Okay, but this is ACTUALLY interesting, to see the difference artistic view point of different artists and their creative style and process. THANK YOU Vogue for doing this instead of putting those tiktokers on here again
this!! I will never complain about getting to see Galliano's design process but I hope Vogue does this with some smaller/newer designers, I think it would be good for both!
Goodness, did Vogue actually do a great thing?? This was cool, we would like to see more of this type of videos, right? And Galliano arriving at the beginning was everything
Am I the only person that noticed that Tomo's dress was delivered to John is an Elie Saabs garment bag. And John was like "what is that?, Oh he's got a sense of humor" epic statement
@@mooster742 just odd that a one designer Tomo would send his own garment in another designers (Elie Saab) garment bag. That would be like buying an iPad but it came in Samsung packaging ! Haha
This is so interesting, this is the content we neeeeed, as a fashion student who is studying clothes, its always impressive to see creative genius works and think.
tomo did most of the deconstruction and was super hands-on in remodeling the clothes, while galliano had a whole crew of people and still, both teams did amazing !!!
Yeah, French houses are old fashioned in that regard (that the creative director doesn’t participate in the making). That’s why when Alber Elbaz’ (RIP) took over Lanvin, his process was received with awe and utter shock, because it goes against French tradition for these established houses. There’s a video somewhere showing all of this, I recommend it. Very interesting to see the operations and what happens behind the scenes :)
I hope vogue continues this series. I would love to see a mix different cultures and their interpretations of the same iconic dresses! Don't stop here guys
Tomo Koizumi’s thoughtful references to both the house and the designer while not losing his own clear voice in the outfit are so impressive. This is a great example of genuine respect for your craft and fashion history. This type of collaboration between such top tier designers is super valuable and I love seeing their processes
I thought it’s interesting that Galliano actually did a couple of huge ruffled gowns for his first Dior Couture collection and now they chose to pair him with Tomo Koizumi who’s known for his extravagant ruffle creations!
Genius!!! Galiano transformed that glorious gown into a knitted sweater that really goes well with the recycling and up-cycling theme. That reimagined gown by Tomo is so well done too, the detail and the color.. this is content I can get behind
This was only 13 minutes? wow I felt like I watched a documentary and I want more! Such an interesting idea, I love it! The different ways in which these looks were recycled couldn't have been more different, it was such a great watch. Please, I want so much more of this!!!
love the way john turned it into a ready to wear piece, he really did upcycle it but i also loveeee how tomo made the dress so voluminous. the colors that he used are so pretty and soft. more of these contents please! this is so interesting to watch
Jhon Galliano is such a genius. I will never complain about getting to see Galliano's design process. This is the type of content Vogue needs to upload more, bring back those high fashion golden years!!
This is so beautiful in every way I'm going to cry!!! Watched it for Galliano at first but was surprisingly impressed by Koizumi design. The process is so inspiring and the though behind the designs is pure genius, was such a pleasure to watch!
Actually the media and the fashion industry in the past made the matter much more controversial than it should have been. It's not difficult to understand that people speak crappy things when they're drunk. Of course, John was in a position that could not tolerate the incident so he had to pay a high price for it.
True.. Genius!! Happy to watch a perspective of a genius working on a recycling and upcycling! How he's not trying to showing how different he actually can recreate, but how a galliano would be in Tomo's shoe.. 😍 i felt like he is as galliano, presenting a design and maintaining the tomo's spirit in this recreate.
Love this! These designers are always working behind the scenes and doing such phenomenal peices of art. This is such an interesting way to actually get to know more about them!!
I loved it, but I felt that Galliano didn’t honour the original dress at all and completely took it apart. Koizumi kept the essence of the outfit and made it messy ethereal, which I enjoyed a lot more. Great series!
John using extremely complex English mixed with french fashion pronunciation, Tommo nodding and smiling even though he has no idea what is going on for 60% of the conversation. This video was really special and both artists are so interesting and unique, I hope we can see more of this content!

transforming a wedding dress into knitted one and letting it be worn by couples to reminisce their wedding is so poetic and heartwarming. John Galliano is a genius!!
This is such an amazing video! As an avid sewer, I love taking pieces to transform them but this is at an entirely different level! The way they talk about their process and thinking is so fascinating. I do hope Vogue is able to do more of these types of videos. This was extremely inspiring and makes me want to push the boundaries of my creations of upcycled and recycled garments.

Galliano is such a maestro, but the level of appreciation and excitement that he shows for the younger designer is amazing. It’s very refreshing to an artist at such a high level being respectful without all the ego and diva attitude when dealing with younger artist. Bravo!

I agreee!!! NO MORE TIKTOKERS!!
Tomo Koizumi’s dress is absolutely gorgeous and no one’s talking about it
Seriously amazing! 💖
So lively and energetic
Idk i dont like it
His dress looked 100X better and people definitely should talk about it. I don’t get the hype with the other guy
tbh the upper part looks ugly like unfinished art project but as a whole look it’s stunning!
The final dresses look like they could be in a collection together. This was amazing and happy to see designers getting more recognition
they really do!! even though the silhouettes are so different, i could really see them being in the same collection
it honestly looks like a fusion of Betsy Johnsons fall show with all the petticoats and her Prenup show
john: ugh, so much frills, rid of every last strip of them!
tomo: ugh, no frills? cover every last blank spot in them!
Good summing up!
true balance
I am shocked that vogue is actually uploading a quality content, more of this and less of lil huddy please

Tomo's attention to detail and choice of colors was great to observe.
Tomo's dress is stunning and so fun! The frills make it look like she's floating in on a rainbow cloud!
This is literally the greatest video Vogue has ever released
Couldn’t agree more!
Absolutely true
John Galliano is such a genius! And the way he came in with his HUGE Hermès bag and babushka wrapped around his face ugh I C O N
just fyi, the scarf around his face is not a "babushka" (literally "grandma" in russian). "Platok" is the right word :)
@@AhoKun1 Actually, various dictionaries define it as a kerchief/scarf as well.
Hes such a vibe.
At that part, I was like how can he see? 😂

I dont get the significance of that, is there something between Elie Saabs and John that I'm not aware of?
noticed that one too and i was quite confused, i thought saab was participating at first
i think it was also just a recycling move which is great, too =]
@@mooster742 just odd that a one designer Tomo would send his own garment in another designers (Elie Saab) garment bag. That would be like buying an iPad but it came in Samsung packaging ! Haha
The reuse of the garment bag is also part of the concept of reusing, recycling and upcycling.
