I think it's a pitty and extremely weird how ppl associate a movie having comedic moments with it being "bad" nowadays. That simply makes no sense, it's just sheer stupidity.
the director said its not a comedy, they just added most of the jokes to the trailer to appeal to the general audience, like they did with tmnt mutant mayhem and spiderverse
The most tragic stories are those who had a hopeful beginning. Two brothers joined in spirit and soul , drift apart to become sworn arch nemesis who are at each other's throats. Just like Anakin's and Obi Wan's story , we had comedy and a monumental tragedy.
It looks like bit will be building up to an emotional betrayal of the sorts, I could see by the end of the movie and Cybertron is saved by the four main bots the High Council will be grateful to Orion Pax and D-16 and will hear them both out. It will transpire like it did in Prime in where Megatronus demanded change through force when Orion seeks it through peace, the council appeal more to his argument and name his as the next Prime. This of course would anger Megatronus/D-16 and will begin to resent Pax, this would forever have them against each other end forming the Autobots and Decepticons.
I've said this once before but I'll repeat it one last time: "We will never have a good enough Transformers movie until we can get a scene where two Cybertronians sit across from each other and talk about something other than humans or the mission". And guess what?
@@asom.overlordthey were standing... And even then... We just needed a scene where they were just talking... Just a conversation... Not about the past... Not about the future... Just a conversation of about what's happening in the here and now...
How To Train Your Dragon had trailers that played up the comedy and hid the serous elements and that film, did well so hopefully the same will happen here.
This! So many of us are sorta done with Hollywood becasue everything is a "summer bro-down, humor fest" now. They start with that the first promo, and naturally loads of us are gonna roll our eyes hard enough to generate an Earth ending plasma tornado.
I could see it being a lot like Prince of Egypt** (thank you Camden for pointing out the error lmao) where it’s more light-hearted while Ramesses and Moses were friends and then it gets darker as they grow apart.
I'm not sure how true it is but I think this is supposed to be the first of 3 movies, so I feel like that'll probably be how it goes if that's the case
The same thing happened with both Into the Spider-Verse, and The Last Wish Two movies who are both critically and financially successful had marketing that focused more on the comedic elements
I mean transformers is a kids brand so having the comedy parts in the trailer could be more appealing to a wider range of ages. People also want this to be dark and there probably will be a few dark scenes but this is pre war before the horrific war parts kick in
Do you even remember the first Spider-verse teaser trailer? There was no comedy in that one. And Last Wish is part of the Shrek franchise, of course there will be comedy.
I call this supergenre Graphic Film. That refers to feature animation designed with metatextual layers to convey the story in multiple levels. For instance, SpiderVerse and TMNT model it's visuals on the logic of a comic book, and give you a sense of it's world and logic thusly. Arcane and Last Wish are modeled after paintings. Transformers One is modeled after old CGI graphics. It's in no way trying to copy them and thus won't be limited, but they convey a cybertronic feel to the entire world of this story with a feeling of prerendered graphics, vector geometry, light and shadow in literal raytracing instead of smoky purple. There's an uncanniness to the faces with chunky geometry and fully 3d eyes with glass textures and lights. It is clearly modern animation but it's modern animation that celebrated the history of CGI as a young art form. Definitely go check out history of CGI art to see some cool aesthetic things.
The tone of the trailer is jokey and very Guardians-esque. If we remember from Guardians 3, there were some very serious, unfunny moments in that film. Editing of the trailer has everything to do with it. The sequence where they first transform and Optimus "loses" his head, Megatron sounds confused, Bumblebee can't find his wheels etc... those could all be spaced out over five minutes of a chase sequence, but they hit within 5-10 seconds in the trailer. So naturally it will seem like a laugh-a-second film.
I'm one of the people that hated Guardians 3 but loved the first 2, so this doesn't sway me. Those serious moments had little buildup and weren't earned.
People freaking out claiming it's gonna be a comedy without realizing it's the *prequal* to what we know today. How did it not pass their minds that we're literally supposed to witness the birth of a Warlord and the destruction of Pax and D.16's friendship into a lifelong rivalry? Im excited for this
People freaking out that peoples first impressions are poor without realising that the trailer i terrible at conveying information. Its not our fault its the trailer
Also if the movie is extremely comedic it’s going to be extremely weird when things get serious how am I supposed to believe that a brutal war is going to break out
Cause g1 and prime told the origins in a serious dark way it wasn't guardians of the galaxy but we see megatron kill off orion and his girlfriend and the other showed megatronus the gladiator and orion the librarian
Does this really look like a movie that will have any sort of real balls? Do you really think we’re going to get a maniacal Revolutionist out of this megatron? Do you really think there’s going to be ANY SUBSTANCE at all to the idealogical war that Prime and Megs have. Because “BadassAtron” does not inspire an ounce of hope for an actual monster of a villian
In my opinion, this movie is exactly what Transformers needs right now to redeem the Cybertronian characters as a whole in the eyes of the public. As it currently stands, most people who aren't avid fans think of the Cybertronians as either veiled-commercial-kids-show-protagonists (what they started out as in G1 and continue to be in various degrees across the different show) or characters that primarily exist to shoehorn in senseless CGI action and carnage (what they were in Bayverse and what they failed to fully differentiate from in ROTB). So I'm hopeful that this movie will be enough to show the general public how the Transformers have evolved in themes and characterization.
To those people I would say watch Bumblebee if they haven't. That movie proves you can make a great TF movie that has the right dose of everything a TF movie needs.
Don't make up stuff abt ROTB, please. In ROTB, the TFs characters actually _feel_ like proper characters, despite not everyone having particularly alot of screentime. Also, I love ROTB alot for so many reasons, some of which are the fact that it does justice for the characters & story, has good action, & actually _feels_ like a TFs story. BBM & ROTB are 2 of my fav movies cuz of this. ROTB is an easy 8-9/10 movie that could've easily been a 12/10 movie if it was longer; maybe by 20, more or less, minutes.
@@FennekinTF ROTB was decent in my opinion. Had they not made it a world ending scenario and screwed up Wheeljack, I would have like it better. I don't think it was a good idea to bring in Beast Wars characters already when Bumblebee was decided on being a reboot of the franchise. And adding Pete Davidson to the cast was pointless. He's basically playing himself. Still, it was much better than the Michael Bay movies.
@@sidearmsalpha Thats not Wheeljack. That's Pablo, Wheeljack's cousin, apprentice, or both. If you watch the movie with the perspective/thought that thats a new character, he's more enjoyable. Also, Pete did an amazing job as Mirage! & having Unicron & the Maximals is fine; for one thing, it introduces Unicron to a wider audience, & to the [reboot] universe, so once he does return, everyone will be on the same page. Also, Imo Unicron & the Terrorcons were handled really well. Unicron doesn't have to be in TF3 or 4 or whatever. He could just be introduced in TF2/ROTB, then return in like, Idk, TF6, or something. Y'know what I mean? & the Maximals were handled really well, but I do wish that Cheetor & Rhinox, specifically had more screentime. I'd say ROTB is super close to perfect, but not quite there. The characters & story are really good & well-done, & the action is great. Imo, BBM is a 9.8/10 & ROTB 8-9/10. Also, both BBM & ROTB feel like Transformers stories, through & through.
To me, TFOne seems like a bigger-budget version of Animated, Earthspark or Cyberverse. It seems cute and family friendly on the outside, but once you experience it for yourself, you'll find some surprisingly mature writing within.
Hopefully. I definitely wrote off Earthspark at first (I'm still not a fan of the art style), and while I still haven't watched it, I did watch a clip of that one scene of Starscream and Megatron, where Megatron asks him to come with him to which he replies "Nowhere is safe if it's with you." As we know, Megatron often puts Starscream through abuse in many Transformers stories. Sometimes merited, sometimes not. It was nice to finally see a direct callout to that absuse in a show. I certainly did not expect Earthspark to be the show that would do that.
@@roguescorner9042 You should definitely give EarthSpark a chance! If you're not the biggest fan of the artstyle, ok, but if you look past that I think you'll enjoy it! Warning: Twitch is too adorable to the point that you'd want to protect her at all costs, same goes for her sibs! Also, Season 1 has a good start, but as the episodes go, it gets better and better.
First half is gonna have a lot of comedy to endear you to the characters, then there’ll be a tonal shift after the second act where they turn on each other and things get pretty serious by the end. Like it’s really obvious
Now let’s see if it’s executed probably because what I see is a goofy kids movie that’s gonna try and pull a 180 to be serious,I’m sorry but that’s not how you do a tonal shift it’s too drastic and will probably come off forced
I sure hope that when Honest Trailers does a video on this movie that they don't make a joke about Orion Pax 'being a dumb name'. That would be embarrassing. For them.
@@Dread_2137 True. The only names I can think of that are actually good & cool that include numbers, are Elita-1, B-127......& that might be it. B-127 is fine, but its good that he now got a real name, Bumblebee & nickname, Bee. Honestly, I don't think its weird for Optimus to keep calling him Bee in ROTB, cuz for some ppl, they like to be referred to as their nickname, or some close friends or family will call them their nickname more than their actual name. It would've made more sense/more natural if Optimus called him Bumblebee at least once in the movie, but its fine. & Elita-1 is her name, its cool & good, but her nickname or "real" name is more-so just Elita. & technically D-16 is good, too, but I like Megatron/Megatronus for him, personally. Huh, what if Megs's name is actually still Megatronus, but 'Megatron' is his nickname? & 'Megs' is his even shorter nickname? lol I think Megs prefers Megatron over D-16, honestly. It sounds cooler & I think Megs would want a cool name.
@@sci-fi.tsunamibut the situation with that movie is entirely different. The Cybertron Battle in the Bumblebee Movie is suppose to setup how Bumblebee himself on how and why he needs to go to Earth. This movie is about how two brothers whose different ideologies started the war. As the saying goes, ‘calm before the storm’ and that’s what’s happening the beginning of the trailer.
@@sci-fi.tsunami No. Not everything needs to be like the WFC/FOC Games or the BBM Cybertron scene. I love BBM, too, but not everything needs to be the same. No! Bad! Bad boy! No! TF: One actually has ALOT of potential; the animation is INSANE, the jokes [in the trailer] land most of the time, & the movie will be alot more serious when it needs to. & don't forget the VAs; they're doing great!
The complaint that it’s too kid friendly is kind of ridiculous. G1 wasn’t targeted toward middle aged men. It was for us when we were KIDS! Yes, it grew up with us as we got older but ultimately Transformers was, from day 1, for kids.
@@P.90.603 Exactly! My two sons love Transformers and I’ve got the insignias tattooed on me. It’s kind of a big deal for us lol! My kids will grow up and pass it on to their kids and so on. I’d rather see Transformers thrive and survive than only cater to an older disgruntled audience. We can still go watch the ones we prefer. No one is stopping that.
@meekstud yeah and then those kids will have kids and get there kids into transformers and there kids will have kids get there kids into transformers the endless monopoly !!!!!!
Go back and watch the 86 animated movie, it had a serious tone and all those shows back then also worked in a moral to the story for the kids. Everything has to be slapstick now because these modern writers don’t know how to write good characters or stories and the only “moral” they write in is their own political agendas.
@@MaddJakd it's a film basically produced by Hollywood, it's expected and has been there for almost every single transformers movie in existence, and that includes bayverse bcuz ik damn well we all saw and heard what ratchets first lines to Sam were. It's not like it's a film produced by studios that produce indie films or something or idk the dudes that made south park, the movie itself isn't about humor, if it was about humor then that's when we can complain about the jokes but the jokes are simply there to show a group of friends having a good time before the inevitable
@@bizzybezz940 that doesn't make it any less tiring. It's basic af. The issue with Hollywood. Incapable of proper evolution, yet wondering why their box office isn't a slam dunk 10 out of 10 times as opposed to lightning in a bottle now.
@@MaddJakd I ain't even gonna lie, the humor isn't as bad as it normally is, definitely not as bad and weird as bayverse, and since they're also trying to target this towards kids as well I can see kids finding this aittke goofy, I'm guilty enough to laugh at some bits, but maybe if this was targets for specifically an older audience and not just for everyone then I could see why the humor would get tiring
I feel ya, TF One is a welcomed change in my books. And i hope things have gotten better for you lately, or are at least beginning to look up. I mean it ♡
Well said man. I think people can just have the tendency to see all the bad and none of the good sometimes, but I feel like a large portion of this community is an exception to that, and often really open to change with the franchise.
People gotta realize 2 things. Number 1, Transformers is first and foremost a kids franchise, they got to get kids excited for the movie by having funny stuff in the first trailer to get them and parents interested. Number 2, movies almost always have their reveal trailer full of humor to like stated in point 1, get people interested. The following trailers will likely show us the more mature themes and not humorous parts of the movie.
When it comes to transformers kids are just exited because it’s a new transformers film you don’t need comedy every five seconds for a transformers movie I was excited for transformers 4 when I was a little kid and those trailer had zero comedy, I’m not saying comedy is bad but when you go this hard with low hanging fruit comedy especially with a transformers movie of all things it’s really worrying and strange
@@giovonniiclayton like I said in point 2. Comedy is more likely to bring in more potential viewers than grittiness. Transformers 4 was a terrible movie (just my opinion, if you like it don't let me change that) because the grittiness got boring, same with the Netflix WFC. Even shows that had more serious tones were funny at times. Transformers Prime had Bulkhead, Ratchet, Smokescreen, Starscream, exedra that were hilarious throughout the show. I'm hoping for a serious movie too, but a serious movie shouldn't be devoid of anything humorous.
The humour in the trailer is the same bloody brand of stupid predictable Whedon style humour from the MCU Avengers films. The first TF animated film had humour but it felt more natural, even if it was a little camp. The humour in the trailer for this film is bloody cringe worthy. Sorry but as a fan of the franchise I have every bloody right to be skeptical and if you can't respect my bloody options well I do not know what else to say but bloody tough!
@@zemox2534 hey, it won't be for everyone. I respect that. I just think people are pre judging the entire movie based on this one trailer and not waiting to see anything else before bashing it.
at this point in my life I’ve kinda learned that trailers really don’t do a movie or series justice ESPECIALLY when they’re shot like this one so if I’m at least curious then what the heck I might as well at that point and be either pleasantly suprised or dissapointed afterward
Trailers can be the most misleading things in all of cinema. Tons of movies have looked amazing from the trailers and than are very mid movies. I wish people wouldn’t judge movies off just a trailer
@@sewing3049problem is, people are too quick to judge these days. Just because a trailer is showing the lighthearted moments of the movie doesn't automatically mean that the entire movie is this.
@@sewing3049 Good example of that is Doctor Strange 2; the trailer promised a cooler & better, overall, movie. But, as we all know, it turned out to be mid. Trailers aren't very accurate, thas true.
Tbh this kinda reminds me on how a lot of people (myself included) reacted to Puss in boots 2 it seemed way to light hearted and child friendly initially, but that turned out to be very enjoyable for all age groups with it’s mature themes and enjoyable characters. Which I strongly suspect will be the same thing for Transformers One
I can definitely agree. I theorize that it will start very lighthearted, then go into showing the audience the Cybertron that TFs always wished to go back to (and that we, as fans, never actually got to see)… then, the story will carry us through the loss (emotional investment). I have a feeling this is going to be a very good story (and a great entry, overall). Like every other TF continuity, I just look at it as its own thing, and I’m definitely curious about this. (…and for whatever it’s worth, I’m a “Day 1” fan since 1984.) Great video… cheers, all. 😊
@P.90.603 "C'mon, Prime, smile a little! It won't hurt; show me that underbite!" Or "He's a soldier" "He does not look like a soldier" "Well, you're looking a bit rough yourself" "HAA! ......Sorry..sir" Or "Wu Tang's in the building!!" "Way to be incognito..." That is SO much better & funnier than anything Michael Bay put in his movies!
the Bay humour usually did nothing to the story or to the film at all, it was unfunny and hard to watch but honestly a lot of it is forgettable apart from some small moments which were actually funny or just memorable, you rarely saw Optimus or Megatron acting like idiots and you could tell they were Optimus or Megatron, yeah its a prequel but i should still be able to tell who this is
It’s wild to me to see people immediately going to “it’s a comedy, eww!” because (ignoring the fact that there is a chance a comedy tf movie could work because comedy is a valid storytelling medium) even the roughest Shakespeare tragedy has comedy in it. You have to have some jokes or some silly character in order to be able to usher the audience into the tragic parts. Very few people are willing to immediately jump into a story that is dark and depressing with no breaks in the mood. There’s no way One is a comedy; it’s a tragedy. We know how it ends and it’s going to be bad. The way to usher in people who don’t already know the story is to showcase the humor. Tragedies aren’t sad just because of the way they end but because you get attached to the characters along the way. You get to know Hamlet throughout his story and you can see who he is and why he does the things he does, for good or ill, and that’s why the ending hurts so much. TF One is, hopefully for me anyway, going to be similar to that. It looks like that as the years go on, they’re a lot less interested in the whole “Megatron is pure evil with no redeeming qualities” and moving in the direction of “he has some good points but is doing the wrong things about them” which is just. More interesting to me. And seeing as it’s not the 80s anymore, that’s a good shift to me. Give me the silly young D-16 who gets hurt by the world and shaped into Megatron. Megatron is already a very fascinating character to me in other modern stories, so I’m very much looking forward to him here.
It baffles me how people can actually believe this is going to be a full on comedy when this is literally the story of how brothers became sworn enemies. I'm positive that the tone of the film will shift mid movie when the division between the two begins to enlarge. This film will either have a bad or a bittersweet ending with optimus and megatron reminiscing the past before accepting destiny and going head to head in battle against one another
@@P.90.603 Imagine if we get a scene of them playing basketball XD. Also this is back when things were better and Cybertron had life so yeah, can't wait 🥳
People have been burned too much as of late, woth movies, as well as with this franchise getting butchered. Darn, right, long time followers aren't gonna be too thrilled when their first peak at this is the typical Hollywood affair.
Granted, this isn't the tone I expected for this movie, but Im still pretty excited. This movie is part 1 of a 3-part trilogy telling the full story of how Optimus and Megatron went from best friends to mortal enemies at war with one another and how the Cybertronian War first began. Personally, I really like the art style, and I like the vibrant colours of Cybertron. I really like Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tee Henry as Optimus/Orion Pax and Megatron/D-16, and their dynamic together seems to be a highlight of the movie, which will make their downfall all the sadder when we see them go to war. Honestly, I don't mind the humour since Transformers can be fun and silly at times, but since we were just introduced to the beginning of their story, having that youthful comedy isn't a bad thing since its builds us up to the serious tone and eventual war and chaos later on
No humans? I’m immediately sold! All the live action movies had way too much human focus that I’m looking forward to just not having them. Let’s focus on the Transformer characters for once!
to me comedy is one of the fastest ways to make me care about the characters and when you take the comedy away and put them through more serious stuff it suddenly becomes emotional. I think that's one of the reasons people love Infinity War and Endgame so much, those movies have comedy in them but noticeably less than your average MCU movie while also being hundred times more serious, and as a result you get people who don't care that much about superhero movies into the seats. It's similar to how many famous serious manga started out as very comedic, you see this almost sitcom like style of comedy within a larger story that you steer into a serious arc. I think Transformers One will follow a similar projection just in a smaller scale and a quicker pace. You work out the characters in the movie's early comedic bits to have the audience entertained and get connected with them before putting them in more serious situations like the start of the war. It would be effective on me, and I think most would too imo.
Transformers fans: we want the transformers to have more personality Transformers fans: complain when they give the characters some personality IMO the movie looks really fun and from the trailer it looks like it will have moments more mature than just dumb kid humor. The Spiderverse movies have a good chunk of comedy in them and they are some of the top Animated movies ever imo with lots of emotion. This movies got a lot riding on it though. If it fails or isn’t good, I think Tf maybe done at the movies for a good bit of years if maybe ever.

Optimus being part of the lower caste fits better imo than some previous iterations. Or maybe he’ll start the autobots himself, idk. Can’t wait to see D-16 become Megatron.
I like style but few cast for my opinion feel like not great, they should pitch Brian voice down so feel like Megatron and I think Keegan should voice jazz because he's more suitable as jazz than bumblebee

The person who worked on the storyboard said this on social media. He wanted to work on this movie has a strong emotional ending. The man has worked on many films and has won his fair share of awards.
They maybe want to go the harrypotter route. Growing along with the audience. Since this is transformers one it will be funny and lighthearted with a serieus tone. But the second movie will be sad and darker since its all about war and the rivalry between megatron and optimus and maybe optimus's hope to bring back his lost friend. And the third could be the darkest. most loss. It could be that optimus really started to hate megatron and realizes the old megatron isnt there anymore. And it could be great to see how bumble bee goes from happy, funny and innocent to a traumatized ruthless warrior and killer that hopelessly tries to keep himself sane with a tiny bit of humor.
*had comedy. It was never a full-blown comedy. But, it _did_ have quite a bit of comedic parts. Its like a Comedic Action-Adventure movie. Ppl are complaining that TF: One will be a GOTG, but is that really a bad thing? GOTG Trilogy was goated & TTFTM actually has some GOTG vibes to it. GOTG Trilogy are actually Comedic Action Adventure movies, not full-blown comedy.
I couldn't be happier that a "CHILD FRIENDLY" transformers movie that covers the origin story of Orion Pax (G1 actually covered this with a time travel episode with the Arial-bots) Now i honestly am waiting for a Stanly Tucci As merlin return for Visionaries (the cartoon was slightly different set on another world etc but for modernization and tie the MASK and VISIONARIES franchise together you would use transformers X GI JOE as the hot glue) Transformers ONE looks like a REALLY FUN family movie and grounded script-wise because if anyone knows G1 it's very wooden dialogue we remember fondly but it wasn't as good as you remember. My hope is that VISIONARIES (tied to the last knight) and MASK (Tied to the rise of the beasts movie) Transformimum technology in the hands of humans and Stanly Tucci's Merlin character and the whole King arthor being a key plot strand they left hanging to be tugged at (staff of power was key to THE last knights plot but the FONT of power was never discusses) I been taking in lore form this universe all my life even found myself remembering Lines from visonaries.. (crazy i remember that show) some of mask A LOT of carebears tho. ( i had siblings)
While i understand G1, animated, TFP, cyberverse and Earthspark have comedy/humorous moments but they handled it well and it didnt feel oversaturated. By the trailer itself that's how it seems to potray. I just hope the film doesn't rely too much on comedy. I do agree the film may be lighthearted at first then it may turn dark later on. The hate on it is being blow ln out of proportion. I also don't know where people got the idea and believed the animation was gonna be spiderverse or TMNT Mutant mayhem levels it sounded like they hyped themselves up only to be disappointed.
Well said! People need to chill out. I think this movie has a lot of potential to be something new and look at a part of Cybertron's history that has hardly been explored in depth. We'll just have to see what future trailers give us, but regardless, I'm seeing it in theaters for sure.

I think you’re spot on. It’s not an easy task to hit so many target audiences. There will always be haters although it does make me laugh how far people go to rubbish something they haven’t even seen yet. It’s great to see comedy, humour has a way of helping the viewer warm to people so when it does go tragic it really hits hard because you care about the characters. After getting out of transformers after beast wars it’s been great to discover all the variations that have appeared up until WFC. I’m looking forward to this. The one thing I was concerned about was the voice cast but I’ve been put at ease from the trailer, the voices work for younger versions of these characters
I’d like to point out that even though this may be a comedy to some degree transformers have always been tied to a comedic element. Tracks is living proof of that statement. Heck even foc had its light hearted moments. That’s mainly what rotb lacked.
Every transformers fan knows tf has comedy in it the problem is with the trailer the comedy seems over the top and not implemented well you can have a movie with comedy and make it good just look at kung fu panda 1
I only say that because that’s largely what most of the hate is based on. Writing off a movie because it’s comedic is so dismissive it almost redefines the word. As far as I’m concerned it did a good job so far.
I don't particularly like the designs, but the animation is god damn beautiful, is really fluid for what they show and the action looks fun, I'm 90% sure most of the jokes are gonna be groaners for me, but, hey, if Pattinson shut my mouth with the Batman, I'm giving this movie the benefit of the doubt and go watch it, maybe I'll enjoy it more than I expect
Another thing we should be noticing in the trailer, as we get closer to the end of the trailer… D-16 isn’t with Orion Pax and the others. It’s gonna happen guys, two brothers are going to turn to sworn enemies.
I must say that the trailer quickly grew on me after watching it a couple of times. The world design and animation really does look terrific. My one concern was that they were using a Dreamworks/Illumination style of overly self-conscious comedy, rather than a comedy style that might have felt more organic to the setting. Transformers Animated, for example, was terrifically funny in ways that didn't feel forced or out of place with the characters. On the other hand, the bit with Bee running away rather nailed the comedic timing, so maybe the rest of the comedy will feel more organic in context. I do think it's good to have comedy during this part of the story. You want audiences to see what Optimus and Megatron end up losing when their friendship falls apart.
I think that many TF fans need to calm down a bit, this movie is first made for kids when adults are a secondary thought. Despite this it feels like it will be a great movie, always down for a Megatron/Optimus best friend origin story set during Cybertron’s Golden Age. The story feels like it will be quite solid, love how it will dive into the government being a corrupt system and that the citizens are affected by it, wonder if the lower class bots get their T-Cogs ripped out at creation when the higher ones still retain theirs?! Overall can’t wait for this movie this September!
Stop with the it’s made for kids excuse transformers animated was for kids, transformers 2007 was for kids kung fu panda 1-2 was for kids so there’s no excuse for this kids deserve better but instead they get trash because sense it’s made for kids we don’t have to put in effort to actually add some kind of value that they can look back on when their older
@@giovonniiclayton I mean man we don’t know for certain that this movie will be bad, it might actually be quite good. Never judge something completely on only the first trailer alone because there definitely is more to show in the near future, so basically continue waiting for more stuff on the movie later on and then you can make your judgement.
This is exactly my take on the trailer! The story is definitely not a comedy, and it’s insane how many people have decided the film will be absolutely terrible because of one trailer.
Your first trailer is your first impression what do you expect if they expected to get people of all ages into theaters to watch this they just turned off a lot of people with this trailer including myself
I feel like this movie is gonna hit everyone with that turn and get into that war part and hopefully pull in the new audience also this will get people sitting in the seats i think this could be good
This movie looks like it'll be a blast, just something we have to get used to and get comfortable with. Praying that they do a good job with the marketing.
12:39 I fully agree, we all have our own ideas for our own ideal telling of the Transformers story but... if you wanna see it your way, no one is stopping you from writing it yourself. I know so many people in the TF fandom who write their own continuities and make their own comics or fan animations of things they wanna see. And that's what's so amazing about this community, there will almost always be new fan made content as the official stuff is being made. From personal experience it's really fun to write your own version of the story, or even just a couple scenes that have been rolling around in my head.
I think what happened was the kids that grew up on Bayverse saw all the dismemberment and the war crimes and the face-giving and because they were little kids themselves they didn't understand that Skids & Mudflap / I'm below the enemy scrotum / dogs humping / I ate the whole plate / Bumblebee pissing on Simmons / etc were all cringey immature jokes aimed at 12 year olds so the impression they walked away from those movies was "Wow so dark and serious" and now they're all in their adulthood and cringey immature jokes aimed at 12 year olds just don't hit them the same way so they watch the trailer for One and they're like "why is this just some lame humor for little kids instead of being dark and serious and grounded like the movies I grew up on"
They target new young fans. Fully animated. Origin story. No humans. Before the war. Optimus and megatron were friends before. So I'm okay with this. It's something new. I wonder what will happen inthe end of this movie? Will Optimus and megatron go to their separate ways? Will the actual war starts? The beginning of 2 factions? I'm very interested
Here’s a good analogy: Look at the trailers for the Kung Fu Panda and Despicable Me movies and then compare them to the actual stories. The trailers are primarily the jokes and comedy to pull the audience in, and then the writing and plot of the film turns out to have serious and heartfelt moments in it.
@@kade-qt1zu Every single "true fan" no matter of what era, is just the same. Its funny how both Transformers amd Gundam has had to deal with this given their multiple continuities.
True fans complain because they want what they love to be better. The true problem are people who attack fans for not liking something and refuse to believe anything can be flawed Of course people are going to angry that they waited decades for a film only for it to *LOOK* like a generic film that doesn't care about the source material. The film is not even out yet and people (sadly mostly the defenders) are trying to create a war. This trailer is a terrible first impression to many people and if the movie turns out to be great then that would be great but its not bad to doubt something
@@alumlovescakeexactly this shit looks too comedic and the wrong ways and people say it can get serious but if you make something too goofy and do a 180 into gritty and serious theme it’s going to be weird and forced, the people behind this movie should have took inspiration from kung fu panda 1 and 2 on how to implement comedy in a serious story not Pixar movies
Wrong. The Transformers IP has been garbo ever since Bay got his hands on it. Now we get a Prince of Egypt ripoff with stupid Marvel jokes. This movie is garbo. 🤢🤮
So far I'm honestly excited. It looks like it's gonna be a fun watch and a new twist on one of our favorite franchises. Yee id prefer a more serious, deep lore relative movie set in this universe but i imagine ill have a good time watching it
I am so excited for this movie, i believe there just showing the comedic parts of the movie for the trailer just to get some people in the theaters, but i 100% sure this movie will be pretty deep in some levels
this reminds me of when the first Godzilla x Kong the new empire trailer released because people wanted it to be a dark and serious toned film when in reality it doesn't have to be like that and it can just be a goofy and fun kaiju fighting film and in this case its the opposite way around
I’d like to imagine these iterations on the Transformers cast, namely Optimus and Megatron, as the younger versions of their Earthspark incarnations. It’d kinda makes sense in Earthspark, where the Autobots are growing accustomed to having Megatron on their team again, though there’s tension there’s not really any animosity between them as they still have their history back on Cybertron and want to rekindle that. Optimus and Megatron in Earthspark definitely feel like brothers who fell out but are now remending their relationship/friendship; they spat and argue, but they also joke and know each other’s quirks. There’s no real hatred between, their ‘war’ feels more like a disagreement that got dangerously out of hand, and both of them now regret it.
Check out my latest video where I explain how TF ONE Plans to destroy the friendship between Optimus and Megatron! ruclips.net/video/SKL23st-ASM/видео.htmlsi=cUb9-B4KjbkfD5Ji

That's one thing this movie has the potential for, to make Megatron's turn to well Megatron actually impactful
I love the prequels, were it not for them, I wouldn't like Star Wars at all like I used to when a kid.
I've said this once before but I'll repeat it one last time:

I could see it being a lot like Prince of Egypt** (thank you Camden for pointing out the error lmao) where it’s more light-hearted while Ramesses and Moses were friends and then it gets darker as they grow apart.
I always compared Optimus and Megatron to them in my head canon
PLEASE if we got something half as good as that movie then maybe people outside of the fandom will take TF seriously for once.

Prince of Egypt **
Good comparison,,,I think that's exactly how it's going to go
The same thing happened with both Into the Spider-Verse, and The Last Wish
Two movies who are both critically and financially successful had marketing that focused more on the comedic elements
As well as the Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2 trailers
Spider-Verse isn't really a good example, it's Spider-Man and everyone loves him

I was a little put off the first time I saw the trailer, but after watching it a few times, it’s growing on me.
Exactly
I don't mind the comedy or animation but the voices are lame to me.
The problem is that the comedy is just low hanging fruit in the trailer not all comedy is good comedy
@@sidearmsalpha ROTB, too.

I definitely wrote off Earthspark at first (I'm still not a fan of the art style), and while I still haven't watched it, I did watch a clip of that one scene of Starscream and Megatron, where Megatron asks him to come with him to which he replies "Nowhere is safe if it's with you."
As we know, Megatron often puts Starscream through abuse in many Transformers stories. Sometimes merited, sometimes not.
It was nice to finally see a direct callout to that absuse in a show. I certainly did not expect Earthspark to be the show that would do that.

(…and for whatever it’s worth, I’m a “Day 1” fan since 1984.)
Great video… cheers, all.

Wasn't G1 about Robot Booz? Seriously there was a scene where Decepticons got drunk?
Why are people hating on a movie that isn't out yet.
You’re think of animated (2007) not g1
you have the most educated opinion about this trailer that ive seen so far thanks for not freaking out
I’d rather have this kind of humor than Micheal Bay’s juvenile 14 year old humor any day.
Agreed
Agreed. Michael Bay's humour is mostly vulgar & inappropriate for a kids toy-inspired movie. This is actually much better
@P.90.603
"C'mon, Prime, smile a little! It won't hurt; show me that underbite!"
Or
"He's a soldier"
"He does not look like a soldier"
"Well, you're looking a bit rough yourself"
"HAA! ......Sorry..sir"
Or
"Wu Tang's in the building!!"
"Way to be incognito..."
That is SO much better & funnier than anything Michael Bay put in his movies!
Meh. I'll take that over this blatantly typical stuff that you can predict like the sun raising honestly.
the Bay humour usually did nothing to the story or to the film at all, it was unfunny and hard to watch but honestly a lot of it is forgettable apart from some small moments which were actually funny or just memorable, you rarely saw Optimus or Megatron acting like idiots and you could tell they were Optimus or Megatron, yeah its a prequel but i should still be able to tell who this is
It’s wild to me to see people immediately going to “it’s a comedy, eww!” because (ignoring the fact that there is a chance a comedy tf movie could work because comedy is a valid storytelling medium) even the roughest Shakespeare tragedy has comedy in it.
I ain't reading all 'at! (I actually read all of that, and that's a good point actually)

This movie looks like those aligned continuity novels and Transformers Prime flashbacks in animated form
Not at all
As -Megatron- Galvatron once said: "This is bad comedy"
Honestly, I don't mind the humour since Transformers can be fun and silly at times, but since we were just introduced to the beginning of their story, having that youthful comedy isn't a bad thing since its builds us up to the serious tone and eventual war and chaos later on
If the movie doesn't eventually look like in the opening act to bumblebee , with them escaping then I'm not so sure, anymore, about it anymore..
THANK YOU. THIS RIGHT HERE 🙌
It reminds me so much of TF:Prime. Arachnid, the Vehicons and the artstyle. That guaranteed my ticket.

No humans? I’m immediately sold! All the live action movies had way too much human focus that I’m looking forward to just not having them. Let’s focus on the Transformer characters for once!
i aslo think why some people hate this is not live action and and they hate transformers in the spotlight so they want human
to me comedy is one of the fastest ways to make me care about the characters and when you take the comedy away and put them through more serious stuff it suddenly becomes emotional.
Transformers fans: we want the transformers to have more personality
Transformers fans: complain when they give the characters some personality
IMO the movie looks really fun and from the trailer it looks like it will have moments more mature than just dumb kid humor. The Spiderverse movies have a good chunk of comedy in them and they are some of the top Animated movies ever imo with lots of emotion. This movies got a lot riding on it though. If it fails or isn’t good, I think Tf maybe done at the movies for a good bit of years if maybe ever.
People forget the hole point of transformers is that they change

Optimus being part of the lower caste fits better imo than some previous iterations. I find Megatron more sympathetic since his resentment and feelings of betrayal come more from him and Optimus both being mistreated by the caste system, yet Optimus still sides with the Autobots. Or maybe he’ll start the autobots himself, idk. Can’t wait to see D-16 become Megatron.

Since 86 we finally have a movie where the transformers are the REAL protagonists, i think the future of this franchise is the animation
It’s often forgotten the original 1984 cartoon was a comedy

Ppl are complaining that TF: One will be a GOTG, but is that really a bad thing? GOTG Trilogy was goated & TTFTM actually has some GOTG vibes to it. GOTG Trilogy are actually Comedic Action Adventure movies, not full-blown comedy.
I get the feeling that the longer the the plot goes on the more serious it will get.
Reminds me of TF animated, it took me years to grow into it style and it was like last year I started to grow into it 😂
I couldn't be happier that a "CHILD FRIENDLY" transformers movie that covers the origin story of Orion Pax (G1 actually covered this with a time travel episode with the Arial-bots)
Now i honestly am waiting for a Stanly Tucci As merlin return for Visionaries (the cartoon was slightly different set on another world etc but for modernization and tie the MASK and VISIONARIES franchise together you would use transformers X GI JOE as the hot glue)
Transformers ONE looks like a REALLY FUN family movie and grounded script-wise because if anyone knows G1 it's very wooden dialogue we remember fondly but it wasn't as good as you remember.
My hope is that VISIONARIES (tied to the last knight) and MASK (Tied to the rise of the beasts movie)
Transformimum technology in the hands of humans and Stanly Tucci's Merlin character and the whole King arthor being a key plot strand they left hanging to be tugged at (staff of power was key to THE last knights plot but the FONT of power was never discusses)
I been taking in lore form this universe all my life even found myself remembering Lines from visonaries..

These movies have the potential to be the next spider-verse trilogy and I'm really hoping that they are
God forbid a children’s franchise be lighthearted
Please don't make up stuff abt ROTB. Please. Its embarrassing....for you.
I appreciate your take on the trailer as well as your choice to put The Wolf Among Us soundtrack in the background. 🔥🔥

You can really tell which people only watched the Michael Bay movies with some of the criticisms that are being thrown at this movie
I think what happened was the kids that grew up on Bayverse saw all the dismemberment and the war crimes and the face-giving and because they were little kids themselves they didn't understand that Skids & Mudflap / I'm below the enemy scrotum / dogs humping / I ate the whole plate / Bumblebee pissing on Simmons / etc were all cringey immature jokes aimed at 12 year olds so the impression they walked away from those movies was "Wow so dark and serious" and now they're all in their adulthood and cringey immature jokes aimed at 12 year olds just don't hit them the same way so they watch the trailer for One and they're like "why is this just some lame humor for little kids instead of being dark and serious and grounded like the movies I grew up on"
This reminds me of the Fox and Hound trailer turned to 11. It's gonna end in tears. They even kill their planet. Can't wait
They target new young fans. Fully animated. Origin story. No humans. Before the war. Optimus and megatron were friends before. So I'm okay with this. It's something new.

It sounds like it was written like Beast Wars: Transformers (1997). I’m here for it!
Here’s a good analogy:
Look at the trailers for the Kung Fu Panda and Despicable Me movies and then compare them to the actual stories. The trailers are primarily the jokes and comedy to pull the audience in, and then the writing and plot of the film turns out to have serious and heartfelt moments in it.
