The obstacle avoidance alone makes it worth the price of admission and cheaper to own over time. I'd rather get this even if I wanted something just for fun.

It looks very impressive and the box looks so nice. I hope Skydio will do the extra flight time batteries and larger sensor like 1"

6KM ain't really that far, only 3 miles. At that price, I would get a drone for distance, like the mavic air 2 at 10k or further. That's if I'm going to spend that kind of money on a drone. The most impressive part, to me, about this drone is its obstacle avoidance system, which seems to be top-notch, with it going through an obstacle course of trees, and poles. And that's the first pinpoint landing drone I've ever seen. All in all, great video. WOW!

You are 100% right. This drone is more for following and cinematic recordings. Not really for distance.

Well legally you can’t fly it that far away anyways. You need to fly VLOS.

    • @Concertto
      @Concertto 2 года назад +2

Exactly! You wouldn't want to fly it that far. It's a recreational gadget not a military drone. Besides, the initial investment is spread over a longer period of ownership because the chances of crashing it is quite low. No need to buy new ones any time soon like cheaper ones.

Its a follow Drone. The fact that it can do a good distance is just a bonus. Want something to go real distance, go buy a DJI or something else.
What the SkyDio specializes in (especially the 2+) is best in class.

🤩 Great video , Very impressive drone stable fluid 🎥 Think loose track you bc trees but wearing colorful shirt like you do 💙 is good idea might be helpful for the software understanding where focus ...

Great review! I've been thinking about one of these for a while and will probably get one this Spring. Have you heard any rumors of when the next version will be released........although I don't know how it can get much better!

i feel like at 7:45 the reason it lost you is because the beacon might not be getting good gps signal in your pocket. if you leave it out of your pocket it might get better signal. i saw one video of a motorbike and he attached his beacon to his bike

Great video!! Wish I had the balls to do that!
I freaking bought (2) of them. When Covid hit we all got the bad news that the production got delayed, but I was so egar to get one that I paid a few hundred dollars more & picked one up from a hack off of Ebay. But man, I'm so freaking nervous to fly it, that I don't use it (reserved one is still brand new in the box etc). So unfortunately I have (2) Skydio 2s that just sit.
Maybe one day I will jump on my one wheel or Ebike & have it follow me, but with my bad luck, the damn thing will hit a butterfly then fall out the sky! Hahahaha!! Again cool video!

With all the problems people have with the skydio and tracking along with poor customer service there's no way this is worth $999

The 1 was really a prototype. The 2 was good but released with amazing but incomplete firmware & software.
The 2+ has addressed most problems, and will get better with each firmware release now the hardware is really good.
Like most new and innovative tech, its almost always released as a work in progress. I believe the hardware is now had the kinks worked out, its now the software and Firmware that could do with some more work. Fortunately, thats free (as long as they keep working on it).

The obstacle avoidance seems good but I would like to tell the drone to film me from more angles, not just left, right, front and back.
