I still play Heroes of the Storm weekly. It is hands down my favorite game I own. Even after I unlocked all the heroes, I gave Blizz $60 because I play it so much. Also, that Overwatch transition. 🤣
As someone who started with the original Warcraft, and went through the long and arduous journey to arrive where you are at now, I thank you for sharing your experience. Many of us knew Blizzard when it was a company that cared about its players, that cared about its community, before it became a corporate husk of its former glory to be paraded around by the puppet masters whenever they wanted to recharge their wallets. Just like Electronic Arts used to be a GREAT company with absolutely amazing games, it too fell to the corruption that comes with every merger in history. As soon as the company becomes an asset to be desired, it becomes a product to be exploited. Rarely is the goal to make it fun and enjoyable like good ole Bobby claimed with his forked tongue, more likely the goal is to make it addictive and habitual so you continue to log in every day and enjoy that sunk cost fallacy which keeps you paying.
Incredible watch! Thanks for this, Goose, our good buddy. Also, I was really surprised/moved to see that you also upgraded math to study software development. I'm doing 3 courses in 9 months, and I have one course left! This video gave me a surprising amount of motivation in a way I did not expect. I'm an 80's kid. I was fortunate to play almost every Blizzard game up to Diablo 3. What an amazing time for gamers! I was such a Blizzard Fan back in those days. Now not so much. Excellent Video and you touched on all the issues.
The Lost Vikings was one of the most amazing games when I was a kid. Seriously good game that holes up. Part platformer, part puzzle game. The two player mode is also pretty cool!
You know, despite knowing Blizzard used to be called Silicone & Synapse, I never realised that it was the same company whenever I played Rock N Roll Racing. Probably makes me a little silly but I genuinely never put 2 and 2 together. Edit: Genuinely can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Snake Eater
Damn bro, I worked construction my entire life. Thankfully I had some tech knowledge from my mother, but I also worked construction to save up money to quit and start my own tech business. Good work!
Just wanted to say this is the best video I've ever watched. You pretty much summed up everything most of us that play blizzard games feel. Also the editing is legendary!
I started gaming in the 80's on my C64, progressed on to my Amiga 500, and then on to PC. I've seen the golden era of gaming come and go. It breaks my heart to see so many beloved companies fall to corporate greed and takeovers. The silver lining is the indie scene because while it's similar to "public domain" of old, where you'd get grounded for two weeks for downloading a game from a BBS in another country and run up a phone bill that could feed a family for a week, the quality, quantity and availability of indie/public domain games these days is incredible. I still sing praise for titles like TIS-100 as it epitomises what games really boil down to; fun. It has three colours; black, white and red. It has lines and text, and no fancy graphics. But the game play, the puzzle elements and the replay value are high. And TIS-100 costs less than a Big Mac meal. I try and steer clear of big titles these days because all they do is remind me of how good big titles used to be, and what a disappointment they are now. There's some good games like Space Marine 2 recently, but they're the exception, and not the norm.
Thank you so mutch for this content! As a guy over 40's i've played many of the Blizzard games. This was a great throwback and relive moment for me.. you cant Imagine what is it was like to play blackthorne back in the day as a little boy😂. I really watch RUclips content over an hour. But this, my man i could not stop watching. Great vid. Great sinnamatics (sorry) great artwork! And most of all your voice is perfect, calm and relaxing to listen to. Thank you!
The last 3rd of the video perfectly explains why I was _HAPPY_ to see Microsoft buy Activision/Blizzard. Activision had already done so much damage by that point ripping the heart out of Blizzard so they could sell it on the street corner that yes, even _Microsoft_ is a preferable captain of the ship. I knew at the very worst things could only get better. And they have, but slowly. Diablo 4 is in FAR better shape than it launched at a year ago. Where we've been expecting more insults from the shop like Diablo: Immoral they've never came up and kept it to purely cosmetics. But if you're hoping for D2, give up that pipedream. That will never happen because even the "good" ARPG that all the Diablo haters praise (PoE) is that fast paced race towards an end game grind. Gamers have spoken and they _want_ their hand held and to be given a participation trophy for showing up, and to get anywhere past that you better lose the rest of your life to learn a new meta every 30 days. I'm a LOT older than you and this goes well past Blizzard. Gaming as a whole lost it's soul in the '00s when huge corporations realized there was too much profit to be made here. They aren't selling escapes and experiences anymore. They're shoveling a product to be consumed. And once those corporations are in control all you can hope for is for them to accidentally let a good experience slip through the cracks of the shit factory.
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain" Blizzard took this quote a little too seriously. :( I really hope Microsoft can turn this ship around before it's too late.
Bruva, if I come back here in a week and you haven’t played at least metal gear solid bro I’m sending you a copy you don’t understand that game is so epic
They better have Blackthorne back in some form or another, like say, as a new character in Overwatch 2. Fact: Starcraft's John Raynor is inspired by the 90s Jason Patric movie, Rush. Heck, it can be argued that Kerrigan's story arc is inspired by that movie.
I don't know how this video popped into my feed. But I've watched the whole episode and love the edits and jokes and great research. Amazing stuff , subscribed 🔥🔥
The criticism towards D4 can be targeted for D3 too. D3 already had a map where you already knew where to go, the game was extremely easy especially with companions but the gameplay was still fun. They just are different types of games compared to the first Diablo games. Which doesn't mean they're boring.. The whole industry has changed and the types of games where you're left off to figure everything out are more rare by the day. Also, Blizzard Entertainment has always made casual games (easy to play, hard to master right?). Their first games were harder as games in general were harder back then. So I don't understand the surprise here. As for OW2, the same criticism can be said for OW1. Esport was already pushed strongly in the first game (on the day of the reveal at Blizzcon, they literally had a commentated match). OW1 was a bigger visual mess than OW2 because it was 6v6 and not 5v5. As for the developers, they literally are the same ones, still pumping out great content (cool maps, awesome heroes and beautiful skins). Yes the business model is different since OW2 is free, it has its advantages and disadvantages, I personally preferred the premium model like most people probably. There is a much greater chance that Activision is behind the business models, release schedules etc. rather than the actual quality of the content (although rushed content caused by tight schedules does make the quality suffer).
Long ago, there were fun rumors of Blizzard working on a semi reskin of WoW, in he name of Diablo: Sin Wars. You'd pick human for variables, or start as a low rank Heavenly or Demonic. It was going to include all those named armor / historical people from D1 and D2. It never was a real thing, as far as I've heard, but it would have been amazing.
Why do people still have any hope left for Activision Blizzard..? That behemoth is run by faceless money-counting chinese investors.. the studio you grew up with ceased to exist at least a decade ago lmao, look what they did with the WC3 remaster.. I really HOPE there WONT be any follow up games to further ruin these franchises
StarCraft online ladder boards. My brother and I spent an entire summer playing ladder games. He worked nights and I worked days with some overlap. By the end of the summer we had hit the top 5 in north America. Miss him and those days.
Cinematic team as usual outdid themselves with the 12/10 Announcement trailer, that shit got me so hyped I almost forgot what kind of a quality was Blizzard producing at the time.... yeah and then the game came out. Was probably my last straw with that company.

One of the better videos I’ve watched on RUclips in a while. 10/10 content awesome stuff
Do Valve next!
Absolute respect for your education grind. I just turned 40 and I’m killing myself to be the top of my class. The young have time and plasticity, but we have wisdom and determination.
Going from Blizzard’s amazing box art / battle chest collections over the years down to your phone screen was depressing lmao
I cannot express how much the original Overwatch theme lifts my heart and how hard it falls when I try playing OW2. Amazing recap of all the games!
Rock N Roll Racing is an absolute gem for the SNES.
It's actually better on the Genesis, because the SNES version was missing 1 or 2 of the classic rock songs.
I still play Heroes of the Storm weekly. It is hands down my favorite game I own. Even after I unlocked all the heroes, I gave Blizz $60 because I play it so much.
Also, that Overwatch transition. 🤣
Over an hour? Goose! You have blessed us, my man! Love to see it
Hope y'all enjoy it! 1 hour videos might be the hardest things I've ever edited in my life 😭😭😭 hahaha
Video games are absolutely helping me level out the stress!
I'm an 80's kid. I was fortunate to play almost every Blizzard game up to Diablo 3. What an amazing time for gamers! I was such a Blizzard Fan back in those days. Now not so much. Excellent Video and you touched on all the issues.
Another Saturday morning goosetatick video. Love it!
😎😎😎 Now we're talking!
The Lost Vikings was one of the most amazing games when I was a kid. Seriously good game that holes up. Part platformer, part puzzle game. The two player mode is also pretty cool!
I haven't watched this yet, but I hope it blows up, because I know the amount of effort you put into these
bro 😭😭😭 thank you!!
I played thousands of hours of Wc3 DOTA and League of Legends, HotS is by far my favorite dota game.
Climate change is melting blizzard’s chill
See that ol' Diablo 2 Battle Chess set made me almost cry. That was my favorite part of my childhood.
Bro u are so underrated how much effort u must have put into this video.I hope ur channel grows❤❤
Just discovered your channel. These videos provide a great look at the history and the commentary is hilarious! Loved it! Liked it! And, subscribed!
The only thing missing from these videos is that there isn’t more of them. Guess we need a goose clone for content
Another Goosetatstic video as always
BDOGROMPICUS with the classic W comment
I loved the irl goose part
Damn bro, I worked construction my entire life. Thankfully I had some tech knowledge from my mother, but I also worked construction to save up money to quit and start my own tech business. Good work!
If u play every metal gear and understand its story and timeline , I will call u the goosiest goose of all time 😂
So much effort for this video, but it was absolutely worth it! This needs millions of views!
Definitely play the metal gears, it'd be goosetastic
Just wanted to say this is the best video I've ever watched. You pretty much summed up everything most of us that play blizzard games feel. Also the editing is legendary!
The only Blizzard game Ive actively played was rock and roll racing with my lil bro on yhe Super Nintendo.
This was 10years ago
You forgot the Warcraft III: Reforged disaster....
Thank you!
Sorry I missed the celebration stream goose, I havnt watched the video yet, but I bet it'll be a massive W.
Huge thanks Kiwi! 🙏🙏🙏
@ZenkaiGoose it twas a banger of a video.
Saying blizzard didnt copy anything until Heroes of the Storm makes sense only if you are not aware warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer game
Yeah, the entire blizz concept has been "take something and make it better in our own style".
Just discovered your channel. Love it. Funny, but not over the too. No yelling. Witty. Informative. Humble.
I like.
the goat dropped again
I got one more in me!!! 💪💪💪
"You either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain"
Blizzard took this quote a little too seriously. :(
I really hope Microsoft can turn this ship around before it's too late.
RIP Blizzard
@@pkermessi hopefully Microsoft turns em around or it truly is the end of the World..of Warcraft
@@michael-j9yWell it can't get any worse!!
Dude, I’m so glad you mentioned Artosis and Tasteless. These two guys have kept the magic of Starcraft alive for so long. I love these guys so much.
*sigh* Starcraft, Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2..... it was such a great time to be alive. But Blizzard lost it. Damn, did they...
It never was a real thing, as far as I've heard, but it would have been amazing.
eh I wouldn't say too easy , try a higher difficulty , and d2 told you where to go alot
These videos are what you load up youtube for. Thanks for making worthwhile content :)
We want starcraft 3 or warcracft 4 . Not the the always online BS
facts
cmon Blizzard make it happen!
Playing Warcraft 3 in reforged graphics is crime against humanity.
Can't wait for you to play every valve game
Something about d4 made it a chore to play and i fell asleep multiple times while playing. I think you put it into words.
Cinematic team as usual outdid themselves with the 12/10 Announcement trailer, that shit got me so hyped I almost forgot what kind of a quality was Blizzard producing at the time.... yeah and then the game came out. Was probably my last straw with that company.
try playing it now , much better
@@Hito343try it now , much better
Boggles my mind how you only have 160k subscribers - this is top notch quality. Great video, man - keep up the good work!
