Design It, Build It 001 - How To Design A Segmented Ring Clamping Board in Fusion 360

In this first episode of my new Design It, Build It series, I walk viewers through the steps I took to design a special jig that is used for creating segmented wooden rings using rubber bands as clamps.
In episode 2 we will carve this project on the X-Carve, and then assemble the finished product.

+WoodChips thanks! I've only been using it for about a year at this point, but It's pretty easy to pick up if you ate familiar with other 3d modeling programs.

Great tutorial but please correct the text on the jig, I know from experience how annoying it can be to start a project carving only to realise too late that I miss spelled a word ( Clammping in this case) I cannot wait for part 2

hello, great explanation learnt a lot, what could be used instead of AI to save the DFX then as a SVG?

I mentioned this elsewhere, but this process will help me design a marking jig I’ve been wanting to design for a while. Not being as familiar with the programs as you I’ve not really known which on to use. I think after watching this I will be able to do it. Just curios. Isn’t there a way to layout something like this in illustrator?

Thanks Chad! You can do this in illustrator, as well as Inkscape, but I am not proficient enough with either of them to layout dimensionally accurate plans like this. I find it easier to just design in Fusion 360, and export to DXF then use Illustrator to export the DXF as an SVG.
