I MET ERNEST TUBB IN 1959 AT EAGLE LAKE, FIN & FEATHERS CLUB AT VICKSBURG, MISS. UNBELIEVABLE TO SEE THESE TWO SUPERSTARS MERLE HAGGARD & ERNEST TUBB SINGING TOGETHER & I'LL ALWAYS CHERISH THESE VIDEOS. Joe G Bowen
yes u are right Christopher music and having fun I remember back in the day we sing and play and have fun out doors ha I love old time music and the singer back then thanks to you tube rubenn from nl Canada
Even as Ernest got older, his voice was still good. A lot of old country singers don't get lucky like that I don't think. Merle Haggard when I saw him in concert, his voice was deteriorating, and my parents saw George Jones a while back, and they said his voice is doing the same.
Ernest Tubb was the one who stated he had really no talent that he was a old fashion story teller. Mr. Tubb you're a true gentleman an to me there is no one more talented than you. I saw Merle in concert (early 1980's) he was fantastic.
Paul Westmoreland owed a nightclub on the outskirts of Sacramento called the Detour Inn. I saw E.T. play there just a couple of hours. He was at the end of his career and was on his way to Bakersfield to Buck Owen's nightclub. I'm now 72 and seeing him in person was a thrill of my life.
Haha, my Dad who is 84, fondly kidded about ET that he couldn't carry a tune in a tub. He also said he had worn out a lot of boot leather dancing to his tunes. I hope I don;t have to explain that one.
These people are true American heritage. All of this type singers and songs is why America is free. Other countries would benefit by hearing these songs and enterainers, and aan singerss like them
Hag, you look sooo good in this video. So glad I knew you in these days. Wish we could go back ... with Casey Tibbs, The Colonel (Stud Cornell), Willy, Howard Grant, Lil Hogie, all of the old gang. I miss Casey and the Colonel scrapping about the jokes they would play on each other. Miss you Hag, JONI
@muntzmanj154 - E.T. has emphysema when this was filmed. He would leave his oxygen tank back stage or on the bus, then go on stage to perform. This was filmed in '80 or '81 and his last performance was in '82 because his health had deteriorated to the point he could not sing. He passed in '84. I think his illness may have caused some of the unusual head and eye gestures... could be totally wrong though. What a fantastic, legendary, artist.
Back when i was cutting my teeth Ernest Tubb was the rage but he got thrown out of a slop house in San Antonio. Some claimed he was raving drunk and other's said he was singing-i always thougth he was raving drunk singing.
Sorry bud, i went and seen him last june and he hasn't lost a thing. The videos are on the tube to prove it, you are right about Jones tho. Ray price ain't lost a thing tho.
@X0TangoX0 your comment is RUDE ernest was a legend I doubt you are or ever will be, Make you feel better making rude commnets about a sick person?. One day th.e comment may come back to haunt you

That's because Ernest never was a good singer. Don't get me wrong, I love Ernest, but he didn't have a voice George or Merle had.

Country music today is like shit, I can't stand it at all
Who ever said this man could sing???
Yep....all of the smoking and drinking over the years destroyed his voice.
