  • Repairing Stripped Honda B-Series Transmission Threads (Helicoil M12x1.25)
I chose to use a Helicoil kit to Repair my Transmission Threads. The kit is a M12x1.25 repair kit. This means that once the repair is complete and the helicoil insert has been inserted, the new bolt hole will be M12x1.25 and will utilize an M12x1.25 bolt or stud. I chose to use a stud since my transmission mount will be under more stress due to a turbocharger. This is a fairly simple repair if you take your time. It also should be pretty easy even with the trans still mounted in the vehicle.

Tecate is my jam! Nice work man. I have to do this exact repair on my DSM transmission. I bought Perma-Coil just because it was cheaper. I like the trick of taping one drill bet to set the depth for the other! I also dig the air tool oil use. You get so much oil in one of those bottles, gotta use it somewhere. Your threads are now stronger than the original!

Used the helicoil method on my timing belt tensioner when the bolt broke off in the block. Those things save lives 😂. That trans is clean af too, looks sick!

just a quick tip to everyone watching, try not to use locktite on helicoil repairs you can pull the helicoil out if you ever have to pull the bolt out again, and if it is an area of high tension that requires torquing to intense tension, it'd be advisable to replace the effected part, failing that, filled in with welding and re drilled and tapped would provide a safer repair, helicoils are great for low stress, low tension, repairs

If you used a gimbal for the cinematic shots this would have been silky smooth.

So if this was for my exhaust manifold bolts and the thread inside the block was what was stripped, the depth of the hole is deeper than the helicoil pieces that it comes with. Would it be okay to have less threads or how would that work?

What transmission are you running? What are your thoughts on how it felt And would you change anything about it or switch to a different one? I’m building a turbo Civic Si w/ GSR swap and currently has a B16 tranny. My precious car was a built poormans type r with gsr tranny boosted and I loved the gears. B16 feels shorter to me. Thoughts?

I have LS trans which is the longest of the B-series trans’. I like it because I get to be in boost for longer in each gear, but I’m sure it’s not the best option for 1/4 mile times. I’ll be putting an LSD in it soon and then it will rip (I already have the diff. Just gotta do a few things before installing it.

@@boosted_john My last turbo car was 10 years ago, I watched your video with how much money it takes and thought to myself "I'd never do that again" ...I lied...here I am again, LMBO!!!! it's nothing like customizing your own car and being able to enjoy it. Best of luck to you and your rebuild, hopefully it's the last time! I've learned one thing.....it costs to go fast. haha Thanks for responding bro I'll be following and subscribing, I just started the channel also and will be uploading my findings and mishaps when I first started. Cheers! This time I went CSS GSR bottom end, fingers crossed.

My mechanic replaced my mount and used an impact drill to install screws the, the mount was bad out the box so we had to replace it, when removed the defective mount that hole was stripped, he said i needed to buy a new bracket and i was like dude you need to go find me one since you stripped it with Milwaukee impact gun, when its only supposed to be 50ft pounds, and this called mechanical never even owned a torque wrench, be careful who you hire to do your mechanic work!
