  • I was just going to remove the body protection but a few broken body mount bolts has left me no choice but to lift the tub.

Fantastic work. I had my tub removed from the frame without taking off a single body panel or the wheels! I don't know why more people don't do it.

Hey Shaun good luck with the channel. I have a 98TJ that I have been hoping to fix up. I don’t have a nice lift like that. How would you recommend doing it without?

4 buddies can lift a tub off of the frame. That’s the biggest challenge. Thanks for the comment.

Seeing the condition of that frame starting at 7:02, I hope to gawd you replaced it. If there's that much rust on the outside and what you can see on the inside at the body mounts, that frame is beyond done.

I am working on a '99 TJ that I just bought. I am trying to come up with a plan and list of things that I will need to take her down to the frame without a lift. i need to pull my tub and have the areas where the frame mounts to the bottom of the tub replaced on the drivers side front mounts. Any advice? I am generally stoked to work on it but have considered just replacing the frame.

A few strong buddies can help lift the body off the frame. Thats how I had to do it In the past. I would shimmy 2x4’s under the body front and back and use them as handles. If you can find a good frame and it’s in the budget I would go that route.

@@shaunsgarage1091 They actually arent too bad, but I'm going to have to get it powder coated and foamed on the inside after installation. I am planning on putting rhino liner (truck bed lining)on the inside of the entire jeep floor when the fabrications are done, and then a layer of padding under the new carpet. What are some things I will have to consider before putting the new frame under the tub? I was thinking that a previous owner may have welded additions onto the frame or modified it in such a way that it won't fit correctly on a regular stock frame.

@@tristanmeyers8980 we are in the same boat I’m planning on a frame swap for ‘97 TJ. Picked up a frame for 1200 and coated the whole thing with two cans of POR-15, surprisingly easy and looks durable and professional.

I probably should have put together. There really isn't to much. Just take your time and check a few times and go slow. Make sure you pull your carpet back on the drivers side of the trans tunnel and unbolt your transfer case bracket. I forgot and damaged my linkage and had to switch to a cable shifter.

    • @jeremy8715

@@jeremy8715 Yes with the cable linkage just need to pull the pin but if you have the factory linkage you have to unbolt the bracket on the trans tunnel.
