So glad to “hear” you say this. So many people are obsessed with making their own glass cleaner, when plain water is generally the best, especially on mirrors.
That is untrue in regards to getting streaks with cleaning products. Fact, glass actually has pours and when you don't get all the grease, grime, dust and dirt out of those pours, that is what creates the streaking you see. If you want a "transparent clean" use a foaming glass cleaner, misting it very lightly and use a microfiber cloth made specifically for glass and spread to evaporation in the "S" pattern from top to bottom.

Dear Angela. Please make a video on how we can clean the grout inside our homes. Btw you are doing an amazing job by making these videos. More power to you. Cheers
Your video had very good info. I would like to comment on your choice of wiping materials ie coffee filters, newspapers, paper towels etc. As I understand, your reluctance in using newspaper was due to the fact that they are more scarce now than in the past. If you have a source, that would not be an issue. I've used newspapers for window cleaning for many years and I've experienced no better wiping material. Just be sure to use the actual newspaper itself and not any glossy inserts. Newsprint ink actually has a small amount of abrasive added to it helping to polish glass.
ive had a window cleaning biz since 1985 in Honolulu. best way I tell my customers. used dish soap water ,get a small rag ring out excess water wipe window ,let window dry and get a beach town wipe window and you wont have any streaks her way is a long slow process.
Your way works as well. Thanks for sharing. The reason we use this method is as professional house cleaners we do not carry dish soap water or beach towels with us. We don't clean windows so we don't carry squeegees and buckets of water. The tools we have available to us to clean an occasional item of class or a mirror are these cloths and this is the process for 99% of the cleaning we will do with glass and mirrors.
Hey Angela, we’re window twins! We also have 55 windows. High 5!!! I was ready to give you my secret weapon for cleaning them, but you already knew it so I’ll just contribute to your algorithm instead. 😂 Discovered it during the paper towel shortage last year, but I’ve never heard of drying cloths. If anybody else said you only needed water to clean windows I’d have unsubscribed, but you’ve never steered me wrong so I’m gonna give it a go. ☺️ Those microfiber cloths are great for cleaning so many things! Kitchen appliances and countertops are so much easier to clean with those cloths too. Hope you have a great weekend!
Hey Audrey, High five for being my twin! I should clarify - cleaning glass, mirrors and windows is an inside job. You will need soap suds and a pressure washer if you're cleaning 55 windows and on the outside of your home. I didn't make that very clear. I'm sorry about that. Do you know how many cloths that would take if you just used damp cloths on outside windows? 😱😂😜
Great tip on the drying cloth, I’ve never see n them. My favorite product to use on glass and windows is dishwasher detergent, unlike window cleaners I never have streaks!
Angela Brown A good friend has a building maintenance (Windows) business and gave me the tip. I wish I had exact measurements but I don’t, it’s a couple of smaller globs of dishwasher detergent ( doesn’t take much at all) to a gallon of water. Since there are no suds, there are no streaks. I have a black glass gas stove and it drove me insane till she gave me this tip. Now I use it on windows, mirrors, anything that would show streaks, cuts grease and grime like nothing else.
Angela Brown Forgot to say I use a clean cleaning cloth, usually one of my husbands old soft tshirts, I don’t use any softeners or dryer sheets for my cleaning cloths.
Right On Time! My glass is...speechless. neglected. Every video I can't help but imagine just how much cleaning you've gotten done since the last video? This week is all about getting some sparkle back at my house starting Tuesday. I'm disappointed microfiber is recycled plastic? Who knew?
The earth only has so many resources. I love the fact they are using recycled materials. There are a few outlets who are recycling microfiber cloths as stuffing for furniture. Creativity at it's finest. :-)
I was getting tired of the amount of paper towels I was using from both a landfill and financial standpoint. What a waste. Literally. So about 8 months ago I quit buying paper towels. I invested in microfiber towels and different e-clothes. I now use them exclusively for absolutely all my cleaning. With most of my cleaning now being done with just plain water, instead of chemicals. Considering how many paper towels I was going through, as well as various chemicals, both the microfiber towels and e-clothes have proven to be a good investment.
Thank you love bug! Worked great! My mirrors finally look good and I've always struggled to get them to look really clean and streak free! Appreciate you❤️
I had a mirror that had gotten some kind of oily residue on it. I tried to clean it with everything I could find, window cleaners, vinegar, microfiber towel, even a rubber squeegee, you name it, nothing would remove all the oil and it left the mirror with a sort of smeary haze on it. I finally tried cleaning it with a steam cleaner and BOOM! it worked instantly. Took me maybe 2 minutes total. So, when nothing else will do it, try steam, it is amazing!
My previous landlady works as a house cleaner and she swears by those Norwex silver-infused microfiber cloths as the wetting cloth, and the Norwex glass cloth to dry/polish glass and mirrors. I bought 2 pairs and used them to clean greasy hand prints from glass doors on a window cleaning job I was doing. Gotta say I'm impressed by this method. I even use them on car windows if I'm detailing. Sadly, the Norwex are pretty expensive, but I searched online and found cheaper alternatives to the silver-infused cloth....sweet!
I like the idea of the cloths but I have found when doing exterior windows or extremely dusty or dirty glass you need a rag that’s used to get the heavy dirt off. That rag gets quite dirty fast so I carry a bucket of water to rinse it in and reuse. Or a cloth squeegee can be used. Then I can use the wetting rag method. Otherwise my wetting rag becomes caked with dirt too fast. With that said I’m talking about washing pretty dirty windows. Not mirrors!!
Haha :) i so LOVE your description of paper towels!! Ive always said that “paper towels are my nemesis” and have to buy them bc i’m an adult, but i always think of cloth towels primarily. Thanks for the microfiber talk!
I wash windows with a little dish soap in distilled water. I dry the inside windows with a squeegee and microfiber towel. After washing I spray distilled water on outside windows and let them airdry.
YES! Now you're thinking. The same rules apply to cleaning the shower. When it's steamy and everything is lose - that's when you want to squeegee the walls and glass down. BAM! You're clean, your bathroom is clean - it's a great morning routine. Thanks for bringing this up. 👍
Ohhhhh! The WETTING cloth! I kept hearing “wedding” cloth! 😂 (I assumed with “wedding” cloth it was like, the first cloth you used or something.... lol no idea 😂)
I use rags( my rags are old dish towels or hand towels that have been washed so many times that there isnt any lint). I buy the really thin face cloths that come in a ten pack in different colors for different jobs. I use a face cloth to wash and the hand towel to dry the glass.
Thanks Angela, very informative video and simple technique that I will try out now on all my mirrors and windows. You just saved me spending on detergents etc. also saved me time watching other RUclips videos on this subject 👌🏼 I would love to live in your house I bet it’s well clean 😁
I do not like the feel of microfibre cloths either Kathleen but I put on nice hand cream and my cotton gloves. I then put my washing up gloves on and clean away! You have the bonus of soft well cared for hands as well. God bless.
Yes, microfiber towels feel awful in my hand, like putting my hands in very dry soil. But, I might have to get over it. The drying cloths aren't so bad, maybe.
My question to you is, do you ever get any dislikes? I am happy to not see dislikes anymore, never saw the point in it for most posts, if you don't like the video move on. Yoooooo. Hi from Australia. So, I have been watching glass cleaning RUclips vids for about 3 weeks trying to work out if there IS actually a streak free method. I have copied to the letter so many different methods, I pretty much had to take a 2nd mortgage on my house to pay for the various cleaning sprays, tools, gloves, clays, razor blades, and sweet Jesus the list goes on. This has become an unhealthy obsession now. My therapist said I should get a hobby but all I could do was point out the streaks on her office windows. Clearly she is not a very good therapist because it's 3.20am here now and I am sitting beside my car once again staring at streaks on my windscreen. I am beginning to think I am in some kind of Truman show and streak free glass is just a myth the producers concocted because they knew it could so easily push me over the edge. Can you imagine I have never once in my life had a totally streak free windscreen to gaze through? I have done so much research that I am considering writing a book about how to get the perfect non streak free windscreen. I even went to the local Specsavers store and asked them to order me 5000 boxes of those tiny glasses cleaning spray bottles. They said I was crazy and need therapy. My therapist told me I left out a zero on my last cheque and that I should go to Specsavers. Clearly they are in cahoots! Yours is the final method I will try. If this does not work I am going to remove my windscreen and drive without one and have the fresh air in my face wherever I go. I almost can't wait for the wind to be blowing my hair back and people mistaking me for Fabio as I coast to work finally free of this torture, this obsession, this permanent semi high I now find myself in from inhaling copious amounts of chemicals. Ugh. It is now 3.48am. Soon I must leave for work. But first. Your method. I read through the comments section. People say you are the Messiah. I hope they are right. Ok. I must begin. Have a wonderful day! Oh. Wait. I just remembered why I began this note. Did you say you used just water, nothing more? Plain, simple, free, H2O? Ok, let me know. In the next 1 or 2 minutes if possible. It is the holiday season here and the carnival is in town. Against my therapist's advice I managed to secure a position as the head cleaner in The Hall of Mirrors. What would she know anyway? That quack is worse than the charlatons who are now my temporary employer. Wish me luck! Really? Just water?
I just have a question, I’ve been watching videos on cleaning glass shower doors using steel wool fine grit 0000 “ what’s your opinion? Your my ‘favorite cleaner ‘
Steel wool fine grit 000 can be safe on some shower glass doors - but the key is to know what type of glass you are scrubbing, and the type of soil you are trying to remove. In most cases, the shower gunk is soap scum and that can be removed with a degreaser (think dish soap) and a non-scratch scrub sponge.
Be sure to wash the micro fiber towels correctly, heat is there enemy. Wash them separately from other clothes, use a good free and clear detergent, use warm water, air or tumble dry (no heat)! Also if the micros are very dirty your can add like a 1/4 cup of vinegar (in either the bleach/or softener slot) and be sure to do, if you can an extra rinse. Never use regular detergent, fabric softener to micros and again warmish ..stay away from heat. This is coming form an ex auto detailer ..care for your tools....and the enviro around us.
When you say no heat, but warm, what does that mean exactly? When you say no regular detergent but free detergent, what does that mean? Thank you very much.
@@TheCelestialhealer I Googled the question about the detergent. "All Free Clear is a liquid laundry detergent that is free of fragrance, dyes, and harsh chemicals."
Yes, 55 windows! Imagine cleaning all of them! One of the girls on my staff counted her windows and she has 50 windows, not including the glass doors. 😮 So I'm not the only one with lots of windows. Thanks for watching. 😊
Thank you for the advice, Angela. I have a whole batch of microfiber towels I bought on QVC. However, I have a home with four dogs, two of which are German Shepherds. My windows, not to mention walls take beating from the dust from their coats. So if I use just water, I get nothing but streaks. I found a product, Bio Cleaner, that I use on virtually everything and it works equally as well on the windows. Cuts through dust, film, dirt, -- and it's eco friendly -- just a tip.
I'd say that "dusting and wiping windows" generally refers to cleaning the window surfaces and frames, but it doesn't usually include thorough window washing, which is cleaning the glass inside and out. I suggest making sure you and your client are on the same page about this so everyone's happy in the end👍

Dear Angela. Please make a video on how we can clean the grout inside our homes. Btw you are doing an amazing job by making these videos. More power to you. Cheers
Thank you so much for your feedback and suggestion, I appreciate! I will add it to my queue.
Thanks for watching the show : )
Dear Angela I just found your channel today and I just love it 😍
Thank you so much for reaching out to let me know you like my channel. 😊
ive had a window cleaning biz since 1985 in Honolulu. best way I tell my customers. used dish soap water ,get a small rag ring out excess water wipe window ,let window dry and get a beach town wipe window and you wont have any streaks her way is a long slow process.
I really loved all of your videos you're an Excellent Teacher. I am learning alot watching your RUclips channels.
I'm so happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!😊
I’m going stitch all the wedding cloths together to make a wedding dress, I’ll look like a patchwork doll 😂
So this method won't work on the outside of the windows? Why not?
@@AskAngelaBrown
Yes they are
I have a store with some mirrors and this is exactly what i needed. Thanks ❤️
You’re welcome 😊 Glad I could help.
Bon-ami is my favorite glass cleaner , plus it's a pretty good all around cleaner , but it's spot on for glass.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Great tip on the drying cloth, I’ve never see n them. My favorite product to use on glass and windows is dishwasher detergent, unlike window cleaners I never have streaks!
??? How do you use it? Do you dilute it in a spray bottle? And what do you use to dry the glass with? I'm curious now. ;-)
I used a glass cleaner that claimed it would not leave streaks, but it left terrible streaks.
Hi Angela . I have a cleaning business and love my job. I too use the glass cleaning cloths and nothing else. I only use peer towel for the toilets.
I'm so glad to hear that. Thanks for sharing. 😊
@Angela Brown Cleaning. Such a wonderful channel Angela. May God bless you abundantly.❤️🙏~Dana.
Thank you so much! I wish the same for you. 🙏❤
Library’s are where you can ask for newspapers set for the recycle bin. I got 3 grocery bags full for free!!
Great tip, thank you for sharing!
OMG what an absolutely brilliant video. So logical, thoughtful, useful. Many, many thanks. I will now share this video.
😊Thank you so much! So great you found it helpful!
Hooray! It's true, once your place is clean, you can maintain it with water and washable cloths. Who knew right?
Thank you love bug! Worked great! My mirrors finally look good and I've always struggled to get them to look really clean and streak free! Appreciate you❤️
Yay! I'm so happy to hear this, thanks for checking in. :-)
Thank you for explaining WHY to wet and dry in a Z pattern. Makes sense, so I'll remember. Now that I'm 54. Like decades too late!
It's never too late! You got this Michelle! We all learn something new each day.
I'm from India your videos all very useful for start up business
Hooray! I'm so happy to hear this and so glad you've joined me here. Thanks for dropping by.
I think I no need training because if I watch all of your videos I'll become a master
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for your eco-friendly approach
You bet! Thanks for watching!
My grandma use to use vinegar and newspaper....used egg white as glue to piece together broken cups etc....she had so many clever ideas...lol.
LOL. It sounds like you had a very resourceful grandma. 💛
Thank you for the info, 😊 I have avoided the microfiber just because they look too good to be true. Can’t wait to go get some.
Let me how you like them, I think you'll be very happy! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful voice. Makes for easy understanding
Thank you so much!
Always so informative! Been smashing through so many of your videos and learning so much! Thanks Angela!
Happy to help!😊
Print ink bleeds when wet. I made that mistake once. I use windex, a squeegee, and a chaser cloth to get the lines polished out and it works great.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing. 👍
We’re about to put a house on the market and I’ve decided to clean it myself, the mirrors were killing me lol thank you for this video
You're welcome! Let us know how it goes! 😀
I have a love hate relationship with microfiber cloths. They stick to my fingers but work fabulously!
YES, I agree. For this reason we use them when wearing gloves for the most part.
The technology really works. Lots of professional cleaners swear by it. Thanks for sharing. :-)
You're correct, exterior window washing requires a different set of tools for a different type of soil being cleaned. Thanks for the tip. :-)
Use a scrim cloth get them off internet make sure it's been boiled treated
Haha :) i so LOVE your description of paper towels!! Ive always said that “paper towels are my nemesis” and have to buy them bc i’m an adult, but i always think of cloth towels primarily. Thanks for the microfiber talk!
Hahaha...that's great! Thanks for watching!
Warm water with a splash of vinegar and crumpled newspaper. To dry just use a cloth.
This also works. Are you still receiving newspapers?
I wash windows with a little dish soap in distilled water. I dry the inside windows with a squeegee and microfiber towel. After washing I spray distilled water on outside windows and let them airdry.
Thanks for sharing your cleaning tip!
For the bathroom, could I save time on wetting the mirror by cleaning it right after the shower when its foggy, and just use the drying cloth?
(I assumed with “wedding” cloth it was like, the first cloth you used or something.... lol no idea 😂)
LOL. ;-)
RD Angie aka angelang83 😀you are so funny
Had I not seen your comment first, I'd have thought that too. 😊
Wow 55 windows in your own home! I would love all that natural light and space!!!
Yes, it is delightful (until it's time to clean them. LOL)
I use rags( my rags are old dish towels or hand towels that have been washed so many times that there isnt any lint). I buy the really thin face cloths that come in a ten pack in different colors for different jobs. I use a face cloth to wash and the hand towel to dry the glass.
Great tip...thanks for sharing!!
4:53 This is what we were waiting for
👍
Thanks Angela, very informative video and simple technique that I will try out now on all my mirrors and windows. You just saved me spending on detergents etc. also saved me time watching other RUclips videos on this subject 👌🏼
I would love to live in your house I bet it’s well clean 😁
+MJ Patrick thanks so much for your kind words. You just made my day. My house is clean only because I clean it on camera. Ha ha. 🥳🎉😜
Remember the hairdresses hair never looks nice & the mecanic's car is always faulty.😅
There are two things in this world that give me the shivers when I touch them; one is a cotton ball and the other is a microfiber cloth. LOL
LOL. If that is the worst of your problems Kathleen, I suspect you'll be okay. Thanks for the levity. :-)
I do not like the feel of microfibre cloths either Kathleen but I put on nice hand cream and my cotton gloves. I then put my washing up gloves on and clean away! You have the bonus of soft well cared for hands as well. God bless.
@@veemcg3682 how very kind of you to share this great idea, thank you!
Yes, microfiber towels feel awful in my hand, like putting my hands in very dry soil. But, I might have to get over it.
The drying cloths aren't so bad, maybe.
I don't like how microfiber cloths feel, either. For my liking.... don't absorb.
In Burlington Ontario Canada we have a green bin for all of our paper towels. And food waste And other things
Thanks for sharing!
🎉🎉so amazing videos thanks for informative videos God bless you n take care🎉🎉
My pleasure, glad you like them!
I’ve been using this method for over a year now and my mirrors are dust free longer and don’t fog up during my shower
Woot Woot! I love stories like this. Thanks for sharing and for taking the time to drop me a line. 👍
I hope that when my high wears off I can understand this video.

@@AskAngelaBrown Yes I am a new subscriber 🥰. Nice to meet you Angela.
My question to you is, do you ever get any dislikes? I am happy to not see dislikes anymore, never saw the point in it for most posts, if you don't like the video move on. Just curious because i can't imagine anyone couldn't like your videos. You have every bit of information that anyone could possibly want if they need to clean something. Anyhow, thank you!
To tell you the truth, I have had plenty of dislikes and plenty of nasty/mean comments. But thank you for your kind words and support, I appreciate it! 😊
Highly recommend Norwegian glass cleaning and polishing cloth. Use water only. Great!
Thanks Cathy for the tip. It's true you can use the right cloth and a pinch of water and your glass will sparkle.
Always have the best cleaning hacks, thank YOU!
Thank you so much! Glad you like them!
@@AskAngelaBrown Used the micro cloths today to clean our 41 windows...my husband and I...it took a 1/4 of the time that using newspapers always took us to complete the job, and much better results. My husband was very impressed. TY...I love your video's.
This video is educational to me thank you
Glad it was informative, thanks for watching.
Here in Croatia we have preatty afordable prices of wetting and drying clothes.... sometimes they come together with some other clothes also.... i used tge drying cloth for glass but i sometimes used it just with spray, also sometimes just a bit wet, but thank you for your advices, i think it will be more helpfull...
Ps: drying cloth ive seen comes in yellow :)
That's great! Thank you for sharing this information.
In Scotland we still have many news papers .but I will follow your instructions from now ..
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Ooh I have a blue drying cloth exactly like yours but I also have a green one 😁 apart from the colour it's exactly like the blue x
Oh cool, love it! Thank you for taking the time to comment and for watching the video.
Who knew about the wetting cloth wow, 😊 thanks
Wet and dry - easy peasy. (Unless there is a lot of toothpaste, or makeup foundation on the mirror, then it may require a spray.)
Thank you, Angela! 🤓
You're welcome Joseph! Thanks for watching!
Really? Just water?
rotflmbo!!!
I’d love to know how things went with the Hall of Mirrors.
So clever 👏 thanks so much 👍 God bless
Thank you for the kind words. God bless you as well. 🙏
This is great! Thank you for sharing your tips!
Really good. Thank you. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks for watching!
I use antibacterial dawn and Scott’s sponge them soft scrub on my shower pan area.

55 windows?! There's only 12 windows in my house, 13 if count sliding doors! Hehe
Great video as always! Thank you.
She must mean each glass. Two pieces of glass in a window, for example . I have 14, and most of those 14 are two pieces of glass next to each other.
Yes, 55 windows! Imagine cleaning all of them! One of the girls on my staff counted her windows and she has 50 windows, not including the glass doors. 😮 So I'm not the only one with lots of windows. Thanks for watching. 😊
Not counting each glass, but I would rather clean 14 instead of 55.
@@AskAngelaBrown That's just insane! My client with the most windows tops up at 24/25 windows. Luckily, their windows keep clean!
Thank you for sharing your tip and thanks for watching. 🙂
I'm not using newspapers anymore. Thanks for your tips
Thank you for watching! 🙂
Thanks! I have written in my service agreement as Dust and Wipe Windows. Is it the same as Window cleaning?
I'd say that "dusting and wiping windows" generally refers to cleaning the window surfaces and frames, but it doesn't usually include thorough window washing, which is cleaning the glass inside and out. I suggest making sure you and your client are on the same page about this so everyone's happy in the end👍
