CERTIFIED SUCKER HERE! Red Velvet has no Killing Voice. I REPEAT! RED VELVET HAS NO KILLING VOICE! FM is for fan-made and not just some adorable, oh so cute, way to reference radio waves. Always been told I’m gullible. Now I guess I get to share that fun fact with y’all. NOTE: Literally saved this one to watch like 2 months ago. Could not have been more excited. Patience rewarded with egg on the face is nice and humbling 😂
can you react to mamamoo mv for "egotistical, windflower or "where are we now"? Where are we now is beautiful mv ballad about their 7 year journey at that time
Thats ok.. there is probability that rv finish filming their killing voice performance. They didnt spoil anything but gave a hint that, they filmed something recently and it is something to do with their album title, so many speculated, the word "kill"and thought of killing voice.
IU's dominance by being a soloist is no joke.....she commands the whole stadium during her concert despite her alone out there....the same can be said of her career, being omnipresence despite not coming from any major brand/studio
I'm very late to the party, two months to be exact- but girl I just found your channel and let me just say I ADORE your reactions you just got yourself another subscriber! Dude I love them all so much and Red Velvet and Mamamoo (dude the fact that Hwasa was sick and they all were not on their "Best" game is just wow) really are vocal QUEENS, though I do feel like people especially newer fans underestimate Red Velvet and as you can see (since you did react to more Red Velvet) they can definitely hold their own not to mention they do have one of if not the best vocalist in their group aka Wendy and then the rest they all could be main vocalists in any other Group! Not to mention this isn't the best video to showcase all of their Vocals and songs because they do have a lot of amazing R&B songs, summer songs, etc. They can do any genre. And then of course IU is insane, her Vocals are AMAZING she really is royalty in K - Pop plus I think I heard that she was also sick as well I could be wrong but either way I'm stunned! Anyways I can't wait for you to check out more Girl Groups/Soloists, I can't wait for more Content from you and I hope that you are doing well and staying safe and healthy! P.S. If you ever need any good Videos I could totally help you out if you need it, also I am definitely binging all of your videos!
From my understanding, Hwasa was not on top of her game during Mamamoo's killing voice, like she was under the weather or not feeling well, but still did her thing and sounded amazing. I never really listened to Mamamoo before, but knew who they were and that they were always praised for their vocals... So when they came to AZ in May, I got tickets to their concert and was blown away by how amazing these ladies are live.
Yea, Hwasa was sick during this performance. And I guess she was also promoting for a solo project at this time, too, so she was a bit run down going in. But her vocals are still flawless and she still had fun with it, so you almost can’t even tell.
MAMAMOO now joins the ranks of Destiny's Child, The Spice Girls, and TLC as the ONLY girl groups to sell over 70,000 tickets on their FIRST tour in the USA. This makes MAMAMOO the ONLY girl group to achieve this milestone AFTER a 21-year gap. AND the only Non-English speaking girl group to accomplish such a feat.
This was a lot of fun to watch, I like how you took your time and enjoyed the music! I'm an old guy and IU's songs make me emotional too, she's a very special artist!
About your question no there is no other group that you can compare to them. And i'm not saying this bc i'm an Moomoo (Mamamoos fandom name). In Korea they have the title " Mamamoo never dissapoint" Now JYP is busy with making an new show and is looking for new talent. In one of his interviews he said that he is looking for the new Mamamoo.. And by the way.. The rapper has amazing vocals too. Months ago Moonbyul was on a show called the second world where 8 rapper show their vocal abilitys. Moonbyul won the show and shoked everyone with her vocals. Everyone was mesmarized with how high and stable here vocals were
Although I am moomoo thru and thru since found them 5 years ago... it was IU that saw in her drama Dream High that got me into kpop ..found out she was real singer and then rest history. IU is amazing actress as well...
Red Velvet has Red songs; cute and bubbly, and Velvet songs; more R&B. I have seen YT videos by people far more qualified than I am, do tier lists of vocalists and RV's Wendy is always at or near the top. Mamamoo's Solar, Wheein and Hwasa are right there with her. Solar recently played the lead in a musical theater production of Mata Hari and was challenged to improve her technique. She is better now than she was in this. Moonbyul has gotten serious about her singing and has been taking voice lessons. Last year she appeared on a competition show for rappers who wanted to sing called Second World. Spoiler alert, she won easily.
Mamamoo are so insane love that they often finish official album recordings quickly. For example their song Chuck was recorded in one take. The offical album version
Mamamoo's hidden gems are in the b-sides, If you like R&B as a soloist Wheein is the one I would recommend, but all of them have some great solo songs.
The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of 2023 - Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 115(2nd most credited famale artist overall... Yoon Mirae at 139), since she writes her own raps(and more) in almost all of the group’s songs. As well as contributing to the songwriting in many of them as well. - Solar has 37 credits to her name. She wrote the lyrics and composition for her solo song, “Spit it Out”. Composer on "Honey". - Hwasa has 44 credits. The lyrics to her solo song, “María”, were praised for its inventive and meaningful wordplay. ("Somebody" w/Loco). - Wheein has 9 credits (that I can find, maybe more) AND COUNTING....
@@dragonkazoo77 The numbers were from earlier in the year.... that is why I added "AND COUNTING" at the end But thanks for the update... what about WheeIn?
There are no positions in Mamamoo except leader which is Solar since all of can sing dance and rap. They have been compared to 2ne1 but the thing i really want you to know is Red Velvet and Mamamoo are all friends i would say almost since their debuts. Selgui and Moonbyul did a song called selfish on Mamamoo red album. Theres more i can talk about but others know alot more which i hope they let you know of. Thanks for reacting to all these wonderful artist .
Kinda a shame too... If there was any girl group not named mamamoo that deserves to be on a KV, it's red velvet. Wendy is probably the strongest singular vocalist in kpop. So then not being on KV is a crime
1:10:53 YOU’RE SO ME FR😭 I also cried a lot when I first listened to it. Autumn morning is such a precious song to me, and there’s something about IU’s voice in this song that scratches an itch in my brain just right
Of course. That's a single heart for you. Always first drawn to the one they can't have. Well just means I'll have to check him out and anything he has done as well 💜
I dearly loved Spica, and hated when their sponsors just dropped them, but I really love SNSD also. And since they are contracted with SM Entertainment (which has the reputation of never actually cancelling any group), they look pretty safe.
So appreciate your appreciation of IU. Would be curious what you think about the critique many western vocal coach types make about breathy stylings of artists like IU, and even Wheein, which I’ve fallen for big time. Do you think this is a cultural difference about what is “proper” singing? Also, if you RE review Blueming, lyrics for this song is best understood as a romance blooming via text messaging, including with exchange of flowers, presents and more.
I love her breathy style, and don't ALWAYS love it on others. I think it all depends on tone. I can understand vocal coaches try to teach to perfection since that's their expertise and their job, so can understand why they might see things like that as a flaw, but for me it's what makes her unique. I really haven't found anyone who pulls it off quite like her where she's still perfectly on pitch. I find it so endearing because it feels genuinely her voice. I don't think it's so much a cultural thing as maybe teachers are always looking to point out the flaw to improve when others can just see it as unique to cherish💜
MAMA MAMA MAMAMOO!!!! Four superstars collectively as Mamamoo, and individually as each member has their own very successful solo career. They are in my top 3 kpop girl groups (Blackpink, Mamamoo, (G)I-DLE). They have over 300 titles in their discography and their musical variety includes elements of Blues, Reggae, Jazz, Hip Hop, Pop, Rock, and traditional Korean Folk. More MMM, please react to their live performance IMMORTAL SONGS MEDELY. I enjoyed this reaction and look froward to more of yours to Mamamoo and IU.
You got me excited about Immortal Songs. Another commenter shot me the link and for sure checking that one out with y’all! Thanks for checking out my vid 💜
Mamamoo is my favorite group in the world living at least, Prince is #1 for me. I saw mamamoo live here in LA back in June and they really do sound so good live, it sounds as good as recorded. All 4 can sing and rap, dance and their live performances are insane for production. Solar is the powerbelter. They all have solo albums, Solar and Moonbyul have a subgroup that released two minialbums this year. Everything they do is like this, excellent, even in live performances from their debut year. They all have youtube channels, Solar's has some excellent covers, like one of the best michael jackson man in the mirror covers I have heard. Watch MVs and Live videos, live because it is insane how good they are and MVs for being well produced. There is no 2nd or 1st generation girl group like them, there is a group, Big Mama, which would be between 1st and 2nd generation if they were Kpop Idols but they are not they were a singing group and they can be considered the first group focused entirely on vocal, Mamamoo would be just after them. They went off to become music teachers for the last decade or so but last year or so they did a Killing voice and then released a new album last year.
1:06:43 a very fun fact abt 'through the night', this is actually Wonwoo's favourite song. He has mentioned multiple times in videos and lives that he's a fan of IU and he love this song.
Big Mama is another group with crazy vocals, but they're soul rather than K-pop, and don't really fall into a gen. Their Killing Voice is definitely worth a listen!
2ne1! They don't focus on harmonies, but you can hear their true vocal tones and see their vocal individuality just like mamamoo. Check out their acoustic live performances like come back home, I love you, if I were you.
The very goodlooking man at 50:50 is MINHO from SHINee hehehehe (Oh and also MAMAMOO - LOVE! You loved my favorite song so much - Dingga - that's on my playlist and a never skip bop for sure - something fun is Moonbyul also has a duet song with Seulgi that has an MV - it's called Selfish and it's SO CUTE) Yeah they always give them blankets for their legs when they're wearing skirts! Their usual sitting order - Joy, Yeri, Irene, Seulgi, Wendy! Irene, as you said - Ms "Original Visual", the classic beauty of an age. Yep. But they all are so gorgeous. When the group debuted in 2014 they didn't have Yeri, but when she joined them in March 2015 she had just turned 16 - so when you see those early clips from 2015/2016 not only were they as a group super brand new, Yeri was an actual child. She's a 1999 liner, same as Dino in Seventeen who debuted in 2015 also - these little babies. Anyway! SO! I told you all about Red Velvet's dual concept and you heard a LOT of "Red" songs in this fanmade Killing Voice for sure! hehehe You can hear that the ad libs and some of the vocals still keep that velvet flavor in some of the super Red songs, but yeah - the bright, bubbly, poppy songs are a staple to the discography, but so is the other side. Their recent tour actually was called R to V - Red to Velvet. They opened with two dates in Seoul and the concert was split into two halves - Red and Velvet. The performances on the Velvet side were 🔥🔥🔥 I'll give you their set list as an example of the two sides - although they have said that since Psycho their songs are mostly not so divided into Red and Velvet, there are still some that are clearly more one or the other. RED: Feel My Rhythm Bamboleo LP Ice Cream Cake Oh Boy (classic Red song w/ R&B vocal flavor) On A Ride Eyes Locked, Hands Locked (ballad) Queendom Bing Bing Birthday Red Flavor (summer queen!) VELVET: Pose Beg for Me Zoom Bye Bye In & Out I Just Peekaboo (for me this is a very red/velvet mix song) Bad Boy Psycho Remix Celebrate In encores they have done: Hello Sunset (with fans) My Dear Russian Roulette You Better Know ZIMZALABIM Encores are upbeat songs except the fan song (which is really just sung along w/ the fans who are singing to them - fan project song) so mostly Red but My Dear, You Better Know, and Zimzalabim are power vocals as well - definitely all must listen at least once haha :)
Hey there! OK so SHINee, that every time I edit I'm reminded that I still any not saying it right, keeps popping up everywhere around what I watch is like they're calling me. I know it's more like they're just THAT pervasive, but I feel like it's also calling me. And thank you for all of your Red Velvet assistance both on and off vids 😂. I know you mentioned it to me earlier than this post but understand their concept more, it all makes way more sense. And also I appreciate that is so thoughtful and fun, at that. I'm excited to check out some more.
Mamamoo Vocal Queens of kpop! Once you listen to them especially live they would really set the standards high for vocals and stage presence! But they are more than their insane vocals! They are artsista who channels their passion through their music! Please check their Immortal songs Medley!
Thank you for still appreciating this even in my dunce moment 🤣. I am happy that I made the mistake because I might still be waiting on checking out RV if not and excited to check out more stuff now! 💜
This is a bit long for me so I stopped when you got to the fake RV Killing Voice. You had very perceptive comments about MMM and said what you liked and didn't like. I appreciate honest opinions more than happy happy joy joy blah blah blah so I subscribed. Answers & info about your Mamamoo questions and comments: Hwasa as a badass. On stage she's a fierce Hwalion who takes no prisoners. In real life she's a sentimental cuddly furball. The song titles were listed on the top, some only in Korean, and the album titles and year of release were underneath. The first song is called Mr Ambiguous. Correctamundo about the 60's girl group and big band influences. MMM started with a retro concept and many of their early songs are in this vein. Mr Ambiguous was written for Quincy Jones by the co-CEO of MMM's agency and the girls performed it for QJ when they were still trainees while he was in Seoul for a concert. He decided not to use it so the song was given to Mamamoo as their debut single and released on June 19, 2014. The date will come up later in Gogobebe. Earlier girl groups who were known for their singing include Wonder Girls, Spica, Brown Eyed Girls, and 2NE1. Imo nobody compares to Mamamoo's across the board all-star talent and the magical synergistic alchemy of their bff sisterhood. You'll probably like 2NE1 the most but I listen to Spica and their spin off subunit duo Keembo more than the other groups. Gogobebe, aka 9966. MMM likes to play with letter and number substitutions. Moonbyul starts off this snippet of Gogobebe with "9 / 6, 6 19, 9 / 6, gogobebe," and that's a clue. 9 / 6 and 6 19 are a palindrome with the slash becoming a 1 and the second time around 9 / 6 = gogobebe because 9 = g and 6 = b, hence the alternate title 9966. Gogobebe does mean go, go, baby, which in the context of the song means party and have fun. 9 to 6 is the standard Korean work day and as you'll recall June 19th (6 19) is their debut date. I translate Moonbyul's numerical-verbal formula to read "We've been working nonstop ever since we debuted and it's time to Party!" Aya is the Korean equivalent of Ouch! You picked out Solar (2nd from left) as the main singer and MMM's agency RBW sometimes refers to her that way but in practice there's no pecking order between the 3 main singers and btw Moonbyul is also a terrific singer. Moonbyul would probably be the main singer in most girl groups. Moomoos (Mamamoo fans) often say Mamamoo is 4 singers, rappers, dancers, songwriters and choreographers. Besides being world class singers and performers they're also heavily involved in all creative aspects of their career. At the beginning of the Red Velvet section you said you hadn't seen an ugly idol. Believe it or not Hwasa was sent packing when she tried to audition for kpop agencies and was bluntly told she was fat and ugly. The co-CEO who wrote Mr Ambiguous had the novel idea of assembling a girl group based on their vocal talent, performance skills & creativity and promoting them as artists rather than teen idols and with that idea in mind he plucked Hwasa and the other members from the pile of audition rejects and retreads from other companies. Solar had been rejected about 50 times because she was thought to be too old (she was over 20) and Moonbyul & Wheein signed with RBW after failing to debut at another company. He was warned by industry insiders that Mamamoo would fail miserably but fortunately for us music lovers they went on to be very successful. They've never been the most popular girl group but I think they're probably the most respected girl group in Korea by both their peers and by the general public, who coined the slang phrase Belismamoo to summarize their feelings about them: Believe & Listen to Mamamoo. Sorry my comment went on almost as long as your video. 🙄 Hope you enjoy getting to know Mamamoo! 😂
@@hossetttren253 I hate typos so I'm happy to do the typing for you lol. I don't think I made any errors. It might be TMI at once but since she made some good comments I thought she deserved full answers.
Long comments are my favorite. They're usually the last I get to because I want to make sure i have the time read them fully, but never apologize. I really appreciate this stuff. I feel like I say it too much but this is why I started the channel. I wanted people to talk anything and all things kpop (and now adjacent as I start to try more of what's out there) stuff with, learn stuff from, be able to gush about things with and not be afraid to share my own thoughts and opinions with. Something I'm not great at in my personal life, so I loved all of this. Any comments that help me with some of the stuff I just don't culturally know, language-wise or even simple acronyms like you calling them MMM, which took me a sec but like now I realize anytime I see that it's for MaMaMoo. It was a lot but you really summarized it all succinctly. I feel like I got a really good crash course that makes me want to know even more. So from small to all the big stuff too 💜 🙏🏾 Now that i've droned on.....but also forgive me because as I've shown, I'm the opposite of concise 😂 The lyrical symbolism that only a fan or someone researched would know. Those things are my favorite! I appreciate artist who have that kind of layered creativity. It has a personal meaning but then Moonbyul also gives it these hidden allegorical AND almost numerically? alliterative meaning too. Makes me intrigued by how she thinks and writes. I'm so siloed in my kpop and idol fandom. I really only learn from the internet (oversaturated and already leading me down the same specific paths based on my own like, you know) so all I know is what I've sort of pieced together in my head and as a group in terms of precedence they're so hugely popular to me. But I'm seeing more so that's probably the reverence for them I've picked up. There is something classic and timeless to their style. Like V in his solos in my opinion, not everyone needs to be the most pop-y or mainstream but those are the groups that just aren't as big sales wise because their appeal is not that broad. That has nothing to do with talent or how much people appreciate their talent. Though it's not my most favorite style, I appreciate it. It fills many places for me that maybe my most favorite styles wouldn't. Thanks. for sharing your loves of these guys with me Side note: So sad for me to think someone as beautiful as Hwasa is had to go through that. I guess I'm not surprised with the standards these women seem to be held to but man when I see her does she make me feel like she's the sexiest, most commanding in her mind and makes me feel like I can think about myself that way too. I don't know if that makes sense!
@@DiaryOfAKPOPIntrovert Thanks for approving of long comments and writing such a long reply yourself. You're absolutely right about Hwasa in more ways than you could know and what you said made perfect sense. Hwasa is an inspirational figure, her stage presence is undeniably commanding, and she earned the nickname "the fatal maknae" because she makes everything she sings sound sexy, even children's songs lol. Hwasa told the story about the audition where she was rudely told she was fat and ugly during her solo stage in MMM's 2019 concert tour. She said she went home and cried, then comforted herself by watching a Beyonce concert video and told herself "If I don't fit into this generation's standard of beauty then I'm going to become my own standard." Mission accomplished. Mamamoo has never fit into kpop's standards of beauty, fashion, gender, sexuality or polite behavior by female idols. Not that they cultivate a bad girl image, they just do their own thing and stand up for themselves and the things they believe in. They're happy go lucky iconoclasts whose duality as serious artists vs crackhead "beagle-dols" is legendary. In their songs they often encourage others to be themselves, to love themselves and to accept and appreciate other people for their uniqueness. Mamamoo have become role models for younger idols and women in general and I think their example has helped to change kpop's rigid notions of how a female idol should look, dress and behave and what a girl group can be creatively. As you watch Mamamoo MVs I'll probably write you a few more essays. Their MVs often have multiple levels of meaning underneath a deceptively simple surface level of beauty, hotness and charisma. For example between late March 2018 and early March 2019 they released four mini-albums in a landmark series called 4 Season 4 Color that is the most ambitious project ever done by a girl group. The title track MVs explore a complex web of cyclical seasonal and color symbolism as they chart four stages of love in a relationship cycle. Someday someone will write their doctoral thesis on 4 Season 4 Color but I'll try to keep my essays as short and succinct as possible. 😏😂
The theme of "Dumb Dumb" is _love makes you stupid, tongue-tied, and paralyzed_ so yes it is dumb as in stupid-dumb. "Kinda Crazy" was a b-side, and one of their rare misses in that category. Something like their "Milkshake" would be a better example of their b-sides. Caution: there are numerous other songs of the same name. If it's by a different group it's not the same!
Fun fact since you liked the word "umpah", the word represents enhaling as you draw the air like you're pronouncing "um/em", and exhaling as you release air through your mouth like you're pronouncing "pah", it's also used to teach kids how to control their breathing while swimming
Moonbyul and Seulgi are also both members of fictional gg Girls Next Door, which was created for reality show *Idol Drama Operation Team,* where they and five other idols from other labels were challenged to co-write a screenplay. What they came up with was a pastiche of their training experiences. Girls Next Door performed their only song, "Deep Blue Eyes", (also cowritten by the members) live twice, no MV. Worth a reaction, but some care vis-a-vis copyright will need to be taken.
The red velvet killing voice is a manifestation so praying for their next comeback. The manifestation did work for Taeyeon tho, now she has her own killing voice..i hope you will check Taeyeon next
For someone who questions the smallest things so much, I always just let the biggest question marks slide on by 🤣. Can't believe I didn't notice that was FM.... DOI! The channel was all in Korean and I just thought it was like a Dingo offshoot channel. Anyway! I did grab the Tayeon one since I've been loving these KVs, not knowing at all that she was the one and the same, so thank you for making that connection for me so I can prioritize it!
Just in case no one explain the outfit concept for Mamamoo- they are a group that really celebrates their individuality and they had a really unique bond and dynamic with each other. So Moomoos often see them as like a family. A lot of fans would actually consider Solar and Moonbyul to be kind of the parents of the group (with them being the oldest and a lot of fans shipping them romantically). But here they each had a role and dressed accordingly. Solar was the mom (I like to think a soccer mom cause her dress kinda looks like it was made by Adidas 😂) Wheein wore a blazer dress as the dad, Moonbyul is the well mannered, studious golden child, and Hwasa is the rebel child. 😂 I agree, as an overall outfit I really don’t like what Moonbyul is wearing. But as part of the concept I love it.
a bit late but to answer your question, i don't think a lot of kpop groups are similar to mamamoo style-wise, but if you're talking about really great vocalists, (in my opinion) girls generation (esp taeyeon, who also has a killing voice!) comes to mind for me for second gen, and honestly red velvet (esp wendy and seulgi). wendy, solar and wheein are considered the top female vocalists of 3rd gen, and seulgi could be a main vocal in any other group if those three weren't there. sm vocalists are generally really strong. their musical styles differ from mamamoo but their vocalists are absolutely insane! like others said red velvet doesn't have an official killing voice, but i so wish they did because they're SO GOOD. also, as another comment said, hwasa wasn't at her best in this video even though she absolutely killed it (just means she's EVEN BETTER than you can imagine), and moonbyul, despite being "the rapper" is also a very powerful vocalist even though she didn't get to show that off much here! also wheein has my favourite voice in mamamoo! you can consider iu 2nd gen (debuted in 2008, same year as some 2nd gen groups like 2pm and shinee), but she's generally not an idol but rather a singer-songwriter as she writes her songs and performs them mostly without choreography. she also wasn't part of any groups (always a soloist) and this makes her different from most of the kpop industry
The only girl group comparable to Mamamoo is The Grace, I think. They're the best vocal girl gruop from SM Entertainment (TVXQ's female counterpart), but they're criminally underrated. You should check out "Dancer In The Rain" and "My Everything".
For a first/Second gen female group with amazing vocals you want to check out Big Mama, they are the group that Mamamoo was created to resemble. They do have a killing voice as well. Also for boy groups if you want to see a similar vocal kpop group, check out Highlight (2nd gen) and BTOB (3rd gen) both have killing voices as well.
Cool. Definitely planned on Big Mama and BTOB but hadn't grabbed Highlight. I really love these KVs so added them to my list now too. Perfectly fills out one of the guy's KV reactions I was starting to planning. Thank you!
23:00 NO other group has the sheer concentrated vocal talent of Mamamoo. 1st gen groups weren't quite so polished. 2nd Gen groups typically had ONE "power vocalist" (the Main) out of 5 members or less, two with six to eight members, and maybe a Lead or two backing them up. THREE MAINS (and a solid Lead as well as rapper in Moonbyul)?! SNSD had three Mains, but they also had _nine members_ when they started. After one of the Mains (Jessica) was booted from the group, one of the Leads (Seohyun) stepped up and was not only essentially promoted to Main, she formed a trio subunit (TaTiSo aka TTS) with Taeyeon and Tiffany. To match that vocal power here with Americans, you would have to put (at their peak) Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore, and P!nk in one group, then tell P!nk that because _every group must have a rapper_ and her voice isn't quite up the the same high standard, she _must_ rap. And then she kills it because she's at least familiar with the genre and writes her own lyrics. That's what Moonbyul did.
Yes I love them so! I got to see Wheein live this year and she was fabulous. I hope to see them all one day. But I totally get your analogy even though I think they’d be making Britney the rapper before even touching any of the other singers positions. Definitely not Pink but that just imo 😂🫶🏾
Yeah, sadly have come to this realization 😅. I pinned a comment about it under the vid but hopefully it helps boost any RV's fans manifestation of them doing one!
for the 2gen girl group maybe exid are kind od comparable, while for boygroup ofc btob ^ spica (girl group) are so good too but sadly they’re not active anymore so it’s up to you
Big Mama is the earlier girl group that is comparable. (Although I'm not sure I would consider them Kpop, more an R&B quartet). Their Killing Voice is unreal.
If you are looking for a 1st or 2nd gen group that is like Mamamoo I would point you to The Brown Eyed Girls. They are 4 member and all are good vocalists though Mamamoo is better. But I feel like Mamamoo is in some sense their spiritual successor both of them are barrier breakers, adult women sexy, supportive of LGBTQ etc. Sixth Sense, Abracadabra, and member Gain's Paradise lost, are the really required tracks.
Most 2nd, 1st, and zeroith generation kpop gg's would have only ONE voice with quality equivalent to Solar/Wheein/Hwasa, and that would be the group's designated Main Vocalist (remember Main > Lead > sub or line). In order to have 3 stellar voices like Mamamoo, a group would have to have a LOT of members, say SNSD OT9 with Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Jessica. Not knocking OT8, but neither Sunny, Seohyun, Sooyoung, Yuri, nor Yoona are anywhere near as epic as MMM's top 3. Hyoyeon is at Moonbyul's level as a vocalist.
Patience rewarded with egg on the face is nice and humbling 😂
they all have successful careers .. rec moonbyul -eclipse hwasa -maria wheein -easy solar- spit out
You pretty much got all pretty slower type songs from Red Velvet in this vid. They have many great R&B b sides and different genres in like 15 albums
can you react to mamamoo mv for "egotistical, windflower or "where are we now"? Where are we now is beautiful mv ballad about their 7 year journey at that time
Thats ok.. there is probability that rv finish filming their killing voice performance. They didnt spoil anything but gave a hint that, they filmed something recently and it is something to do with their album title, so many speculated, the word "kill"and thought of killing voice.
THERE IS A REAL RED VELVET KILLING VOICE NOW.
IU's dominance by being a soloist is no joke.....she commands the whole stadium during her concert despite her alone out there....the same can be said of her career, being omnipresence despite not coming from any major brand/studio
YESSS, an IU killing voice reaction ! Thank you.
YESSSS!!! Mamamoo are *incredible* vocalists, so happy you checked them out!
I love your iu reaction I feel you sis
MAMAMOO is, in reality,
the producers' darlings as they often
find it easy to work with
them. They don't require
many takes IN STUDIOS.
It's very hard to judge between Taeyeon and Wendy, and just where would you put So Hyang?
I love IU ❤️ ❤️
From my understanding, Hwasa was not on top of her game during Mamamoo's killing voice, like she was under the weather or not feeling well, but still did her thing and sounded amazing. I never really listened to Mamamoo before, but knew who they were and that they were always praised for their vocals... So when they came to AZ in May, I got tickets to their concert and was blown away by how amazing these ladies are live.
Me fangirling over her when she’s feeling down! Bracing myself for the power of full force now 💜
Yea, Hwasa was sick during this performance.
In Korea they have the title " Mamamoo never dissapoint"
Now JYP is busy with making an new show and is looking for new talent.
Everyone was mesmarized with how high and stable here vocals were
Listen to and trust Taeyeon!
Yes Mamamoo Vocal Queens! They're also successful soloists. Their live vocals never disappoints. Hope you dig into more Mamamoo
Thanks for loving IU ❤🙏
Although I am moomoo thru and thru since found them 5 years ago... it was IU that saw in her drama Dream High that got me into kpop ..found out she was real singer and then rest history. IU is amazing actress as well...
I'm a simple man.... I see mamamoo, I click
NO ONE COME CLOSE TO MAMAMOO!!!!!!
Mamamoo are so insane love that they often finish official album recordings quickly. For example their song Chuck was recorded in one take. The offical album version
DDDANG! Though after one listening I can imagine them just going into studio and blowing it out of the water easy. I will check Chuck out!
People always think OF Hwasa
as a bad ass, but truth IS, she's
THE softest IN MAMAMOO. 🤣
FOR REAL 😂
Really! I love when you actually get to know them better and find that stuff out. She's the group softie. Awww! 💜
Mamamoo's hidden gems are in the b-sides, If you like R&B as a soloist Wheein is the one I would recommend, but all of them have some great solo songs.
The MAMAMOO members are among some of the most-credited idols in K-Pop as of 2023
- Moonbyul actually has the most songwriting credits of all 3rd generation female idols at 115(2nd most credited famale artist overall...
- Wheein has 9 credits (that I can find, maybe more)
AND COUNTING....
Actually, MoonByul has 117, Hwasa has 46, and Solar has 41 KOMCA credits now.
@@dragonkazoo77 The numbers were from earlier in the year.... that is why I added "AND COUNTING" at the end
But thanks for the update... what about WheeIn?
DEFINITELY CHECK OUT MORE MAMAMOO✨ The fact that they CAN DANCE too is just OVERKILL🔥 Not to mention, they write/co-write their own songs too.
Saw MAMAMOO and quickly click
4 Soloists in one group, that's Mamamoo for you 😂
There are no positions in Mamamoo except leader which is Solar since all of can sing dance and rap.
They’re friends!!! And Selfish is so cute. Need this kind of anthem today. Thank you! Definitely want more Mamamoo too 💜
IU for the win
for mamamoo it is moonbyul, solar, wheein and hwasa from left to right
More IU please.. ❤
RED VELVET WILL FOREVER BE THE CONCEPT QUEENS.❤️🧡💙💚💜
Except for SNSD!
Really enjoyed your commentary, especially on Mamamoo 😊
FYI, Red velvet doesn't have an official Dingo killing voice yet! The one that you watch is a fanmade video 😄
Shut the heck up! No way! With the logo and EVERYTHING!
@@DiaryOfAKPOPIntrovert Despiration is a strong motive😭we're manifesting, everyone going on KV exept Red Velvet so the fandom had to get creative 😭
Kinda a shame too... If there was any girl group not named mamamoo that deserves to be on a KV, it's red velvet. Wendy is probably the strongest singular vocalist in kpop. So then not being on KV is a crime
@@josephkim3542 I hope RV will do a Killing Voice soon.
@@bhblanks5517same here waiting Dreamcatcher on Killing Voice too
manifesting red velvet on killing voice🤞
1:10:53 YOU’RE SO ME FR😭 I also cried a lot when I first listened to it. Autumn morning is such a precious song to me, and there’s something about IU’s voice in this song that scratches an itch in my brain just right
Of course. That's a single heart for you. Always first drawn to the one they can't have. Well just means I'll have to check him out and anything he has done as well 💜
Get ready for Red Velvet 2023 Domination❤🧡💙💚💜
aaahh mamamoo! i'm not a huge moomoo but i love their vocals! can't wait for you to react to their mvs. also you're an uaena already? omg! taste!
Awww Uaena! Yay! Love my new fandom name 💜
So before MAMAMOO, I
think the only girl group
that has comparable
vocals would be SPICA.
I dearly loved Spica, and hated when their sponsors just dropped them, but I really love SNSD also. And since they are contracted with SM Entertainment (which has the reputation of never actually cancelling any group), they look pretty safe.
The official killing voice of rv is already out.. check it out.
pls watch mamamoo on immortal song smedley..live medley of old famous songs... shows there stage presence vocals..
Yey! Another IU reactor. Love your reactions so much! I subscribed :)
IU Love ❤️ 😍 💖
AWWWW 💜
Big Mama is another group with crazy vocals, but they're soul rather than K-pop, and don't really fall into a gen. Their Killing Voice is definitely worth a listen!
2ne1! They don't focus on harmonies, but you can hear their true vocal tones and see their vocal individuality just like mamamoo. Check out their acoustic live performances like come back home, I love you, if I were you.
Not bad! But I still prefer SNSD!
The very goodlooking man at 50:50 is MINHO from SHINee hehehehe (Oh and also MAMAMOO - LOVE! You loved my favorite song so much - Dingga - that's on my playlist and a never skip bop for sure - something fun is Moonbyul also has a duet song with Seulgi that has an MV - it's called Selfish and it's SO CUTE)
Yeah they always give them blankets for their legs when they're wearing skirts!
RED:
Feel My Rhythm
Bamboleo
LP
Ice Cream Cake
Oh Boy (classic Red song w/ R&B vocal flavor)
On A Ride
Eyes Locked, Hands Locked (ballad)
Queendom
Bing Bing
Birthday
Red Flavor (summer queen!)
VELVET:
Pose
Beg for Me
Zoom
Bye Bye
In & Out
I Just
Peekaboo (for me this is a very red/velvet mix song)
Bad Boy
Psycho Remix
Celebrate
In encores they have done:
Hello Sunset (with fans)
My Dear
Russian Roulette
You Better Know
ZIMZALABIM
Encores are upbeat songs except the fan song (which is really just sung along w/ the fans who are singing to them - fan project song) so mostly Red but My Dear, You Better Know, and Zimzalabim are power vocals as well - definitely all must listen at least once haha :)
Once I fell into the IU rabbit hole, I haven’t been able to get out. Everything else seems pale in comparison since then..
MAMAMOO! ❤❤❤❤❤

Mamamoo Vocal Queens of kpop!
Once you listen to them especially live they would really set the standards high for vocals and stage presence!
But they are more than their insane vocals! They are artsista who channels their passion through their music!
Please check their Immortal songs Medley!

Mamamoo ❤❤
Actually, Wendy neither got eye surgery *nor* an eye infection. She got an eye injury from some fireworks at a concert. Poor Wendy!
IU.. my Queen..
This is a bit long for me so I stopped when you got to the fake RV Killing Voice. You had very perceptive comments about MMM and said what you liked and didn't like. I appreciate honest opinions more than happy happy joy joy blah blah blah so I subscribed.
Answers & info about your Mamamoo questions and comments:
Hwasa as a badass.
I translate Moonbyul's numerical-verbal formula to read "We've been working nonstop ever since we debuted and it's time to Party!"
Aya is the Korean equivalent of Ouch!

@@kudgeond755 I cant type. So I make 1 typo every 4 words as I can't type and look at the screen sametime. lol You're good👍
Long comments are my favorite. So from small to all the big stuff too 💜 🙏🏾 Now that i've droned on.....but also forgive me because as I've shown, I'm the opposite of concise 😂
The lyrical symbolism that only a fan or someone researched would know. Thanks. for sharing your loves of these guys with me
Side note: So sad for me to think someone as beautiful as Hwasa is had to go through that.
Mamamoo 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍😍
The theme of "Dumb Dumb" is _love makes you stupid, tongue-tied, and paralyzed_ so yes it is dumb as in stupid-dumb.
"Kinda Crazy" was a b-side, and one of their rare misses in that category. Something like their "Milkshake" would be a better example of their b-sides. Caution: there are numerous other songs of the same name. If it's by a different group it's not the same!
More IU reactions please and please react to Dear name and Ending scene mv
I'll be subscribing soon for more Mamamoo!

I agree, as an overall outfit I really don’t like what Moonbyul is wearing. But as part of the concept I love it.
MAMAMOO and SEVENTEEN did a collab stage in past!
a bit late but to answer your question, i don't think a lot of kpop groups are similar to mamamoo style-wise, but if you're talking about really great vocalists, (in my opinion) girls generation (esp taeyeon, who also has a killing voice!) comes to mind for me for second gen, and honestly red velvet (esp wendy and seulgi). wendy, solar and wheein are considered the top female vocalists of 3rd gen, and seulgi could be a main vocal in any other group if those three weren't there. sm vocalists are generally really strong. their musical styles differ from mamamoo but their vocalists are absolutely insane! like others said red velvet doesn't have an official killing voice, but i so wish they did because they're SO GOOD. also, as another comment said, hwasa wasn't at her best in this video even though she absolutely killed it (just means she's EVEN BETTER than you can imagine), and moonbyul, despite being "the rapper" is also a very powerful vocalist even though she didn't get to show that off much here! also wheein has my favourite voice in mamamoo! you can consider iu 2nd gen (debuted in 2008, same year as some 2nd gen groups like 2pm and shinee), but she's generally not an idol but rather a singer-songwriter as she writes her songs and performs them mostly without choreography. she also wasn't part of any groups (always a soloist) and this makes her different from most of the kpop industry
The red velvet killing voice is not the actual killing voice is a fan made killing voice. That’s why you see different videos.
Yeah, sadly have come to this realization 😅. I pinned a comment about it under the vid but hopefully it helps boost any RV's fans manifestation of them doing one!
@@DiaryOfAKPOPIntrovert hopefully 🤞
for the 2gen girl group maybe exid are kind od comparable, while for boygroup ofc btob ^ spica (girl group) are so good too but sadly they’re not active anymore so it’s up to you
Big Mama is the earlier girl group that is comparable. (Although I'm not sure I would consider them Kpop, more an R&B quartet). Their Killing Voice is unreal.
So Wendy had the eye patch cuz she got a stye/sty..which is very common for K-pop idols to get. Some wear patches and other wear sunglasses.
You could try some Apink, EXID or a little more recent (G)I-DLE
strong vocal girlgroups.
apink killing voice reaction please
Added to my new music/femme reaction list. I’ve heard of a pink though like everything else only know them by name. Excited to check ‘em out
think youll like 2n1
You will, but I don't like them as much as SNSD (Girls' Generation)… it is a matter of taste.
