I'm about to do the Shock/struts on my 2005 Rav4, 220k miles. I appreciate your calmness and it just doesn't make sense to pay $1000+ if you can pay $3-400 for your shocks and tools to do it yourself. It's such a big saving you will feel much better about it, and you can get better materials for the money.
If you be able to put it back to it was then not so bad in the alignment. If after you done it doesn't pull to either side then you don't need to do alignment but for the best result you will need to do it. Just play by ear. Check your front tires wear out to see you see any change. Normally my didn't effect so I didn't do alignment.
Tsab I just changed out struts to the b6 blisten an Im getting the same clunking noise now. I changed out the top mounts an kept the old springs on the front. Sway bar end links are tight
Never buy aftermarket Shock and Strut for the vehicle. Always buy OEM or KYB for this vehicle. Because I have the experience in the past that they dont last as long then OEM or KYB shock/strut.
Toyota indeed use KYB in RAV4. But if I get lifetime warranty and get it from Autozone with only need phone number for warranty purposes, I will go with Autozone. Yes, they are not as good as KYB but swapping the whole assembly is much easier than removing struts from the spring. Besides that, the struts mount, insulation and stopper are wearing out at that 200k miles. Replacing them with KYB parts could cost 2x more than Easystruts Autozone. Sometimes the spring starts shaggy in bad roads area at 200k miles.

Do a video on those back doors. Always shaking and making noise I hear it like mine.

Thanks for the video. I have a little play in the steering wheel on my 2010 RAV4 with 145k miles. The struts look ok but I am gonna change them out.
Good video. To the point and we'll executed. I will take this on, no problem now. Thanks for the video
You welcome
Thank you for the video! I want to do this on my 2007. Question - did this impact alignment?

Probably the mouth cup bearing is bad. The reason I changed the whole set is that clunking.

That is a hundred percent right KYB or OEM is the way to go
I bought KYB for my Dodge truck because they did so good my my Miata.

He doesn’t torque his nuts on the strut and sway bar link
I would've stayed with OEM Shocks.. Now you change the whole riding characteristics of your Toyota..
