    Hi, I have the exact same setup but I was wondering if the hostinger 1GB storage is still in the equation or is it now the 15GB storage from google? Thanks

      With this configuration (using POP3), your messages aren't stored on Hostinger anymore, so you don't need to worry about hitting your 1GB storage limit.

    I can get POP3 to work but not IMAP under Accounts and Import. There was a problem while connecting to mail.*** The hosting server supports IMAP. All info is correct. Is IMAP actually supported?

      I'm not positive, but I can look into this. I've only tested this with email hosts that use POP. What email host are you using?

    I want to make a custom domain email for my family, though to use gmail and workspace, but I don't want to share my google drive with other workspace users, is this possible?

    • @SelfEmploymentSidekick
      @SelfEmploymentSidekick  3 месяца назад

      Are you creating separate email accounts for each family member, or one email account that will be shared by the entire family? So long as you each have your own account, you're good. By default, your Google Drive content isn't shared with anyone unless you choose to share specific files or folders.

    Does Google Chat work with this free method? If so, does the chat come from the business email name or Gmail?

    • @SelfEmploymentSidekick
      @SelfEmploymentSidekick  2 месяца назад

      Good question. Unfortunately, it probably doesn't work with Google Chat. Email uses different protocols. Google Chat is its own thing, and you probably need an actual Google Workspace account to use Chat (or other Google products) with your business identity.

    What happens if you don't set up email forwarding? Does the domain provider pretty much give you like email hosting or something? An inbox, is what I'm asking about.

    • @SelfEmploymentSidekick
      @SelfEmploymentSidekick  7 дней назад

      Domains providers typically don't include email. But they might offer email accounts as an add-on. Web hosting companies like Hostinger will often include some level of email hosting with their plans.

    My own setup has been to forward e-mail from my domain (for my accounts) to my G-mail address. There has been (I presume it's still there, but don't know) a method of verifying through G-mail that I own the domain, which is similar to the validation you did, then my e-mails could be replied to, or sent, with any of the validated addresses as the source. What I had missed was your step of setting up g-mail to automatically reply from the address that was used to send the e-mail. I still have to verify that's working, but I've sufficient options for that. ...now to get my e-mail filters to drop any message containing a password encrypted .rar file...
    Have you done a video on using the 'Google Business Profile' option I'm seeing available? Found when looking for the Google Workspace option. Still looking for how to get that set up as well. I'll check (if possible) your video collection for more information on that.

      Hey Rusty! I'm glad this video helped point you in the right direction.
      Regarding your question about Google Business Profile - are you asking how to use multiple domains with one Google Workspace account? Cuz I just helped someone with that this morning and was thinking of making that my next video.

      @@SelfEmploymentSidekick I'm not sure if that's what it's offering. When I pull down the ticTacToe of other Google products, I'm seeing a block in the upper right of the grid that goes to "Google Business Profile'. I get the impression from that page that this is mostly related to building a map presence that allows for your business to show up on google maps as a business local to the maps user. That said, that seems like something that should be a plug in for Google Maps, but it looks like they broke it out for some reason. I don't see any immediate reference to domains or websites.
      My other issue would be figuring out how to get a Google Workspace account set up, so it might be something that may be useful for a part of the video setting up multiple domains, or a separate video. I'm OK either way.

      Google Business is a nice tool to help business show up and keep their information up to date in Google Search (not just Maps). It's worth taking a look at - especially if you are a local/brick-and-mortar business.
      I'll probably do a Google Workspace overview video in the future and definitely touch on the multiple domain configuration. Any questions; anything in particular you'd want to see someone (me) cover regarding Google Workspace?

      @@SelfEmploymentSidekick Probably best to do a high level 'what this workspace environment provides. How it's different from just using Google Docs, and then move into how to step into it, what you need to do for personalizing the environment, and for the 'stand alone' variety getting it associated with a domain.
      The follow-up remind people how to associate with a single domain, then if you are going to set up multiple domains, and possibly sub-domains (without knowing what it provides, I don't know if it can be setup with a sub-domain that provides an In-House network for team members as a business grows to exchange documents, perhaps provide an HR resource for team members, etc) Or that could be a third video if it's something that supports that sort of a setup.
      I'm looking at it as someone who doesn't even know what it provides, not sure if it's a google alternative to Microsoft's SharePoint or an update from the google Web Hosting of years gone by where you had a very templated website of only a few pages, and so on. It puts me in a hard place to offer suggestions on what questions need to be responded to. Bulleted list so far? OK.
      First video - Intro to google workspaces
      - What is Google Workspaces
      - i.e. is it a platform for you to interact with customers, a platform that you set up to allow customers to place orders, and the orders get broken down into what you will need from suppliers, etc (which yes you would have to set up) Or is it a place where you brainstorm business solutions, prepare documentation of what you're doing as a business and how things are done, Again, I don't know enough about it.)
      - What other Google Services does it interact with?
      - How does one get started using it?
      - If I've been doing something in house that looks like Google is doing this better, how do I Migrate existing data to it? (presumably interacting with Google Docs, but again, IDK)
      - Now that I'm set up or at least started, if I want this associated with a domain, how do I go about doing that. (side discussions on getting a domain as done in this video are appropriate, or point back to this video or other videos perhaps)
      - Wrap
      Video 2 Multiple domains
      -Reference earlier video for full understanding, but provide a highlight list of what Workspaces is/provides
      -Why you may want to involve multiple domains,
      = Does workspaces allow you to present seperate views to customers for each of your businesses, but allow you to work with each as a single business for book keeping and financial or logistics reasons? again, IDK)
      = Other advantages
      - How to go about adding additional domains. (Presumably this is either a setting in a gearbox page related to setting up the first domain, but perhaps not)
      - If the platform provides business logic possibilities, (scheduling someone to go out and provide an estimate for services, needs to interact with a calendar for available openings, for example, or orders that require supplies that need to involve stock on hand, does that affect scheduling?)
      - other multi-domain related stuff (perhaps reminders to whomever is responsible for renewing domains)
      Follow-up videos on whatever is in there that might need further coverage. Perhaps that's more of business logic inclusion, or or vendor relationships, etc.
      Again I fully admit that I don't know enough about the platform to know what questions to even ask, So if what I've included above is entirely unrelated, that's probably why. Perhaps there will be someone who looks at the above as a useful template for setting up another SaaS environment providing something that supports it, or thinks I'm just another idiot that can't figure out how to get out of a wet paper bag... I'm OK with that too. 🙂

      Thank you so much for taking the time to outline some of these ideas! You've helped me understand what would be good to cover in an overview video.
      I can start by explaining right now that Google Workspace (rebranded a few years ago from G Suite) is essentially a "plus" version of their suite of free office tools like Gmail, Doc, Sheets, and Drive.
      One of the main benefits is that you get to use your own business domain (instead of @gmail.com), and you have more control over how your organize and grant permissions to all the users on your account. Drive comes with more storage, and defaults to restricting access to files to others inside your organization. And you can more easily transfer file ownership incase someone on your team leaves; all their project files aren't tied up with their personal Gmail account.
      The plan I pay for also allows me to host longer Google Meet sessions and record my meetings.
      There's a few other bells and whistles, but those are some of the features I use the most (either currently or at my last workplace).

    How can I change the profile photo?

    • @SelfEmploymentSidekick
      @SelfEmploymentSidekick  3 месяца назад

      Are you referring to the photo that appears next to your name in emails (and in the top right corner of Gmail and other Google apps)? You can click image/circle in the top right corner, and then click the profile image in the pop-up box to change the image. You can also change it from here: myaccount.google.com/personal-info
