This is one of those movies I want them to do a director's cut version of it. They should release a directors cut version of the film containing the deleted scenes and it would be awesome. I want someone to make a petition on that. If any of you guys could make a petition to universal to release an HD, directors cut version of the grinch it would be really cool.
I totally agree. I actually never watch my Theatrical Cut of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, despite having the 2-Disc Deluxe Edition that has the green case - I always watch ABC Family/FreeForm's Extended Cut, and I only insert the DVD at the end to view the credits in their entirety. I'm guessing if it ever gets released on DVD, it'll be an Anniversary Edition. Should this be true, Universal would have a perfect shot at it for the 20th Anniversary... in my opinion, the Grinch has always been so marketable in the past, I have no doubt they might do something fancy like include an exclusive Christmas Tree ornament in the packaging. I've always held the opinion that once a film starts regularly airing its' extended cut on TV, it's only natural to provide a retail copy of it, because there will always be audiences that go for the Extended Cut. Heck, do like Jingle All the Way and include both the theatrical and extended cuts in the same box!
The Mayor is such a cheat because Betty is the true winner of the light contest, not Martha. Betty worked so hard on those Christmas Lights for the contest.
I see this movie on TV every year and when I saw this movie on DVD for the first time this year it felt so freaking weird because ALL of these scenes are ingrained in my head that I had no idea these scenes were even deleted!
0:00-3:39 was my favorite. I just thought the Grinch's chaotic antics were really funny. That last line about marbles being weapons of mass destruction kills me every time.
I would’ve left out the Christmas lights contest-it made Martha Mae look petty. But it does explain why she won every year. Mayor Maywho is a dirty cheat
When the Grinch ask about the marble. (Innocent child's toy or weapon of mass destruction) Its only Innocent in a child's hand. But mass destruction in the wrong hands.
Shopping insanity should have made the final cut tbh. More scenes with the grinch being sneaky and pulling tricks like this in whoville would have complemented the movie well. Plus the pacer element was a really good gag, and a better excuse for the whos shopping fast and going nuts than what the movie gives
Scenes: 0:06 - Grinch speeds up the tempo in the choir 3:42 Mr. Lou-Who wins the lottery 4:08 Bike Riding 4:11 Who’s the Grinch? 4:37 Cindy Lou mentions the Grinch in class and gets in trouble for it 6:21 Hekavurush! 6:40 Mayor May-Who + Martha May awkward moment 7:32 Grinch on the left 8:05 The Grinch refuses to leave his cave 8:39 House Lighting Contest 11:38 Grinch needs a nice outfit 12:10 Feeding the Grinch Eggnog 12:52 Christmas is about giving, get it? 14:37 Good night Whoville 15:52 Sleepwalking police officer 16:38 Goodnight Lou-Who family 17:02 The Grinch steals playground 17:43 All The Who’s in Whoville will begin to cry “Boo-Hoo song”
The live-action 2000 How the Grinch Stole Christmas is also awesome and it is 100% faithful to the book and 1966 animated special unlike how The Cat in the Hat (2003) failed to stay faithful to its source material well sort of, and The Grinch, Max and The Whos including Cindy Lou Who (Who played a more larger and prominent role in the 2000 live-action movie than her 1966 special and book counterparts did.) still have the personalities, charms and like-abilities their book counterparts and are really faithful to them and the movie despite some parts being scary is really funny including the montage of The Grinch stealing Christmas from The Whos similar to how his counterpart did in the 1966 animated special in a live-action, extended and way more hilarious way, the song, “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” from the 1966 special sung by the Grinch and Jim Carey in a funny and more upbeat way, the Grinch in the Holiday Cheermister Scene in Whoville and Whobiliton (A huge Christmas celebration.) and him burning down the Christmas tree and the rampage in Whoville before heading home and the scene with him and Max flying down to Whoville on the sled and “We’re going to die; we’re going to die I’m going to throw up and then I’m gonna die” scene and the “What should I where scene”, and has lots of scenes that are faithful to and identical to the scenes from the book and 1966 special like the Grinch stealing Christmas from the Whos, the scene with him singing, “You’re a mean one Mr. Grinch” and preparing to steal Christmas from the Whos and him making his Santa Claus costume and the scene with his redemption and heart growing three sizes that day and finally coming to love Christmas and realize that there is much more to it than is gifts, presents and decorations and festivities (Perhaps Christmas he thought, doesn't come from a store; maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.) and done in a more hilarious way and the Whos celebrating Christmas without the presents, decorations and gifts the Grinch stole from them and rescuing the sled with the Whos’ stolen Christmas gifts, presents and decorations with Cindy Lou inside in this version too from falling off Mount Crumpit and the Grinch returning all the stole Christmas presents, trees, gifts and presents to the Whos him being forgiven by them for it and him taking part in the Whos Christmas dinner at the end of the movie. The movie also has that interesting Cindy Lou giving a podcast on the Grinch and explaining his tragic backstory on why he hated Christmas to begin with aside from just being annoyed by its festivities. Mayor Augustus May Lou is also an interesting villain and main antagonist (Much better than or close to Larry Quinn from The Cat in the Hat (2003)) and played a part in why the Grinch hated Christmas in the first place. He gets his comeuppance for his actions at the end where Martha marries the Grinch and becomes his wife following his redemption and breaks up her engagement with May Lou for his behavior and playing a part in why the Grinch turned evil and hated Christmas in the first place by bullying him in the past. It also has the same subject matter the original book had and the original song, “Where Are You Christmas” by Maria Hill played in its credits is incredible and I will give the movie a ten out of ten rating and one of the greatest Christmas movies and specials of all time alongside the 2018 computer-animated feature film adaptation of How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Grinch (2018) from Illumination (The same company that made The Despicable Me, Sing and The Secret Life of Pets franchises and The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), The Lorax (2012), Migration (2023) and Hop (2011)), The Home Alone franchise, The Santa Clauses franchise, The Peanuts Christmas Specials, like A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) and It’s Christmastime Again Charlie Brown (1992), the 1966 animated special based on How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer (1964), Frosty the Snowman (1969), Santa Claus is Comin to Town (1970), Elf (2003), National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Christmas, Best Gift Ever (2018) from MLP Friendship is Magic, and all the SpongeBob SquarePants Christmas specials. (Christmas Who?, It’s A SpongeBob Christmas!, Goons on the Moon and SpongeBob’s Road to Christmas) and The Polar Express (2004). It also includes a lot of cool deleted scenes that should have been featured in the movie. The film is superior to The Cat in the Hat (2003) and a large improvement over it excluding all the mistakes that movie had. Jim Carey also did a great job performing the Grinch in that movie. They should have gave that movie a prequel that’s based on Halloween is Grinch Night and also a Halloween themed movie and a sequel that crosses over with the live-action The Cat in the Hat franchise based on The Grinch Grinches The Cat in the Hat (1983) and adds a lot of new stuff to the original source material and where Jim Carey reprises as The Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (2000) and Mike Myers reprises as The Cat in the Hat from The Cat in the Hat (2003). How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (2000) like The Cat in the Hat (2003) also has a lot of memorable and funny and hilarious quotes and lines correct?
5:49 fun fact Bill Irwin who plays Cindy Lou Who’s dad Lou Lou Who has the same incident happened to him where he gets stuck in the desk on Elmo’s World where he plays Mr Noodle.
I remember the outfit scene and when the whoville is getting ready for bed but I didn’t knew there were many other scenes that got deleted or disappeared
Why did they remove the Christmas light off for any way as well the present pass along and the school scene as well when the movie first came out back in 2000 it had these scenes as for the other scenes never made it because it would of made the film too long
I know some of these scenes I'm talking about aren't really delete scenes but just scenes from the TV version but still I count those as deleted scenes because they didn't make it into the real movie or at least they made it into the TV movie
I never knew about The Grinch Jim Carry Edition having Deleted Scenes. It's really new to me. The TV edition of the Movie has All of the Deleted Scenes but Streaming Edition, DVD, blu ray edition is hit or miss.

Saw it on tv recently and saw some scenes I had never seen in my life so I came here to confirm they were in fact deleted scenes Always cool when movie re airings have the deleted scenes
How to fix the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000): Keep its plot and story the same but make it way more faithful to the original source material and 1957 book and 1966 animated television special and not have the Grinch and The Whos (Excluding Cindy Lou Who) flanderized but still have their original personalities that their book and animated special counterparts had and still have the charm, likability and comedy they had and also keep the hyper-famous song, “Where are you Christmas” by Faith Hill and replace its scary and dark tone with a more funnier and hilarious tone and make Mayor a better and more intimidating antagonist and villain aside from him being one of the reasons why the Grinch hated Christmas to begin with. Also have the film feature the deleted scenes that never made it into the final film.
Honestly the teacher is kind of pivotal of how the grinch turned out too. She should've mediated with grinch and the mayor. Nice job lady, you created a petty criminal
I always remembered watching the judging of the lights between Martha may who and the mom
There was a book version that kept lights contest sequence
No. Freeform airs that scene
that’s why i came

Was the most beautiful display of anarchy I've ever witnessed. This seems like the kind of chaos The Joker would create.
Dr. Evil.... That is so true!
Imagine if you got The Joker, The Grinch and V together, imaging the riot they would cause.

Keep its plot and story the same but make it way more faithful to the original source material and 1957 book and 1966 animated television special and not have the Grinch and The Whos (Excluding Cindy Lou Who) flanderized but still have their original personalities that their book and animated special counterparts had and still have the charm, likability and comedy they had and also keep the hyper-famous song, “Where are you Christmas” by Faith Hill and replace its scary and dark tone with a more funnier and hilarious tone and make Mayor a better and more intimidating antagonist and villain aside from him being one of the reasons why the Grinch hated Christmas to begin with. Also have the film feature the deleted scenes that never made it into the final film.
Why were these senses taken out in the first place?
Often, the channel Freeform plays this movie with most deleted scenes.
I was wondering what name and model of the keyboard used for you're a mean One Mr Grinch in the cave?
Im currently watching this Movie on NBC and alot of scenes were cut from the dvd version.
Omg his belly 12:21 he’s gonna burst
Why is this scene funny af to me? 6:28
Are they gonna do that every time someone says “Grinch?”
(Window shades go up)
Honestly the teacher is kind of pivotal of how the grinch turned out too. She should've mediated with grinch and the mayor. Nice job lady, you created a petty criminal
They should’ve kept the light scene!!!
11:17 Gasps.
I thing these scenes were removed because they were more time consuming
Grinch 2020!!!!!
How come only 7 minutes worth of deleted scenes are on the DVD?
5:31 you know if he’s dangerous or smell bad that the objects start to come to life or be scared of him or it
16:02 Clerance sale, everything must go
The Grinchmas release is missing a lot of these for the deleted scenes.
That’s a good Christmas movie
