I went with a (MYOG/DIY) custom roll top, full frame bag. While I am not a MYOGer, I borrowed my moms sewing machine and complied ideas/designs from the other makers and sewed one up for my hardtail. I've already identified some improvements for version 2, but it gets the job done well at a fraction of the cost (and wait time).
impressed by the price of this custom bag, not even super expensive. I don't run a custom bag but I got lucky that my Topeak Midloader 4,5L fits perfectly my road bike Giant frame. Will definitely consider custom for my next/final bike
Bought this one for myself and have been using it for months now. Absolutely love it and is worth every penny. I will say the extra $20 is for the side pocket is totally worth. Great place to put your phone.
Currently waiting to receive my three new bags from Rogue Panda. I went with them because a) their branding is minimalist and stylish, b) they had my Surly Ogre pattern already so no messing around with tape measures and c) they can make my bags in CAMO!
Love my RP half frame bag. I went for the lace-up option and I use elastic shock cord so I can tuck small things like gloves or a light rain shell into the lacing on the top tube. The bag stays secure and tight to the frame even fully loaded.
Love my custom frame bag that fits my Norco Search XR perfectly no wasted space, BBD (Bike Bag Dude) in NSW Australia. 3 zip version, 1zip on NDS for maps or electronics and 2 zips on DS with a floating false floor between.
Just made a custom bag for myself. Since I’m riding a fully there is no chance to get one off the shelf. It took me 3 days! But I’m pretty happy with the result. I chose cordura as main material
As I've mentioned a million times in many different places, if you love your bike, get a custom bag from your favorite maker. Quite likely, it'll be better built and lighter (not to mention having custom stuff you want) than an off-the-rack bag. I know people continually complain about the price of hand made bags but they often take a couple of days to make + materials. In the end, you'll likely get many years of use out of them (I've got bags I've made and used for nearly 10 years). Yes, I've make bags... in fact, Neal has reviewed them.
Not custom, but I recently got a half frame bag from Oveja Negra and it fits like a custom bag on my Pivot Les… will definitely be looking at Rogue Panda for a full frame bolt on option though!
Got a custom TimTas bag because I ride a 66cm frame and wanted a bag that would fit around the framepump and two water bottles. So it's a bit like a half-frame bag with some bulges in places where there's room but still 5.5L of volume.
Have two rouge panda bags awaiting the delivery of a priority 600 and 600x. Commuting bikepacking or general cycling A frame bag is a bicycle trunk. Just makes sense.
Ok so there is one thing I miss completely: why on earth the main zipper is on the drive side, while most people dismount their bikes on the other? For me it would be natural to make it easier to access the inside after I've stopped. I think there must be some reasoning for it, as I have a bag from the other company that has similar feature, I just don't get it. Is it designed to be more accessible while riding? But it would be hard enough to reach anyway, so that I only put stuff I need off the bike there. Maybe you can help me, why's that?
Most folks lay their bikes on the ground with the drive side up, so it's best to have main compartment access on the drive side. If you need something while on the road, it's best to store such items in a cockpit-mounted bag or a top-tube bag, or order your frame bag with a side pocket on the nondrive side.
@@ploegdbq I always thought most folks try to lean their bikes on something, instead of laying them on the ground, and in this case access to main zipper is usually blocked by the thing you've leaned your bike on. As of the things I need during the ride that was kinda my point, I don't want them stored in the frame bag anyway.
@@rnghwdbcs I thought the ame thing but still ordered mine with the zipper on the NDS. Turns out it's much easier to go through your bag if the bike leaning against you and you look at it from above when you don't have anything to lean it on. Then again, you could always order a custom bag with zippers on both sides!
I've gone immediately to Nick for all our bikes, both stock frame and custom frames. I only wish Rogue Panda would get a donut pattern....know what I mean Neil?
I’ve been a long time Rogue Panda customer. I think they’ve made me 3 or 4 full frame bags in the last 5 or 6 years. My most recent order was a little disappointing and turned me off from them though. The fabric on my top tube bag and half frame bag was faded real bad like it was left in a window and sun damaged and the half frame bag wasn’t even close to fitting properly and looked utterly ridiculous. In their defense, they paid for the return and reshaped it to where it’s a perfect fit now. With so many other custom bag makers out there, I would look at other options. I think Rogue Panda may have gotten a little too popular and let their quality slip.
We do occasionally make mistakes - we're glad you contacted us about it so we could fix it! We did change how PandaVision works behind-the-scenes in the past year, so we had a slightly higher rate of frame bag sizing issues while we went through that learning curve. Now we know when mistakes tend to happen in our new process and how to minimize them. What fabric was your bag made of? We protect all our fabrics from sun exposure pretty well so we're curious...
Their wait time went down a bit recently, from 12 weeks to 10. I'm sure there will still be demand for fall adventures, but the big crunch is starting to work its way out of the system.
We're bringing our rolltop bags back soon - another month or two and they should be ready to launch on the website again. They went through a small redesign and the new version will be better than ever. :)
So that when You tube channels convince you of the need to replace your bike rather than upgrade it to keep up with latest "technological advances' You will have to buy another custom frame bag to fit your new bike and noone will want your "old bike or its bespoke frame bag". So your bank account is emptied by the bike and bike accessories industry. Yet again. 😊❤

Love my rogue panda bag, Super durable and fits very nice in my frame.
Thanks for the review. I’ve been thinking about this bag for the past couple of months and you just sold me. Really like your videos!

I went with a Rockgiest for my Warbird. Just a perfect fit and exactly how I wanted it.
I'm so glad I got my bag from these guys last year. Sounds like it's quite the wait now...
10 longgggggg weeks…..
Best line in the video "wind performance and such who cares about that"! Yes some of us do!
Been messing with gear layouts in my frame bag. Your description is really helpful to me! Thanks!
I ordered a custom TN flag frame bag for my red Parlee Chebacco from Rogue Panda. I can't wait to get it!
We can't wait to make it! We should have our 100% recycled print fabric soon, so it'll be printed on that!

Got a custom frame bag from Alpkit in the UK - 100% worth the money

This indie bike shop in Denver called Z's Bike Shop has a tech who makes custom frame bags and they're terrific
Is that simple paracord fastening to the top tube?
yep.
A custom frame bag is a great idea for DIY EBike conversions for mounting the controller and the battery.

I have a Rogue Panda bolted frame bag. It was a bear to get installed and no way will I remove it.

We have a donut print! Check the Kate George section on any of our product pages.
What bike is this? And do you use this bike to mountain bike with when not bikepacking?
Great video!
when you say you have your water bladder in you frame bag, does that mean that there is a spot for it or are you just laying it down in there?
No dedicated spot, so just placed it on the down tube.
Awesome video. Interested in ECOPAK. Do you find it easier or harder to clean dirt and mud off compared to X-pac?
It's a very similar fabric all around, it cleaned up really well considering the dirt and mud it saw.
A custom fitted bag made in Flagstaff AZ for the same money as a generic bag? What's to think about??? That's why I roll #RoguePanda

As if the rogue panda wait time wasn't long enough 😭

Good news, we've been expanding production and we're expecting our lead time to drop pretty soon!
Seems pretty nice, but I want legit waterproof fabric even if it takes a little more co2 to produce.
Great video - thanks. Pedal further - lol
Too bad they don’t offer it in a rolltop. The rest of the features I like.

yeah, you want to buy a light weight bike so you can really weigh it down good
What is light-weight in your opinion?
