    Pretty noisy too.....I realise grounding/shielding issues are a very easy 'fix'....but, it's a fix that should have been implemented before the guitar left the factory.

    That bass sounds really amazing. I am a big fan of crisp and articulate tone, and this bass has that! It seems really versatile, too, and you did a great job demonstrating its range. Great job on another excellent video! I look forward to seeing more of your reviews.

    • @Insoma
      @Insoma  3 года назад +1

      Hey my man! Thank you so much. Yes...crisp and articulate is spot on. Those DiMarzios are so much better than you'll get on a stock Fender...even if quadrupled the price.
      If you want a real mellow sound you really have to dial the treble and mid back and up the bass a bit, but as you have seen/heard the 3 band eq has a great range. This translates so well to the knobs. They are sturdy and I can't tell you how much I love it, when the knob has a dent at the 50% mark it's a very small detail but I really always shake my head, when I have even mlre expensive basses and I have to estimate the 50% mark.
      But I can't help but think the decision to spare the passive tone control is arkward. Even a 80$ bass has that. And some purists might be turn off by that fact. As I said in the video...it's no big deal for me, because if I play an active bass, I play in active mode 99% of the time. But it's just strange.

    • @stevestorck4788
      @stevestorck4788 3 года назад

      @@Insoma I agree that is strange that they only wired in the tone controls on the active circuit. I think that would be relatively easy to change, though.
      My kiesel has a preamp, and it is activated by a push-pull pot. You have to pull it for passive mode, so I guess it's made to mostly use the preamp while playing.

    I just bought this guitar. To me sounds seriously awesome. You play a nice spectrum of different things and can get a great feel for the bases capabiltys. One thing really pleased me as how good and non floppy the B string sounds. Sounds serously nice and not different to the other strings. I cant wait to get my one, i got the green one too. Also such a beauty. Doesnt bother me the lack of control for passive, I will play direct into Ableton so will all the tone control from there. And I will be using the 5th string a lot too so wont use passive mode much. I want to get an old P BAss flatwound for that. :--)

    Ich fand das Review sehr gut. Gerne mehr davon! :) Ich weiß nicht wie groß der Aufwand für Untertitel ist, aber ich würde die Variante mit den Reviews in Deutscher Sprache vorziehen.
    Und das aus folgenden, schwerwiegenden Grund: Auf RUclips ist mittlerweile alles auf englisch und jemanden in einer fremden Sprache zu hören ist einfach viel reizender, sofern Untertitel vorhanden sind und der Inhalt nachvollziehbar ist.

    Great review. On the lack of passive tone controls, my old Warwick ProLine Corvette does the same thing. It has a push/pull knob for active/passive, and in passive mode, all the tone controls are bypassed. It's not the biggest deal for me since I always play that bass in passive mode, but I agree that it's an odd design oversight in a modern bass.

    Man this is a beautiful instrument. Love the red version as well. Seems like a really nice one to play as well.
    Edit: figured I should probably update you. A while back on your EHB1506MS review I said I was saving for one. I ended up snagging a Schecter Stiletto Custom 6 used on Reverb. I am so in love with it, and having the extra upper register makes it a lot easier to play stuff like Tool that jumps around the neck a lot. It plays beautifully well, and looks phenomenal as well. I got the Vampyre Satin finish.

      @Insoma  3 года назад

      Yes, it indeed is. I would afarid the red one looks weird with my hair :)))
      And the red one would only be available in Mai...so I went with green, which als is beautiful.
      But my PJ will be the Neon Lime Green one^^
      The bass is very playable...I love the measuremnt and feel of the neck!

      Thanks a lot and congratulations!

    • @rcjd7834
      @rcjd7834 3 года назад

      @@mauro7474 The weight is 9 pounds 10 ounces (3oz lighter than my Jackson 5 string), and it is very nice to play seated. It is slightly neck heavy, but FAR better than my Jackson. Not any worse than your average 5 string jazz bass. I play seated a lot of the time and it is very comfortable. The action can also got incredibly low with no buzz if you want that clanky metal tone (like I do).

  • @zj1086

    Isn’t that the point of passive mode versus active?? Active gives you ability to change your tone with the onboard electronics and passive means you can’t, right?

    • @Insoma
      @Insoma  3 года назад

      Not exactly. Most passive basses have a tone knob which alters the tone between a bit more brightness and a darker tone via a toneblend (NOT a blend between pickups). All my passive basses have that and all my active basses with a passive mode have that, too. So I just wonder, why they cut that here. For me that isn't a problem, because I will play this bass in active mode 98% of the time. But I know people which are seriously upset about that.

    • @Insoma
      @Insoma  3 года назад

      My passive Flea bass for example has the stacked knobs, which lets you Set the volume and the tone for each passive pickup separately.
