Listen to Sultans of Swing from Alchemy album live. It is much longer. There are superb guitar solos and the drummer is out of this world. This version is not 1/10th as good. You owe it to yourself to listen to the Alchemy Live version of this song. Mark Knoffler is one of the greatest song creators of our lifetime. When Prince was asked in an interview how does it feel to be the greatest guitar player in the world he answered "I wouldn't know. Ask Mark Knoffler." This is one of the greatest musically advanced bands you will ever experience. Well worth a deep dive into everything they ever produced. You will be better for the experience.
To get an idea of what Dire Straits is capable of check out this same song Under Alchemy live version and Mark Knopfler is one of the greatest Guitar Pickin finger picking dudes you've ever seen man the whole band goes off for about I don't know 10 or 12 minutes to drummers on top everybody's on top of their game and it's awesome
They were busted broke and played to a room of around three people and gave it their all. Inspiration for this song came from the hard struggle they had to make it. ❤
Mark Knopfler has never figured out how to make bad music. The only bad songs are the ones you haven't heard yet. And the Alchemy live version of this is truly epic as was the entire album. Enjoy, it's a great ride and a near 5 decade catalog to explore.

Great reaction, Fabian! There is a magnificent final solo, different from the excellent mid-solo, which this particular video has completely cut out, which is a real heresy to do so. They did a live show (Alchemy) with a very different extended version, which is a masterpiece. For some, Mark is one of the top 10 best guitarists of all time.
