Our cousins from Australia visited us when we lived in Ohio. We took them down through Amish country to see the area. I would suggest to add Kidron, Ohio, to your list, to visit Lehman Hardware, and also the Kidron Auction (animal auction). A slice of Americana, and you will see lots of Amish & their buggies.

I come down here about every other week to Millersburg. You drove past a great restaurant called Baggs that I go to often. Next to it is the Millersburg brewery where you can have a great beer with an Amish man. Don't even think about driving thru either Millersburg or Berlin during the fall season on Saturdays. Its so crouded with tour busses and other traffic. No parking and all the businesses are packed. Busses come in as far away as Indiania, Michigan and all over.

🙋‍♀️Millersburg is a very inviting 'lil town. Love the floral arrangements the town has out. The Courthouse Steeple is beautiful. I liked the stone architect also. I would have liked to have sat on a bench watching for the buggies. Those horses have a very good life, well taken care of. So beautiful. Russ, you should have a huge picture postcard collection by now!

Sorry to tell you that many Amish do not take care of their horses. Most are retired race horses that are now pulling too much weight up and down the hilly countryside. They overwork them in the fields, and don't properly vet the animals. Just sayin. I live there.

They have been working on the court house for a couple of yrs. now. I wish you would have shown where the Amish tie up their houses at the court house. In 1986 the Greyhound dropped me off at the courthouse after doing my time in the military. The courthouse has great food. A lot of the shops in town are mostly antique shops and unfortunatly the "old" stores are gone. When you said that your next stop is 6 or 7 miles away I was thinking it may be Killbuck. But Killbuck is a bit further. If you are heading back towards Columbus on Rt. 62 look for the "big city" of Stillwell. It has a junkyard, church and about 8 houses. Looking forward to the next video.

Love OAC (Ohio Amish Country)! We have been going there for over 20 years. Been watching your videos since you were down in TN, and love each and every one of them! I have to go catch up and watch the older ones now. You missed coming to our area in Fincastle, VA. If you can work it in, I have a very quiet and nice place to stay for free! Talk about an old historic small town, in Fincastle is the Botetourt County courthouse with land records back to 1770! We have the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA, a few miles down the road, and also the other end of the Blue Ridge Parkway is very near. And if you haven't seen Appomattox, VA, where the nation came together again, you're missing out on the final chapter of the war you covered in Gettysburg. Let me know. There are lots of things you can video in day trips from a central location, let me know...

Went to Google to find out what the clock tower looked like, found some interesting facts. The county approved a million dollar restoration project last July (2020). Apparently, the majority of the project was the reconstruction of the clock tower to it's original design. According to one article, the original tower was removed in the early fifties, and, apparently, replaced with a less extravagant tower. There was debate on what to make the tower out of. The original was steel, but the decision was made to use copper, since that material is more maintenance friendly. You don't say when this was filmed, because the article states that the new clock tower was lifted on top of the courthouse on the tenth (of June). So, the tower is probably under that tarp. That bright, shiny (brand new) cupola was apparently just delivered and is probably been missing from the tower. The article stated that, for the last sixty years, the courthouse has had a "flat top" appearance. Thought you'd like to know.
