. Unfortunately she was 16 and I was 22. In 1986, I came across her again. We got married on New Years Eve 1987 and have been married ever since.

Just in the past few years seeing more and more Amish on bikes. And electric bikes too! Probably faster and more convenient than a horse and buggy.
Thanks for taking me along on another adventure.
They sure raise beautiful horses and the care they get is amazing.

For those writing off Amish country because of puppy mills, I’m going to guess Missouri is off your list too. It has the most.
I've stayed at that park two different times. They took reservations and credit card the last time I was there. I love Amish country in the fall!!

Just got back from the area and we didn’t see a single Amish person riding a standard bike, they were all riding electric.
Like you said "Beautiful"! 👍
Thanks for visiting my part of the world.
