  • In this video I talk about what channels you can pick up at your location with an antenna. While some may think you'll only get networks like ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox, most areas will actually pick up dozens more thanks to subchannels.

When am I camping this summer I brought a TV and some cheap rabbit ears and I picked up QVC and HSN over the air for free I thought that was odd but still it's pretty neat to see two channels that I did not want to watch on TV for free especially the shopping channels I thought that was kind of funny. The thing is though my cell phone had no cell service so I didn't feel any of it and I wish I filmed it and put it online who knows maybe eventually when I go camping again I'll do that bring a camera with me and when I get home from my camping trip I'll do that. I bought a cheap antenna for like 20 bucks and it did it's job good enough.

My cousin installed an antenna in her area and was thrilled that she picked up many popular channels not available on her cable system (before she severed the cord). As I understand, cable doesn't have to carry stations if the signal level is too low for their area, and in this case, it's a low power station WHCT, transmitting only 15kw. She's on the outer edge of the reception band (according to the FCC) (40 mi.), but with an antenna recommended by Tyler, we were amazed that she picked up these stations perfectly by propping the antenna in her downstairs window. The assumption that cable has everything available in your area is not always true. The assumption that you always have to have a high antenna is also not always true. She didn't want the antenna in her house so placed it on a 6 ft pole in the yard.
Her local channels, coming from the reverse side presented a challenge, so we've ordered a second antenna to use with an adjustable preamp that allows 2 antennas to be joined. The Televes preamp we ordered was featured by Tyler. I have the 3 input model where 3 antennas feed stations into my distribution system from multiple locations. Each antenna works completely independently. I don't have Televes antenna's but I can report that their preamps for joining multiple antenna are top notch.

In Las Vegas, NV, I get about 123 channels (only keeping 56 channels as I filter out shopping, religious, and other red flag channels) with great signal from a low-VHF capable antenna installed by a local professional. Only trope is that about three stations break up a lot despite having great signal and having a 5G filter plugged in, as well as losing one station that had excellent signal and going completely off out of the blue, it's been almost two months now, I contacted the company of that station, to no avail. Other than that, having an antenna is great, even better when having it plugged into an AirTV to watch on Sling with their Orange channels. 👍

I had not grounded my antenna yet and thought that was a problem but I got no feedback on that . I rotated the antenna many times and I was getting a bit nutty with it because I was so close but yet so far. I came apon a review on a Amazon product who had a similar problem and went through the ringer to solve . Like you he went with a noise reduction and much more until he bought the GE outdoor digital amplifier . I was sceptical as my cable run was short and like you a decent signal . To my surprise the puxslation is gone . Did not have to give up on any of my stations or choose between them . I don't know how it has improved my picture quality . I think it does have some noise reduction capabilities with boosting signal strength . For $25 and Amazon return policy I had nothing to loose .

Hey Antenna Man! I brought a TCL BeyondTV I bought in Central America a couple years ago to the States. I'm having trouble getting any kind of Antenna Signal. Do you know if this would be due to the TV? Would I be better off getting a TV here in the states? Or is there some kind of adapter i can use to make it work?

Durham, NH PBS about 30 miles NE.
I do not easily receive the ABC station

Without Comcast Cable and VOIP phone
just Internet, we now pay only $94.00 for
Gig speed internet with a new Modem,
    about half the old cost.
Actually, we watch very little OTA TV, except
for some OTA sports and ME TV, my wife

    Hogan's Heros, for example.
Our two Samsung cell phones and my Samsung Galaxy S8 Ultra, we wat Amazon

Hi, you’re absolutely on her percent right when you said you’re not gonna get cable channels on the TV antenna but you are going to get cable TV show like from history channel for an example on your antenna. If you can pick up local channel defy TV, which is in the group of ion television stations you can get history channel shows and you can get A&E I’m able to pick up dog, the bounty Hunter from A&E and from history channel, I’m able to get American pickers pawn stars with that guy, Rick Harrison, and the old man who passed away and Chumley and then I’m able to get reruns of ice Road truckers and some logging show that I keep seeing commercials for that I’ve seen commercials for on history channel. I don’t know how defy TV is getting away with us being allowed to put TV shows like that on their channels but hey, I’m not gonna complain. I like the history channel shows pawn stars I like American pickers I like ice Road truckers I am on my dog bounty hunter. He’s pretty cool RIP to his wife in the show yes I do know he has a new wife now I think but RIP to his wife that used to be in the show with him. There’s even a cool ice Road trucker show. I forgot the name of it but they go on something called a death road and they show them in box trucks, driving and stuff to people on the death Road. Lisa is in there and Hugh I think his name is is there I’ve never seen that TV show before never heard of it. I think it’s called ice Road deadliest road or something but I also see that one from time to time on defy TV. How are they getting away with putting those type of shadows on a TV antenna you usually don’t get those types because those are paid for shows you got to have cable to have those shows and if you don’t have cable you can’t get them but yes it’s possible to get TV shows from cable TV on your antenna for free just search around you’ll see what you can get and you might be lucky to get pawn stars with Rick Harrison and I am the old man and Chumley or ice Road truckers with you and Lisa or American pickers or dog, the bounty Hunter with his former wife RIP to his former wife.

NBC is the only full power station and the others are much lower power. We also have a Christian station with two sub channels and sometimes if we're lucky we can get PBS that comes from BGSU in Bowling Green Ohio, 60 miles away. Since all the channels lowered their transmitter power and antenna size & height there are times when even local channels go out. During the analog days there was no shortage of long distance channels coming in even with simple indoor antennas. Even if I had a way to put up an outdoor antenna my area would still be drastically lacking channels to watch.

antenna man, I have a question, I'm in Philly, and n I'm hearing about channel 17, if I want channel 17 I have to pay for it. Is this true? I pick up channel 17 with my roof antenna. Thanks for the video. Have a nice holiday. Take care

You were misinformed. The owner of WPHL is having a retransmission dispute with the cable company Comcast. It might be removed from the cable lineup if terms aren't agreed but the broadcast signal will stay the same. See video below. ruclips.net/video/rppTzSP5NI4/видео.html

It depends on the signal and frequencies in your area. Strong signal areas can typically get away with a small antenna, fair signal areas a medium sized antenna, and weak signal areas need a large outdoor antenna. You can find a list of recommended antennas or sign up for an antenna recommendation from me below: www.antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html

Installed an antenna on the mast of the 10m antenna I put up at my uncles we ended up getting some Cable channels probably due to a bad line on the pole leaking RF

Been an antenna users for years. I'm on the edge of the signal for WFMZ. Live in Newtown Bucks, using a 3 ban antenna now. Can add another antenna to receive WFMZ?

It's hard to say without looking into your reception situation. Consider signing up for my antenna recommendation service at the link below. This can prevent you from spending hundreds of dollars and time wasted on setting up the wrong antenna for your area. antennamanpa.com/antenna-recommendations.html
