    Probably the best game I've seen from a Magnus opponent.

      Well Bortnyk is a really strong Chess player/GM and extremely strong at bullet and blitz!

      @@orlagh277 I should specify that from the middle to the end game this guy performed better than anyone I've seen. He was in a horrible position and down to a minute on his clock vs the best player ever arguably and he managed to draw.

    Did Bobby Fischer have "yes" men in the BG? I guess some folks need the positive energy from outside.

      @@Chess_and_Coffee I appreciate the response, but I am confused. It's been uploaded before on his OfferSpill channel, which I believe was removed some time ago....hence the reason I assumed it was stolen because it is unavailable everywhere except for channels that took that stream.

    Wait Bortnyk started with 1:30 and Magnus had 3:00 ?!!

    • @Chess_and_Coffee
      @Chess_and_Coffee  22 дня назад +2

      @458scuderia Yes, such time control is known as 'handicap time' in chess. Time handicaps are most often practiced in blitz games. The weaker player receives more minutes than the stronger player, which is a better way to favor lower-rated players. In this game, Bortnyk started with 1:30, while Magnus had 3:00, even though Magnus is the stronger player.

      Bortnyk berserked, which gives him more tournament points if he wins, but less playing time. However, Magnus decided not to do this. Each player can decide this at the beginning of the game.

    At 2:13, White can move the Knight to f8 instead of f6.
    f8 seems way better than f6 for white, I wonder how Magnus missed it.
    The white knight is protected by the bishop, and attacks the queen with tempo.

    • @CalSticks
      @CalSticks 12 дней назад +1

      If rook takes on F8, bishop recapture, black can fork white rooks with knight to E3 (regaining whatever material advantage was lost). There’s probably much more in that line which Magnus spotted and avoided.
