The removal of the alert slider is pretty much a nail in the coffin for one plus phones. There aren't any good reasons anymore to buy op devices, especially under the oppofication to colorOS. If I want ColorOS I will get an oppo device which is far superior to the half-baked op we have today. Sad to say, it is time to move on for good.
The way OnePlus has put itself on a path of identity suicide is quite saddening, to say the least. I used to dream of owning their phones as a teen, but let's see how the company fares in the future...
@@HarjotShah I agree Oneplus has been going downhill since 7+PRO but who would buy a s22 ultra or something else against the OP10PRO give price differences?
@@HeavenRoadV In fact I bought iPhone 12 to replace my OP8 pro. I don’t like OneUI but I would gladly pay more for better software experience or a phone with lesser specs for the same price but better software than buy an OP phone now
The Alert Slider and OxygenOS are the only reasons why I've so far bought three generations of OnePlus phones. Not sure, if I'll end up getting a fourth.
@@Ciki92 I've just ditched my 8 Pro. It became practically unusable after the oxygen 12 update. 3 security patches in 12 months was the last straw for me. Shame as I used to love the brands hardware/software.
Haha, yeah -- I owned OnePlus phones for 6+ years, but once I found my preferred setting, I never moved the slider off of _don't bother me_ mode. Now I'm very happy w/ my Pixel 5.
I am so infuriated with what OnePlus has been doing in recent years. I've always considered OnePlus the best value Android phone, with great software, good hardware and always priced well. When the new software update cake out and I got it for my OnePlus 9 Pro, I didn't expect too much, but it changed everything. It kept the new font which I had grown accustomed to, but had integrated a new and terrible software skin. App Icons suck, customisation has suffered and OnePlus no longer looks like OnePlus, but Oppo. This is a tragedy, and the only option I have left in the Android Market is now Samsung, which I've tried to avoid. (NOT CONSIDERING IOS)
Same I was super pissed at the update. I was late for work cause it updated while I slept and it needed me to sign into EVERYTHING again, like it reset. And I had to learn how to use my phone while I was at work which made my boss none to happy. To prevent system updates, I went into developer mode and I refuse to turn it off. Planning to switch when I get a chance.
I'm on a 7T Pro and I'm just gonna move to an iPhone as soon as Apple puts a USB-C connector on one of them. Stock Android phones are dead; long live bloated UI skins.
@@sodapone iPhone will leave you with far less customization options After all, what made the first 1p devices special was the customizability You're probably better off with a Pixel
current phone is 8t and is actually my first OP device. loved the phone from day one, but the update to android 12/colorOS from 11/oxygen caused a whole host of problems overnight including completely breaking my CELL SERVICE (cricket US) ultimately leading me to be forced to roll back manually to 11. Now there are weird quirks like voice to text and android auto not quite working correctly accompanied by a nearly CONSTANT reminder to update to the same version that previously broke my service, which is simply unacceptable. I use my phone for work and the quirks mentioned above are annoying in the line of that work, but at the same time I am extremely hesitant to update at all now for fear of the same thing happening all over again. Definitely will be the last OP device moving forward. Shame too because I had been watching the brand since the FIRST iteration and was sooo excited to get this one because of that.
@@festusyuma1901 is there anything else you'd recommend? I'm still on OnePlus6T and don't know what to get. Are all the good phones expensive now? I'd say £700 plus is expensive for me
I owned OPO, OPT and OP 3T. Cyanogenmod in OPO was the best software (in my opinion) in its price point at that time, OOS had much flaws in OPT and I quickly moved to custom ROM. Things changed with OP 3T, were OOS was great. I recently was looking for replacement of my actual phone and I don't wanna have Oneplus anymore. This brand has cut off its roots, which fundaments were great community focused around OP phones and software.
I started on the One Plus One and my last was the OnePlus 6. I started to lose interest when the 7 came out without a headphone jack and it's never picked up. Removal of everything that made them special - including the alert slider (killer feature) and the ever rising cost pushing them outside the limit of what I was ever prepared for any phone was the final nail for me. There is nothing left about One Plus phones or the company itself that I find appealing. Nothing phones on the other hand, seem to be the spiritual successor to Oneplus.
Haha I thought i am the only one that stop buying oneplus because of headphones jack. I am still using oneplus 6 because dont want to lose the luxury of having headphones jack
@@Hari-kx2er Yup. It was my first and last OP phone. Still planning to use it for a while, though battery life is starting to get really poor. Other than that, it still holds up with any flagship phone I've tried. None of them seem like much of an improvement.
Oxygen OS was the only reason I bought a OnePlus phone. But after the departure of Oxygen Os I don't think I will be recommending it to anyone or buying one for myself.
I've been using OnePlus for 6 years since it's based on Google, but after the release of OP9, it became the color OS of oppo, so I'm worried about switching to Google Pixel.
A lot of bugs have been fixed in recent months, especially since the release of Android 13. Things are looking up. If you are afraid of getting a Pixel 6 series phone, you can wait about a month until the Pixel 7 comes out to see what the vocal minority on Reddit have to say.
This would already be the end of the OnePlus brand itself, because as we know the OS is the main factor in a phone and in this brand, believe me, it was the soul and reason for buying them.
As OP phones are now available in more countries than ever before, from the company's perspective, putting resources into the OS to be that different is a waste, due to the majority of potential buyers not really caring. Not everyone is an enthusiast.
I have an OP6. My first and last oneplus phone as with each iteration it became the villain of its own story. Was a flagship killer to rival the big boys only to become one with the beasts but in the worst ways possible. Removing the alert slider, using cheaper materials (look at the 10 models), the merging with oppo and their OS, the constant delays in updates, the slew of bugs yet to be fixed, the price bumps of each phone. I'm switching the the Asus zenfone 9 when it releases and I'm sticking to it until then.
sadly developers moved to telegram groups besides xda's ui/layout is old and complicated for beginners who just started to get into rooting world with no proper guides and supports like u get in telegram groups
I think OxygenOS 10 is the best also (at least for oneplus 7pro). I just updated mine to OxygenOS 11 strictly for easier access to google pay (holding down power button). However, performance is slower and last time I updated my oneplus 7pro to OxygenOS 11 I had to factory reset it because my data and wifi completely died no matter what I did. Hoping for the best this time after giving oneplus months to fix the issue.
I've bought a used one not so long ago after accidentaly breaking my Meizu 16X's display and I really enjoy it. Since I'm used to lack of updates by a decaying brand, the Oxygen OS thing is not a big deal for me.
Still using my OnePlus 6 and I bought it straight after release But, yea, it gets slower.. sometimes it is processing picture for so long, annoying. My mother's OnePlus 7 is sooooo slow in every aspect... idk what's the problem. Maybe her full gallery. :D
I was a 1/3/6 user and now a 9 Pro user here. I'm more bothered about the loss of the alert slider. That might make me look elsewhere if it doesn't come back!
This is the reason I ended up just giving up on OOS all together and just installed the pixel experience rom on my oneplus 8T. The only downside is it doesn't appear tat I will be getting the Android 13 based version of this rom but I have been nothing but satisfied with my OP 8T now that I have a essentially stock Android rom.
I have a OnePlus 6T. This brand used to be on fire, I'm so annoyed that they've taken this path of being like all other brands. OnePlus used to be unique with its low priced flagships and it's features like zen mode and oxygen OS or even the minor mute slider. It really is disappointment...
Yo I also got a OnePlus6T, are you still planning to keep yours? I didn't pay much attention to software/app updates till now. I can't update Amazon etc. So I kinda want a new phone. Originally planned to keep this phone for longer than 3 years but this kinda sucks to me about the whole no support no more. If you'd buy a new phone what would you buy? Idk what to buy or what's the average £ to spend anymore since I've never been paying attention to the phone market either. It's just seems like everything's expensive now.

I recently bought a OP10P. That new OxygenOS is not that bad at all. Of course, if there were better options on the market, I would not buy another OnePlus phone. As an old OxygenOS fan, I simply hate that OnePlus betrayed us. But unfortunately, Pixels are just awful and there's zero options on the market to replace OnePlus. It still is simply the best phone on the market and cheap too.
As a coloros user for 3 phones now.... Tbh the level of optimization Oppo provides on it's devices is top notch... Even the phone with snapdragon 695 and just 3GB ram ran pretty nicely in 2021... So other than just not looking like stock Android and removal of alert slider i don't see any shortcomings with coloros on 1+ phones
the issue is that it's OnePlus who ruined both the UI's together and made a half baked shit which is neither proper OxygenOS nor ColorOS but is full of bugs, pretty bad Bugs
I remembered my experience with OP1, loved the add in Tea bag that came in the box (elegantly unique), got OP2 after it was relased and subsequently to OP3T. I switched to military grade android phones after that, Thanks OP for the alarm slider the wake up on alarm and the quick swipes for torchlight(LED) and camera. Missed them already.
Recent came back to oneplus with the oneplus 10R/Ace after using Samsung for 3 yrs. Sure from the Oneplus 3T which was my previous oneplus, it deviated, but some elements are still there. I am not an enthusiast, so my concern is only with the efficiency of the UI. With all that said, I'd say Oneplus is evolving and "Dead" is pessimistic. Now, they do need to change their tagline as I do think their decisions has changed.

I've been with OP since OP3, through OP5, 7T Pro and now 9 PRO. Worsening software updates, and now this... I made decision to switch to iPhone 14 once it's being released. It's sad thing from one side, but OP made it themselves.
Thinking about a Pixel 7 Pro myself, if I can afford it. I won't get another OnePlus phone until they sort out their software and updates "problem" but I'm still happy to keep running my 7T Pro if I don't fancy spending money on the Pixel
Afternoon my OnePlus 7T Pro will die, I'll probably go with Motorola. They among the few to offer stock Android (even "stocker" than the Pixel phones), plus a few additional, useful features, and now a great desktops mode. I believe that the Moto Edge 30 Ultra launch is around the corner, so I stay tuned.
My 9 pro is on oxygen os 11 and I'm never updating it. No issues at all. I'm not type of person that roots so I'm satisfied keeping my phone as is till the next couple of years
I really wish OP would get on top of their software game. I have a OP 7T Pro Mclaren edition and it is just a piece of art. The last update has left my phone battery draining for no reason any time I run any google apps whatsoever. I've had to disable all of them but the experience is very hindered. My OP now lives in my drawer in hope that there will be a better software version released, but I'm not holding my breath.
In my view 1+ used to be best value for money if you want a capable phone and close to stock android. First has been made redundant several generations ago and now color OS, it becomes just one of the faceless Chinese brands.
OnePlus is no longer the company it used to be, prices are now on par with other flagships with the same specs, there's nothing really unique about the company or the phone any longer, so why should choose OnePlus? I started out with the OnePlus X. Major reason was the impressive specifications at great price. Fell in love with it the moment moment I got it out of the box (still have the box, by the way) Sleek, beautiful screen, great specifications, amazing camera. I dropped it many times, without the screen ever cracking. (well until it finally did, after three years of constant, rough use) I used to be a real fanboy, used to love going on the forums, discussing the phone with others, asking questions and answering them.. After my OPX was finally put to rest, I bought THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PHONE I've ever seen. Indian variant of the OnePlus 7T. Still wonderful OS, great camera, top notch specs, mesmerizing body with those frosted panels, blazing fast phone wonderful touches here and there that truly made the phone a joy and delight to own. Such as the braided charging cable and the carbon fibre and alcantara case. I've been using my OP7T just as I used my previous phone, and still in love with it. But it's starting to show it's age: the battery dies faster, warp charging sometimes doesn't work, the camera is no longer as good as it used to be. I'll use it for as long as it lasts, probably even send it for servicing. But after that, I don't think I'm buying another phone from OnePlus. Each year, I've eagerly watched OnePlus launch events, hoping they do something good again. Each year I'm disappointed. Some of the reasons are: The first few batches of OnePlus 8 and 9 phones having display problems. OnePlus merging with Oppo. (Especially hate the merger of Oxygen OS and Colour OS. OP said that the OSS will be separate, but under a single dev team. Hah) Carl Pei leaving OnePlus. Prices matching other flagships. Nothing really unique. OnePlus was once a phone company with a niche following of tech nerds with tight pockets. Now it's a phone company that wants to cater to everyone. That might be in the company's best interests, but OnePlus and many of its long-term costumers don't align with each other. Thank you for everything so far, OnePlus. Thank you for two great phones, 6 years of great memories. I'll be looking at Samsung for my next phone.

@@michaelcorcoran8768 Can you explain what you mean with "supported by carrier?" In Germany you just throw in your sim card and if the carrier supports the same band as your phone, you are good to go. But that's of course the task of the phone maker, not the carrier.

It's fascinating, to me, how many people love the alert slider. I've been rocking my OP6T for a few years now, always with custom ROMs, and I never use the slider; mostly due to how granularly you can set up the phone's sound profile. Not saying it's not worth having, honestly I wish my phone had a headphone jack versus the slider, but I also understand that everyone's use case is different
I saw this trajectory years ago. My last 1+ phone was a 6T, which if I recall correctly was the first device where they removed the headphone jack. That was my last 1+ phone for a reason, though sadly I'm now an iOS user, something I never thought I would say. That being said though, I've had no disappointments with iOS and don't plan to switch back - there really is something to be said for Apple's ecosystem cohesion.

I moved few years back to OnePlus 3T from iPhone 6S after it was rumored that X would be priced at $999. I was blewn away how OxygenOS fast was but the speed came at price of stripping native apps like messages, clock and other things from basic features. Oxygen OS right now is a downgraded version of Color OS. If you want a good and beautiful OS for your phone, just buy Samsung, Oppo, or Google Pixel. Oxygen OS is not even stable rn. I have a One Plus phone, and it take them months to fix any issue.

Most likely EvolutionX is they have a official rom for this phone, since their unofficial A9 ROM offers a lot of customization on the Redmi Note4. I also installed that ROM on my GF's POCO X3 Pro and she was really happy about this ROM. Netflix 4k worked without any problems, the "slow charging" issue was fixed in 1 week and there are a lot of mods like FPS Unlock which work on games like CoD Mobile.

Fell in love with it the moment moment I got it out of the box (still have the box, by the way)
Sleek, beautiful screen, great specifications, amazing camera. I dropped it many times, without the screen ever cracking. (well until it finally did, after three years of constant, rough use)
I used to be a real fanboy, used to love going on the forums, discussing the phone with others, asking questions and answering them..
Some of the reasons are:
The first few batches of OnePlus 8 and 9 phones having display problems.

I bought the OnePlus 7t pro 5G McLaren Edition in October of 2021, I was selling it for $150 but I'm taking the post down. This just makes me want to keep it till it becomes obsolete.
Over the years I've been using CyanogenMod and Resurrection remix, where phone brand didn't matter to me, only the hardware.
Times have changed, I don't even root my phone now. I've settled with One UI on Samsung and its not as disappointing as I thought it would.
I have had a OnePlus 6 and now a Nord 2 but I am thinking next time to look for another handset.
Why?
@@iamajustababa2000s The Nord 2 seems more buggy and clunky than the OP6 and does not get as many upgrades. So the security patches are further out of date.
@@andrewthomson5266 ohh
Flashed my OnePlus 6 with Pixel Experience, because with OxygenOS the battery is drained within 2 hours max and even factory resetting and replacing the battery lead to the new battery only having be 1/3 of it's initial capacity within less than half an year. The Pixel OS at least manages to not drain the battery within a few minutes.
after using 3T and 6T, finally moved out from oneplus and switched to a different brand. if cannot get nearly stock android, then there are lot more options from various brands.
like me, they will loose many return customers in coming days.
Using the OP8Pro unfortunately running on Android 11 because 12 is not usable. I find this is the perfect oneplus phone, except that software support is not really available anymore. RIP Oneplus
BBK is at another strategy though it's age old one. NOTHING. The kid is doing good.
maybe with phone (2)
Got a source on that?
Android 12 has severely ruined my OP9P.... That's AFTER a hard reset none of the issues were fixed. I'm switching to pixel 7 when it comes out.
The OnePlus Nord 2 EU update rollouts is a disaster. My Nord 2 is still running OxygenOS 11. 3, where there are a lot new update OxygenOS rollout announces, the OxygenOS 12 should have been relaesed in July (as OnePlus said)
July 2023 OnePlus 10 Pro full fat Oxygen/ColorOS 13.1 I am fine with it. All is working well no issues and planning on buying the OnePlus 12 when it comes out if its a nice phone..... If not then I will go back to Samsung S series
As a OnePlus 7T Pro user my heart has broken bit by bit over the subsequent releases of OP devices. I just want to buy the 7T Pro over and over again and continue living in the glory days of OnePlus.
It is truly a shame they settled...
I have been a one plus fan since the 1. Had the 7pro 8pro and the 9pro. Each time I was less Enthusiastic. I was less excited with the lack of updates with the software and not a big fan of the OS either. I saw some decent trade in offers from Samsung so I went with the S22 ultra. I am very happy with the decision I made. Nothing about the 10 was appealing to me. I think I'm done with oneplus. Do you really think that they care??? Stuart.
Switched to PixelExperience on my OnePlus 7, so far so good.
No audio?
I am a OnePlus 9 user and a Oneplus user since 2018.... It is true that Oxygen OS is dead and now it is full of bugs along with chinese color os skin....
I just don't like it.
I like my Pixel 4 software far better than it.
Wait for oxygen os 13 it will come in Jan or Feb for op 9 series
@@iamajustababa2000s I didn't like Oxygen os 13 as well.... I have used it as a Beta... It is the same color os.... Over polished chinese look whereas I prefer the minimalistic one.
This is a shame that OnePlus intentionally lost its identity and dug their own grave.
I just dont understand why people support this merger calling it its a good decision, etc. If they wanted color os why not buy a oppo phone .
yeah
I bought the OnePlus One originally purely because of the use of CyanogenMod that I was using on my S4 just prior. That was the last OP device I bought as I had no desire once that ROM was no longer standard.
If you don't use a phone because you feel the "company has lost it's way" in terms of software. You need to go outside
I've bad luck, I bought my one plus 8 almost a year ago, before android 12 was flawless, after android 12 is slow. Before one plus 8 I bought a LG V50 before LG announce they are not longer making phones :)
I have used oneplus 1,3T,5,6T,8T mainly for OS and alertslider ... With both gone... Its time to move elsewhere either google pixel or Motorola (apart from camera) or Nothing for better Stock OS
I hear they're considering unmerging the software to it's original pre merge state when they release Android 13
I agree.
Oneplus used to stand out with it's cheap price being name flagship killers due to it's good spects and clean feel, but now it's like every other phone now I dont even look at oneplus phone. I feel like I'm losing out in thinks while paying the almost same for a premium phone or even a gaming phone
Carl Pei's departure It took the brand to regression, because he was a creative person and his thoughts made this brand better, this is my opinion.😞
The 7 Pro will be my last OP. The selling point for me was the unblemished screen. But since the pop up camera is now acting up and affecting the whole camera system, I'm done. Don't even get me started on the adaptive brightness, either!!
Really have yet to have a single issue with the pop-up camera on mine in 2 years of abuse. And I mean ABUSE using the camera in Texas dirt and dust, and have yet to have it fail in any way. I have been looking at the 9 pro pretty strongly but now I'm hesitant after seeing all these UI issues. The hole punch is simpler and in a discreet position on the screen so I can deal with that.
@@rileyneufeld7001 It turns out that I pinched an antenna cable during an earlier repair and for some weird reason it affected the camera. I swapped out the cable and the camera is fine again! So yeah, the pop-up camera is actually indestructible- and I live in a desert too!
Oi! Where's the sound?
Ok but where is the sound?
I loved Oneplus and Oxygen but the past year they screwed my OnePlus 9 Pro so bad it was unbearable. I have left Oneplus and don't think I will be back until they fix their problems
I bought OP 9RT recently and don't upgrade to 12. it seems 12 is full of bugs. i have no idea about 13 but I hope it come stable.
I'm happy that I never was a big fan of OOS.
The updates for my country were delivered very late (the latest C61 update was pushed at 21.08.2022) and the amount of background apps is just too annoying.
I have a Redmi Note 4 as my daily driver for traveling since my iPhone 13 Pro Max and Galaxy Z Fold 3 don't have enough SIM Slot's for all my SIM cards and after my friend gives me his OnePlus 9 Pro since he'll be switching to Xiaomi, I'll immediately unlock the bootloader like I did on my 6t and 8 Pro (I already sold them) and I'll be flashing a AOSP rom.
Can't wait till my friend gives me this phone and I flash a custom rom on it. I saw on XDA that there are already some ROM's which have Android 13 on them ^^
Been using my OnePlus 3 for the past 5 years, used it well past its supported lifespan. The Nord 3 that is supposed to come out still hasn't arrived and the competition is just better. It ain't what it used to be anymore...
Had the oneplus 6 for 4 years but I didn't want to fix it again as I had already 3 times. Now got the op7 pro, liking it a lot with the 90hz 1440p screen and the cameras, as well as the hidden front camera I rarely use. Liking Oxygen on this too but might think about installing custom rom when support ends.
I also had the OP6 ever since the release event in SF in May 2018--great phone, but due to their change in UI/UX strategy I'm very glad to be on a Pixel 5 (a $300 Swappa refurb).
I flashed pixel experience plus rom on mine and oh boy it looks amaaaazzzing.. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wait til you start having screen burn... Fucking killed the fun of my 7 Pro. It still handles anything you throw at it but I wish I didn't have crazy screen burn in.
The pop up camera is still genius, I love having no cutout at all....
