BIGMAMA was from YG Entertainment (2003 - 2009) then moved to Tailruns Media (2010 - 2012) after that they disbanded, then after 9 years they reunited and released a song called One More Day in 2021 which they sang in this KILLING VOICE performance. They are basically YG's first girl group but they are not a Kpop group because they're a heavily vocal-focused group so they are promoted as such. Even though they weren't put out there as much during their time at YG, their charisma and stage presence during live performances still stand out and it's undeniable where they got it from. All members of BIGMAMA are now working as professors at prestigious Korean universities focusing on vocal and music majors.
Big Mama is very important in the Korean music scene. It was a turning point. Once upon a time, there was a time when singing skills were not important at all in the Korean music industry. Because only handsome male idols succeed in the market with the support of a strong girl fan base. All of them were mass-produced. Then Big Mama appeared. They rebelled against the market. They weren't pretty and they weren't skinny. All they have is singing ability. Remember that it was a situation where they could never debut as a singer in the existing market. However, as soon as they appeared, they became a sensation and became a huge success. At the time, they shocked the music industry and made the music industry reflect on it. In the end, the singer proved that singing skills are important. Currently, no matter how much an idol is, singing ability is considered important. If you look at the Korean song stage, if you win first place, they will just give you a raw microphone for the accompaniment and force you to live. In the past, lip-syncing stages were marked as lip-syncing on the broadcast screen. It dealt a fatal blow to fake singers and was the industry's way to normalize the music market. It's also about when they appeared. This is why I said that they are an important turning point for the Korean music scene. Now, the 4th generation sings well, dances well, looks great, and even has a sense of entertainment. Sometimes I feel like I'm watching a superman. In fact, it is impossible to perform such a song while dancing vigorously. So sometimes on a serious stage, they don't dance and prove their singing skills. There was once a criticism in Korea that idols are not singers and do not deserve to be called artists. 4th generation proves that they are singers and artists. There are many people who compete only with their singing skills. In the past, this was mainstream. It is because the current performance department is so popular that talents are flocking to it. The current generation is like a hybrid because the competition in that lineage is so fierce. Monsters who were even good at singing appeared while performing.
I was with you until you mentioned how singing is still an important thing in present day kpop groups. It simply IS NOT. The members these days get chosen for their looks. Even better if they can dance. Singing ? Meh.... in most groups they fix that in post-production. Most so called live stages have lots of lip-sync parts and if and when the members do sing live in most cases there still is an on the spot autotune magic happening if the voices aren't drowned out by the backing tape and the music. Just look at the majority of the 3rd gen let alone the 4th gen. Most of the 4th gen groups are utterly interchangeable; Especially girl groups. Take random members of random 4th gen groups and there are barely a few that stand out. They look pretty much all alike, up to and including facial features (Korea is not for nothing know for being big on having work done), and except a very few most have pretty average vocal abilities and that is talking about the main and lead vocalists, the rest are below average. Let's be honest, how many 3rd gen GG could cover a Big Mama number and do it justice? Barely a handful. The one that really springs to mind for me is Mamamoo. Most other groups are luckly if they have one member that can actual bring a number live without 'magic' editing. 4th gen? Euh....... the only 4th gen GG that so far have proven to be artists in my opinion is Purple Kiss. Last bit of proof. Look at those survival shows on Korean TV to create a new girlgroup . No matter how well one can sing if there's someone that is prettier or dances better than they won't score as high. Or look at the average fan base where they'll say ridiculous things about the singing abilities of the group they love although anyone that isn't delusional can see and hear that the live performance was anything but a showcase of vocal abilities.

Imagine the honor those boys would have if she came back and perform that song live with them at MAMA, one of the pioneers of YG and one of future of YG in one stage a full circle YG Family moment for everyone.

I remember Younghyun singing in 2011 with So Hyang and Lena Park (two powerhouse vocalists) on the Diva Project - Mermaid. Younghyun was more than able to hold her own even with So Hyang (arguably the best vocalist the past fifteen years.)
'Resignation' is her own story. She wrote and composed the lyrics. her true story. This song is one of the most popular songs in Korean karaoke. Koreans are pretty good at singing. Even this difficult song is on the karaoke popular list. If we try to sing this song properly, we will have skills that we didn't have.
