That was almost four years ago, I no longer have the Skydio drone. And I can't remember where I purchased the case for the controller. Sorry I couldn't be of any help. Thanks for stopping by.
I think the beacon has the firmware version somewhere on the menu system. I'm not sure about the controller. I no longer have this drone, so I can't check for you.

Where is the update coming from? Did you use your phone and the app to download the update to the drone? Then does the drone update the Beacon and the Controller once plugged in?
