Your the man chris, old school fishing. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Old school treats you good and I love the staying away from the fleet style. I'd love to take a trip this fall if the chunk bite happens, I'll get the chunks and good food.
Man o man... I can only pray for a day like that on my boat. The fishing out of OCMD has been brutal this year. There's a ton of life out there, from the Wilmington to Washington, and I'm hoping we get a great fall bite. Thank you for the video - it'll help to get me through until the next weather window (I run a 26'CC, so I have to pick my days).
I commented half way through the video but you nailed it at the end w/ hot showers and food. CC's are cool but after a long day of fishin that hot shower is the best and hot food sitting in comfort is awesome. Talking about the cool experiences from the day and a beer if I'm not runnin the boat. I'm always nervous tho running in the dark but on a good size sportfish I feel much safer than I do on a CC.
Went out Aug 19th on an overnight party boat trip out of Brielle for tuna. Last year had two on, but lost them due to idiots not bringing in their lines and tangling me. Lots of fish were caught though. This year, no tuna bites. Had one 7' dusky shark up to the boat. At least I got a 30" mahi off of a pot buoy so I was not skunked. Only a handful of yellowfins on the boat (I think it was 4) and 2 tiny bluefins. A poor day for tuna that you seem to have been experiencing too.
@@reaperfishingnj8623 they jig on one side and chunk on the other and you cannot chunk with braid (need a 200 yard mono topshot if you are going to use it)
Hey Mike from freedom fishing here, new to the Tuna scene. thanks for the awesome footage. Slowly but surely I'm learning thru your you tubes. I am on long Island so we share the same waters. Do you charter? I would be down to come to AC and pay my way. I am trying to finally fish more and work less keep the videos coming thanks again.
Have any luck out there this year? Only got out on the yellowfin grounds one time this summer, No tuna only sharks. Hitting the soft baits and poppers lol. Mahi was great
Awesome trip and Reaper video as usual. If you do any more trips can you show us how your hooking the different baits? What size mono was on your chunking rods?
50 - 60 lb mono topshot on top of 80 lb braid backing. At some point i'll show how we hook our baits. this vid below goes over just about everything on our chunking rods ruclips.net/video/TuYQM28L8lQ/видео.html
What is the average water temperature? Whale sharks are wonderful pelagic fish attractions. It looks to me that y'all reel those big fish in really fast on relatively lightweight tackle. I just wonder if the water temperature makes a big difference in fight time.
not a stupid question at all. They are little black birds with some white/grey on them. They typically feed on the remnants of a feed way down below. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Storm_petrel
no fishing for me this September unfortunately. Just not a good work schedule. I'm off a bit end of month but looks like zero windows in foreseeable future.
@reaperfishingnj8623 Chris I fish the cayons by you all the way to veech ,How can I get intouch with u to see if your gonna be out that weekend in October can share Intel, Hudson was slow we got 3 yellowfin in the morning trolling switch to chunking nothing .I moved to the Bacardi at 530pm Saturday and chucked to Sunday morning around 4am, made a move to another location, and found the big yellows from 80 to over 100 closer inshore .

Ugh. I have been contemplating coming out on a party boat tuna trip. Honestly just for the experience and to do some videoing.

it's been a pretty horrendous season for us. ONly a few decent trips. I haven't fished in over a month due to weather and work
Nice trip. Been a terrible year out of Indian River inlet.
thanks matt. it's been brutal.
Would love to see how you filet and processs the fish at the dock

They are Storm petrels basically ocean going birds that feed on the left overs that float up from a tuna feed.
Yer boat's a floating slaughter house Captain.
ha. Not so much this year unfortunately!
@@reaperfishingnj8623 there's still plenty of good fishen time left this year. It'll turn on for ya. If they're out there, you'll find em.
No yft inshore north of you. Starting to lose hope for this year.
it's been a terrible year!
I deleted all my comments . I had no idea this was out of New Jersey. Just making crazy comments here.
