    Not sure why everyone is hating this video, firstly we should be pleased to be getting free help of this kind, & secondly I could follow it perfectly fine, I think she explained it very well and DID show by using the 4 colors the most important parts we need to know, I’m in my 40s, I’ve never done braiding of any type, so if I can ‘get it’ in under 2 mins i can’t see why anyone else is having issues. Thank you so much for the free good help 👍😘😘

      VioletSkye19: Doesn't matter your age, whether you are 40 yo or 100 yo, or if you are Donald Trump, or if you got it done in 30 seconds; this kind of work needs to be explicit visually, especially to the first time doer. This is the kind of skill you need to have clearly explained, and if not, I can understand the frustration. The lady might have explained it perfect to you, but the average watcher got confused and irritated. How about simply trying to record the same work, but with the camera further up? as simple as that. I simply went to another video and got it understood.

    I found this easy to follow after the first braid. Apparently most the people in the comments belong on the short bus? Thanks for showing. Now I can see what this would look like with satin cord as a pendant necklace.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 лет назад +3

    It will vary with the exact cord you're using and with your tension, but I've found that I lose about half my length in this braid. So to start with, try a little more than double your finished length.

  • @karenchervier9420
    @karenchervier9420 6 лет назад +4

    It is very simple, the camera should be aiming at the work from the top, perpendicular to the work in process. From a side, especially with the hands partially covering some of the steps is very confusing to the eyes, trying to follow the movements. The end result is perfect and the hands are nice looking, but I kind of ''lost the thread'' too because of the angle from which the camera was aiming.

    Gorgeous braid. Meant only as a rid-bit of constructive criticism, I will convey that describing as an move UNDER the middle two strands with subsequent move OVER between them would more correctly describe this movement. Also, in explaining the importance of bring each piece into place, the wording might be best understood by describing it as keeping it FLUSH. Again, a beautiful braid and one I am anxious to try. Thank you!!

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 лет назад

    Make your braid a little longer than you need it to be. Then, when you're done, tightly wrap a piece of tape around the end while you hold it together. The tape should be right above where the braiding stops, so that it has a nice round, braided piece within the taped part. Then, use a pair of flush cutters to cut across the taped part, leaving enough tape to hold the ends together, but a short enough piece that the tape will be hidden by the cord end.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 лет назад

    I use E6000 to attach cord ends to braided and knotted projects.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 лет назад

    You could make this braid with round cord, but it will look different. It would not have flat, rounded sides, but would be kind of bumpy.

  • @beadaholique
    @beadaholique  11 лет назад +2

    Feel free to experiment with different types of cord. Keep in mind that it will not keep it's flat sides if you use a round cord instead of a flat cord.

    Wow, I don't get all of the griping. I can see just fine what you're doing. Yeah, your hands cover the work at times, but after each step you move your hands and the step becomes visible.
    Really like the look of the demo color combo used. TFS the colors.
    Suppose this would work with a narrow grosgrain ribbon?
    How do you calculate how much lacing to use for a specific finished braided link? Don't remember you saying how much you used for the necklace or for the demo piece. Please advise.

I want to gauge how much I should cut for each strand to fit a certain length of the final product. • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  5 лет назад

      For this tutorial, we cut a random length for demonstration. Generally, you want to add 1-2 inches to your desired length for each strand. This will help with the knots at each end. Although we do not have a tutorial on it, you could potentially braid the 4 cords around a 5th cord that goes down the center. Thank you.

  • @beadaholique

    The faux suede does not have a rough side, no. I'm not sure how you'd attach a snap to this sort of braid. I'm also not sure that you'd want to use it for a dog leash, it may not be strong enough.

      EowyntheFair88 The necklace I show as an example in the video is the Talia Necklace, and there's a link to the instructions for it in the video description. The instructions list all of the materials I used, including the end caps. I can't guarantee that it will fit exactly the same if you use a different cord. I haven't tried to make a braid like that with three colors, I would suggest doing some experimenting with the placement to see how it comes out. You can always take it apart and try again.
