Quick and simple tutorial. Thanks!
Just bought my first domain a few days ago so this was fun timing. Figured it'd be more complicated than this, thanks for the video :)
Loved the quick tutorial! Thank you very much!
Please note that the propagation of a custom domain may take up to a couple of hours.
I have freenom. You cannot use the @ for host, just leave it blank. The TXT code in the video is not the one you need. They skipped the step to get it. Just click next till it appears ( I don't remember the exact sequence). Be careful in your cut and paste of everything. I tried it several times until I re-selected and copied all the adresses in the final step. They all looked correct but I just kep trying when they failed. I can confirm when you get to the end it works great.
My Domain-Hoster (Selfhost) explained _NOT_ to include the @ sign for the type. So I left the field empty and every entry has now a checkmark in the tutanota domain-backend. Hope that helps
Thanks for your feedback. It looks like different hosters handle this differently, your comment will probably be helpful to many.
the add value domain....what is that where do I do it? I wish you would have shown how.
it would have been much better if you could show us the whole process and how how you put this records in the domain email provider, I am complete lost
You would open Tuta (and follow what he says). At the same time, you need to login to where you purchased your domain. Once you’re in, you would look for DNS records. And that’s where the code from Tuta would go.
nice tutorial, it worked great
Thanks! :)
I can't find my t-verify record anywhere in my domain provider. I have been searching for over two hours.
Can you add this service from a Paid Tuta account *without* having decided on a web host? I have a domain but not yet a host. I want email first.
Everything is set properly but it keeps verifying my custom domains? Any help
The new custom domain setup at the third step is buggy! I keep see "Enter preferred email address" after the next or + button.
Thanks for reporting, we'll look into this.
help, this doesn't work for google domains
I already have long ago created my "custom email domain" address. I just want to integrate it with Tuta mail. Would I follow this same process?
Yes, that's the way to do it!
how to configure SMTP to send email from personal website, after custom-domain setup done and working well in Tuta?
Tuta Mail does not support IMAP. Please use our desktop clients! tuta.com/#download
@@TutaPrivacy Thank you for your interest and reply, during this time I have found out how to merge DNS settings along and use another SMTP provider together to be able to send emails from my own website with the same domain name.
where can I purchase my custom domain? any providers you recommend?
We like inwx - as it's in Germany, but it's really your choice.
@@TutaPrivacyWhy are you answering easy questions and totally ignoring the important questions?!
I've tried to make 3 different dns records multiple domains but they always come back as failed. How can I remedy this?
Best get in touch with support directly so we can take a look at this!
Do we have to wait a significant amount of time after adding the TXT record? Hitting next after entering the record for my domain just results in an error, "The vailidation of your domain failed". I'm using Namecheap if that matters any.
EDIT. It did take time, but then it didn't let me go further saying "You have to set up an email alias or a user for the custom domain before proceeding."
EDIT to my edit. Looks like they changed the checkbox to a + . Something to note for anyone else doing this in the future.
I have the same issue. "The validation of your domain failed". What dou you mean about that they changed the chebox to a +?
@@luciano3368 Later in the video he says to click the checkmark. But there wasn't one. Instead there was a plus sign.
It doesnt work. I am in Step 4 and everything with Host/Name except with @ dont want get saved.
The first three are fine. But the rest cant be saved... i copy the value in my settings (using "Strata")
Please contact our support via the question mark to the left, we'll be able to help!
can I put 5 custom domains to the bussines "premium" plan?
Yes, you can add as many domains as you like. In Premium 5 alias addresses are already included so you can create one address for each. Alternatively you can switch to a larger alias package or simply activate catch-all.
fill it in where??
If you’re talking about where to put the verification code . . . It goes to the place where you purchased your domain.
not working...record data invalid and I am cut and pasting . I really wish you would have shown the whole process
Verification failed - how do you fix it?
If your verification fails, please make sure that all entries are correctly added to your DNS settings menu with your domain provider. If they continue to fail, please contact our support team for direct assistance. Depending on your domain provider there can be small differences in syntax required for these records.
@@TutaPrivacy None of that was the problem. The problem was I entered my domain name with WWW. Once I removed that, everything worked. Would have been nice if that was made clear at the fill box. Or was clarified somewhere in support documentation.
@@dawnjohnson8739Thanks for the update, we'll improve our documentation.
